Both lost and afraid, Spaghetti and Meatball must come together and face the evil presence that rules the deserts of the wild west... Black Olive. A story about a man's journey to the grocery store for milk. Production for this film started in January and has taken far too long to finish. The amount of effort and creativity our team put into this was absolutely ...

    I made a report on this amazing movie in my freshman year of college. I focused on how the women are portrayed in the movie, as infantile and yet catalysts to propel the plot forward. I watched again recently and it’s even more profound and interesting. In Mark’s perspective, the 2 women that he views as competent shapes his view of how he sees himself, Erica and the lady at the end of the movie both uttering a similar quote. It is very profound and I wish there was a video focusing on how the women are portrayed in the movie.

    I just discovered Ryan Gosling with "Barbie" and I have seen all of his movies and they are very different, especially the earlier one. I am really fond of "Lars and the Real Girl", but he is really good even in the ones where the script and movie isn't. I do like La La Land and most of his movies.

    Perhaps I missed a bit but I believe at the end Mia is an Actor when her dream was really to be writer also? She gets the perfect role where it is written around her but it seems to imply at the end that she is a successful actress and that she would be performing as an actress does

    I don't even know what my favourite movie was before this. I love it so much its just so undeniably real. The juxtaposition in the movie was insane, the piano scene where he decides to play jazz music is what hooked me, as the camera pans from right to left and our view is obscured and is he actually going to play? And then the spotlight on him just in the zone. The themes of dreams and life in capitalism are well played out, how we "grow up" and abandon our dreams. Even Mia towards the end was obviously being subsumed by Capital. The breakup was iconic, she should have not ket the conversation go so long since he was an asshole but those emotions were obviously keeping her there. The absolute romance of the dinner straight to the point that they have no chemistry etc., was scathing and I knew she was going to walk. Its very real and how people would genuinely act. I generally dont like redemptions unless they are truly deserved and I would like if they played down the love aspect towards the end, and Sebastian got Mia to follow her dream moreso as a friend. I think it leaned too hard into the starcrossed lovers trope, since sebastian wasnt fully redeemed at that point in my mind. But i still love this trope and it was done well. I liked the chance meetings and the only part of the movie i didnt particularly think was as good as the rest was the ending although I love the tropes in it.

    I love this movie as well but a small thing that always bothers me is in the “someone in the crowd” musical scene, when the camera pans up to the Palm tree while Mia and her friends are going to there car, it bothers me that the palm tree I not lit up like a Christmas tree. Would’ve been so easy to do and would’ve looked amazing.

  • @joeking6972
    @joeking6972 10 месяцев назад

    I know full well I'm in the minority here and it's okay if anyone disagrees with me but I literally got nothing out of The Social Network. I felt absolutely nothing for any of the characters; Zuck's two qualities are that he's smart and an *sshole( not "morally grey" just a jerk). Garfield's character feels like he exists solely for us to feel sorry for him. The only thing I knew about the film going into it was that it was about Facebook and that one of the characters gets betrayed. Andrew's first line is "Hey Zuck I heard you broke up with Erica(*puts palm on his chest ), I'm here for you" I was like oh wow I wonder who he's going to betray. I don't feel like I have anything in common with either of the lead characters because they both come off as caricatures. I'm sorry but "following a character around" doesn't make me automatically feel more connected to them. Garfield is devoted to Mark for no reason other than he's a nice guy who never does anything wrong. This isn't meant to be a criticism of either actor but they have ZERO chemistry. Almost every conversation is just them arguing or disagreeing with each other. I never felt like there was a genuine relationship between any of the characters. The theme is meant to be betrayal but I saw it coming a mile away and nothing is done to develop their relationship in order to make the betrayal carry any actual weight. Zuck and whats-his-name NEVER felt like friends to me. I wish they would have had inside jokes, shared moments of growth or carried on conversations like Vincent and Jules do in Pulp Fiction. Because of this I felt absolutely NOTHING when he betrayed him. I never felt like Zuck was "seeking" approval from anyone, otherwise he would have different approaches aside from being a jack*ss. He would have at least tried to be nice to someone, and I guess he kind of was at the end, but I don't believe that it would have taken him that long. Everything feels shallow, melodramatic and pretentious, like it cared more about showing off than telling an actual story. Everyone praises the dialogue but I hated it; it felt contrived and nothing had the natural flow of an actual conversation. It's like Sorkin cared more about his character's having some kind of Zinger than using it as a vehicle to deepen the story being told. My favorite example of this was when Timberlake's character asked something to the effect of: "you ever walk into a guy's den and see a picture of him standing next to 14 trout?" "No, you show the 3000 pound Marlow." "YUP." I HATE dialogue like this because literally no one talks like that; no one responds to an analogy they've never heard before with something so specific. I like it when dialogue carries subtext(by this I mean it tells you something about the characters indirectly) which happens a couple times throughout the film but not many because everyone is too busy throwing around one liners. Also the character who says it is just some dumb bimbo AG's character is seeing who lacks any depth. On the surface everything is technically brilliant; the cinematography and performances are all fantastic, but that is the definition of Oscar bait. Also I LOVE Fincher; Mindhunter is one of my absolute favorite shows, but this I think is his weakest project that I've seen.

    I remember first watching this movie a long time ago and not really connecting to it too much. Then I came across your video and watch half way through and was like “hey, this guy might be in to something” So I watched the movie again, and again, and again. The second time I watched was cause I was searching for what you were trying to say, and then the other watches was because I started to fall in love with the movie. I came back to your video and now I can understand and appreciate such a beautiful film. This film will always be in my heart and be one of my top favorites. Thank you for opening my eyes to deeper meaning and appreciation for masterpieces.
