Unfortunate impala ends on top of a tree🐆
The Serondella male strikes again!! We heard the vervet monkeys go absolutely crazy in the distance and knew something was wrong. When we approached the area we spotted the kitty cat with a well deserved breakfast on top of a knobthorn. Leopards can carry 2/3 times their own body weight up into a tree, how insane!! There was even a recording a couple of months ago of a male leopard running into a buffalo herd, grabbing a young buffalo and dragging it into a marula tree within a few seconds, CRAZY!!

Spending a lot of time with the Avoca pride on a buffalo kill has been one of the highlights from the last few weeks. These little cubs are so playful and seem to be always in good spirits. Very calming sighting of 3 white rhinos relaxing at the waterhole. Although not being super active, it remains a privilege to watch these animals still roam free. The 23rd of July was a special day where we were able to rescue an elephant bull from an almost certain death. The elephant came to the waterhole at the lodge for a drink when we spotted a massive snare around its right hind leg. Super relaxing sighting of an elephant herd coming down for a drink at one of the dams. We spotted them in the distance moving in a high pace towards the water. We quickly manoeuvred the vehicle to the other side so we could have the best possible view. Nothing more fun than to spent the afternoon with the little nuggets. We didn't see them for a while, but luckily they are now back in Thonrybush Nature Reserve at their previous favourite spot. True!! But the antipoaching team in this area has seen these type of snares before and they could trace them back to an area where buffalo poaching is a major issue!!

@@TheeMrsGrinch I think it will never be confirmed, he hasn’t been seen since the 24th of June and I think he is no longer with us since the Monwana pride has split

@@rachellehenson5568 they are growing super quick now, not the fluffy balls like before anymore😝 The male is often seen with then or at least in close proximity. We call him Blondy here😁 Thank you for your lovely comment😊

@@rachellehenson5568 I am sorry to tell you, but the last sighting was on the 24th of June in the Timbavati. He is unfortunately no longer around anymore
@@FieldGuideJordi that’s what I was afraid of. When I saw his sons out on their own I figured he was gone. Wonder what happened to him. I’m assuming he was killed by lions. Idk if BDM followed to Timbavati or not. Lion warfare sucks, but that’s just how nature works.
@@rachellehenson5568 it happens unfortunately… Most have his sons have split. Some even pared up already with other males, another piece of evidence that Mapoza is not around anymore.. Jot sure what exactly happened, but most likely the BDM although that is just based on assumptions.

@@vechenjohaurilio trust me the elephant is very happy! Elephant don’t only eat leaves and eat all the small branches, even the bark. This elephant made himself a nice buffet 🍽️

Makhulu alpha and beta all alliance in the area step to the side from the zark males to overrated mbiri males hercules giraffes sandriver all the way to mayambula territory hoeadpruit I think the only alliance that can’t stop them is the 5 vuyela males and it have to be the 5 of them and the Birmingham breakaway males
It is not black dam, instead it is back dam.
They are moving further away from their other prides which is going to cause more problems when other lions start moving in with lack of a dominant male that is not sticking around to protect them. So I haven’t seen anything lately at Mopoza does anyone know if he his ok with the Mowana pride

@@FieldGuideJordi oh this is Horrible I had no idea he hadn’t been seen in a couple of weeks. Do they think he was attached and Killled by rival males? He was all alone trying and kept them moving. I was hoping some of the younger females of the Mowana pride would stay behind and occupy the rival males while the rest of the Mowana pride was able to move further out and they would be left alone. I feel horrible now. I wish he had a partner ! I have seen a current video of some of his sub adult sons are they in the area as well? Do you know?

There was, some years ago, a lone pride male called Black Dam Male who was killed by his sons the young Monwana males. How times change...

I think I seen that fight. He was being chased by 2 of the brothers, they tackled him right by one of the trucks. Didn't know that they killed him though.
Their is some information that it was a buffalo and then the monwana males finish him and sadly the bdm kill the survivor monwana males I hope you guy understand the irony
