And the lesson?
There is a link under the video to my website where you can find the free soundslice tab which let's you slow down the video, loop sections, etc. all in your browser.
It’s Garry not Gary 😊
This is great, thank you.
This very helpful. Perfect timing. I am working to get this one down. Thank you!
I like this version. Is this closer to the Bill Monroe version?
nice job! I notice you are really playing rest strokes except when you hve a string crossing? I am trying to incorporate more of that into my right hand technique (working on retraining my right hand after nearly 25 years). Very much appreciated
whats the pattern your picking with your right hand? This video is the easiest to understand the melody but the picking is awesome man! great job and thank you!
Is that a Martin guitar, which one?
Hi Mike. It's a Whipple Creek guitar built by Terry Whipple, formerly of Southern IL and now residing in Columbia, MO. He builds a fine guitar!
Got tab chart for this ? ?
Mellow and perfect!
Damn bro
Beautiful music played very well! Thanks for sharing, Sam. I will give it a try, I guess.
Thank you.
Good job. Nice. Helpful.
Awesome! I had so much fun playing it!
Great Job Sam And Very Easy To Follow.. Thanks
thanks Sam u just opened a door , sound slice .
Thank you for the free website, going to tip you bother. Thank you.
It was of great help...thanku..✌😊
Nice work, plain & simple and easy to follow, I'm working on this one at present.
sounds like a harp!....got any more celtic? like ocarolan?
Thanks great way ya slowed down to grasp what’s going on
Well, that will save some time. Thanks.
I'm not a guitar player, so I say do it however you want to, what ever the tradition is. But yes. Looking at the music notation, the first note is a G, and your tabs show a 3rd string open, which is a G. Even though it say to tab at 4. And tabbing at 4 would make that a B. So, I would just expect to see the notated note as a B. Just as you said, not a G. The notation doesn't reflect the tabs, and that confused me. But again. Guitar ain't my game. Having the music notation is great. I can work with that. And yes, I'll have to transcribe to B because the group playing this wants to play in B. I'll work on that later. I've got other projects to hit first. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
Ted, if you go to the Soundslice transcription, it has a nifty feature that let's you transpose the notation. Just click on the little settings wheel in the lower right hand corner of the screen and then slide the transposition slider over from G to B, and voila, you'll have the standard notation in B (and the guitar tab with actual fret numbers instead of the conventional system of treating capo as 0 if for some reason that's helpful to you...) Printing is disabled on soundslice, but if you'd like a PDF feel free to contact me through the website and I can email one to you.
OK. I got it. I don't play guitar, I play dobro, and was looking for information on this song. I've downloaded your tabs for Rebecca. Thank you. But I'm a bit confused. It says capo at 4. However, looking at the music, and standard guitar tuning of E A D G B E, and comparing to the printed music. The capo at 4 doesn't make sense to me. t
Hey Ted, so the true key of the tune is B as Herschel Sizemore played/wrote it on mandolin. My guitar arrangement is out of a G position, but capoed on 4. With the capo on the 4th fret everything is raised by 4 half steps. So start at G -> G# -> A -> A# -> B. If you have any more questions holler at me through the contact form on my website and I'd be glad to explain further. Also, check this video out: ruclips.net/video/T2JhUE8WWrM/видео.html at about a minute ten in the dobro player takes a break, his arrangement of this is really nice! Looks like he's capoed at 4 as well.
Also, it occurs to me that your question/confusion might come from looking at the standard notation, which is written as if the song were in G. That's just the convention when transcribing music for guitar that's capoed, I guess because most of us are "thinking" in G if we're playing out of that position. And the tab, of course, is written the same way so the position of the capo is treated as 0 and the subsequent frets 1, 2, 3, etc.
that acoustic sounds lovely!
I've spent a lot of time on your website samuelpayne.net looking for a print-out of Rebecca but have not found it. Can you point me in the right direction?
Hey Ted, I'm sorry about that I had let the old website expire a while back but I've gotten around to making a new one. www.sampayne.net Rebecca is up there with a soundslice transcription and a PDF download, just go to the soundslice lessons section, then to guitar tunes. Lots of new tunes there as well, and I'm adding new stuff all the time. Thanks!
Thanks for the lesson! This is me trying to play it on my home made Uke Bass /watch?v=v2_s74Q3PTc
Karl, that's really cool! Nice playing. Looks like a nice build, too!
Great version but can't locate the tab.
Sorry about that, I got busy and let the old website expire. I've got a new one: www.sampayne.net and the arrangement is there as a Soundslice transcription as well as a PDF download. I've got several other tunes there too, and plan to be adding more all the time.
I need the slow lesson. Lol 🐌
Thanks for this! I adapted it for my home made mini ubass ruclips.net/video/v2_s74Q3PTc/видео.html
nice
Excellent version of this song! How can I get the tab ?the web sight does not open for me?
Just memorize it and figure it out!!!
alan4sure Well he did say he had the tab.... oh well....guess it’s the old way....no worries
Hey Lee, I'm real sorry about that. I got busy and let the old website expire a while back and I hadn't kept up with comments on these videos. I've got a new website, www.sampayne.net There's a Soundslice transcription there as well as a PDF download of this arrangement. I've added several other tunes as well, and I'm adding new things all the time.
I downloaded your beautiful arrangement. The cross picking is solid as a rock. It anchors the tune. Thank you for your prompt attention and making it available..
Can you add a link to you website in the description area? I am not having any luck finding it on the web. Thanks
Hey Brooks sorry for the trouble. The website should be back up and running now: www.samuelpayne.net
Samuel Payne how ya going? I notice your website is no more (which is a pity ‘cos it was great). Any chance of getting the tab for Rebecca? Cheers Gwyn
@@gwyncleeves3094 , thanks for the kind words. I let the old site expire, but I've got a new one up now: www.sampayne.net and there you'll find a Soundslice transcription of this arrangement and PDF download available. Lots of other tunes too, and planning to add a lot more as I can.
This is so much fun to play. Thanks for posting
Do you have any DVDs available?
No I'm afraid I don't. Thanks for watching; I hope you enjoyed the lesson.
+Samuel Payne I did enjoy it very much. I'll be following your lessons closely as your approach is already improving my technique 100 times over. Thank you very much.
