First year snowmobiles started being designed to be upright standing instead of sitting down. Big difference from snowcross in late 90s. We take it for granted today.

I try watching the current snocross racing, I just cannot get into it. However, I love this old stuff from the early '00s and the late '90s. I mean Blair Morgan, Tucker Hibbert, TJ Gula, Kent Ipsen, Levi Lavalle, Karl Kuster ....so many great riders. There is something cooler about the sleds back then too...all the manufacturers seemed to have very capable machines with a slight advantage to the REVs but not by a whole lot - Cat and Polaris had machines and riders more than capable of winning as well! Thanks for posting this!!

As I recall the twin trackers were 340 cc Rotax rotary valve engines and the Formula III sleds were limited to 600 cc which in Mike Houles case was the triple cylinder reed valve Rotax, am I correct.
