The players are phenomenal. The band too. I'm afraid this doesn't work with french horns. There's a reason why it's called Bugler's Holiday.

That was very well played. But Leroy Anderson's piece really does work considerably better on the trumpet I think. Sounds slightly muddy with horns. (And I once played horn before going over to the dark side - the trumpet.) I wish Leroy Anderson had written something for horns. Something short and fun that featured qualities of the horn. And that is a beautiful almost singing type of tone - great for solos (like the cello sings better than other string instruments, in my opinion).

I’m almost always never critical of the us army band in any way because they’re absolutely perfect, but this isn’t the best arrangement for this instrument in my opinion. That would’ve sounded like absolute hot garbage performed by anyone else so that’s a testament to the skill of these musicians and I think they did great for what they were given...but nah stick to trumpets on this one boys

Though I agree that the Horn tone doesn't cut through as well as Trumpets (the bell IS pointing the "wrong" way I must point out) it is wonderful revenge for all those years in college on tours when the Horn section had to play offbeats throughout this piece. I'm pretty sure we may even have taken it a tad faster as well. I always challenged the Trumpet section to try and play our part. That would've been a laugh. It's nice to FINALLY get a little something back even if I'm not actually playing this time.

Sry but this aint it cheif...cant hear a lot of the intonation and the notes dont punch like it does on a trumpet.

Much as I am a great fan of the French Horn, I don't think it works for this piece they are far too mellow.

I think, the horns are to slow in relation to the orchestra. not that good...

From a good horn player - Nice. But the horn still doesn't have the penetrating ability that the trumpet has (i.e. you can't hear the bugling parts at the end). Leave it for the trumpets.

You guys (and gal) are wonderful! This was an inspired performance. What fun to hear this particular composition played so beautifully on French horns.
