Big enough to move the yak
More like “had one”
That turkey in the background would be dinner!
Nice fish man and great channel! I’ll definitely subscribe
Thanks!
Better get some grease on that reel !! Noisey enough to ruin the day!
Thanks for the tip!
Nice catch brother...👍👍👍😀
Thanks 👍
Best fishing video I've seen in a while... great catch..
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Knew it was a pike the second the rod bent no bass pull like that
Pike fishing is the best!
like watching
Thanks
Good looking fish, nice hit right off the cast.
Yes it was!
Nice
Thanks
@@PikeHunterJim yeah. What’s your pb?
My pb is a 22 lbs musky I caught a couple of years ago.
Hey I have the same reel as you, they are very nice. Also nice fish bra 👍
Cool, thanks
Wow! Must've been fun on the "light" tackle! Is this Canada?
Yes, that was a lot of fun! Yeah it is in Canada, specifically Eastern Ontario.
Hello 👋
Hello 👋
What is your go to lure for pike?
This summer I've had a lot of success with the Big Blade 3/4 oz Z-Man fire craw chatter bait, so I've been using it a lot lately. In general I like spinner baits and live target perch baits. However, when nothing is biting, then my go to lure is the 5 of diamonds spoon. In this short I am using a simple white spinner bait.
@@PikeHunterJim thank you
Amazing
Thanks
❤
Thanks for the feedback!
Congrats man!
Thanks!
Well done Jim, what a rush when your drag is being unwound for you: so much power. Congrats you got it in 🎉
Thanks Albert!
Sounds like your tell could benefit from a good oiling. Use grease
Thanks for the tip.
Nice pike but far from huge.....i pulled in a 38-40 inch pike last Monday... that's still not that big
My pike is pretty big for the area where I fish. Wow, a 40 inch pike is pretty nice! Where did you catch it?
Hi Jim, it seems that there are slops at Cabela. Heavy cat fish Jim. Looked like quite a pull.
Thanks Albert! I saw Cabela had the FireTiger. I am looking for the orange/black one, I've had good luck with that one in the past, but maybe I'll give the FireTiger a try. Yeah, that cat fish was a lot of fun.
What’s the biggest pike you’ve caught? How many pounds and inches?
I think the biggest pike I've caught has been 8 lbs. I do not know the length. In the river tributaries where I fish I do not see too many really large pike. However, the biggest fish I've caught in the area has a been a 22 lbs muskie, but fish that size are a pretty rare catch.
@@PikeHunterJim ah k bro
What fishin rod is that?
It is a Daiwa Revros combo (RVRLT40-4BI/G862M). I like this fishing rod. It is affordable and works great.
@@PikeHunterJim nice bro I’ll maybe buy one
That’s a silver pike
Thanks for your comment. I tend to think it might be a silver pike, but it might also be a chain pickerel. I did not look at the submandibular pores on this fish, I think that would have helped to identify the type. According to this website, www.koaw.org/northernpike, counting the submandibular pores are a good way to identify the different species. Next time I will count them. Pike typically have five, musky have six or more and chain pickerel typically only have four. That might be a good way to tell the difference.
Nice 👍
Thanks
@@PikeHunterJim yur welcome
@@PikeHunterJim I have a question how much pike have you catch in your life?
@@Yahyaoutdoors12 A lot, I'm pretty old and have been fishing for pike since I've been a kid. I think I must have caught hundreds of pike over the years. I love catching pike. However, my PB fish is a 22 lbs musky that I caught a couple of years ago. I really like catching musky too, but they do not bite very often.
@@PikeHunterJim oh nice 👍
Get steel leaders and take your time don’t rush a lot and let it run a little
Good advice. In my case I had a 12" metal leader. However, this happened a couple of times, so, I did need a new fishing rod. The one I was using was getting old and I suspect the eyes were starting to chip and causing small grooves that were weakening the braid line. Since the time I originally recorded this video I have a new fishing rod and no more line breaks.
@@PikeHunterJim ok nice 👍
Подскажите маленький😂
I'm not even kidding the moment you said nice one. I even said oh that's a nice one lol nice catch
thanks
Where was that?
Eastern Ontario in Canada. Along the Ottawa river.
I hear a hen turkey yelping in the background
Yes, there are a few wild turkeys in that area.
As a turkey hunter I thought I was the only one who picked up on that... Sweet
คุณควรปลดเบรคเพื่อลดภาระของคันเบ็ท
Yes, good advice. If the drag was looser than the line, would not have broken.
U need a leader
He needs a rod that’s actually meant to real in a fish 😂

@@PikeHunterJimyeah I’ve never lost a Muskie or pike on a leader. Something else is the issue
Let go at the right time, nice
Love the 5 of diamonds
Yes, the 5 of diamonds is awesome. The pike really go for it.
Lucky, bro wanted to help catch himself 😂 Fishing is so much fun
You got that right!
Same reel as me
It is a good reel. I like it!
Average Minnesota experience
I've never fished in Minnesota before. Is the fishing good there?
Wow this video is very cool!
Thanks!
The only card I need!
Yep, the Five of Diamonds lure is a pike favorite.
Now that's the first time I've seen that
Always hold your bait a split second before you take it out of the water. I can't tell you how many cowboy bass I missed before I learned that. 🙄
Thanks for the tip
Haha Yah no that would scare the sh** outta me too.
Hungry fish!!!!
Why’d you tighten your drag when you have a big fish on I was always taught to loosen it a little bit to the fish can get some line out and help you not risk loosing it
I had a new fishing rod and the drag was very loose, I had to tighten it or I'd never reel that fish in. Typically I like the drag set loose enough where a big fish will not break the line, but also tight enough that I can land the fish quickly. I usually do catch and release, so landing the fish quickly helps reduce lactic acid buildup, which makes it easier to revive and release them.
what bait were you using
I was using a 1 + 1/4 ounce (35.4 gram) five of diamond spoon. That spoon usually works great for pike, which is why I like to use it. This is the first time I ever caught a cat fish on a five of diamonds.
Big cat
Отлично!!
That’s sick nice fish
Thanks!
