What does this song have to do with Stanford? I've really liked it, well before they stole it. I mean, what does it have to do with the college? Ohio State did something similar with, Hang on Sloopy. Apparently they can't come can't some up with something original. Next up, college X abcsond's Don't Stop Believin and declares it is "their song".

Can anyone explain why this is Stanford's "fight song"?
John La Fleur funny story, actually. So they used to be the stanford Indians, but because Indian activist groups put pressure on the school, they changed it to a name that wouldn't offend anyone. So they changed their name to the "Cardinal" because literally nobody could be offended by a random shade of red. The fight song changed with the name
