Oh man, I love the build up and delivery in this one! That was beautiful!! I'm rooting for you! (We don't have the A's nearby anymore, thanks for giving us something else to put that energy on 😹🤣)
Thank you Eder, appreciate it buddy! We'll see as far as the contest goes, it was a blast taking a whack at it either way!
That was excellent!!! TY
Thank you so much! Really appreciate that!
Spectacular!
Thank you Don!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼

I have an HSS lefty strat. So I am wondering if the humbucker is what I DONT want for Hendrix and SRV?
That’s a great question - it’s not 100% what Jimi was using on his Strat… but doesn’t mean you couldn’t get a great sound out of that setup though. I would go single coil for Jimi/ SRV
Such a great video and really beautiful playing Jules! Thank you for that (best) whammy bar lesson!
Thank you so much man I really really appreciate it! We’re working on a Jeff Beck Masterclass soon so stay tuned!
Great stuff, subscribing!
Awesome man, thank you!! There’s a ton more coming out soon so stay tuned!
Awesome!
Thank you so much, David!
Hi! Wich electric guitar would u recommended for slide beginners ?
Great question! I'd start with any guitar that has humbucking pickups, that's best place to start! (Preferably a Gibson - but Epiphone is great for starting too!)
Hi Jules, awesome master class video BTW. My question is regarding setting up a dedicated guitar for slide. Im using a Tokia SG Jr which has only a rounded bridge. I would imagine playing slide you would want NO curve on the string profile, as this would hinder accurate mechanics (as the slide is straight not curved). Im finding using your methods of using minor/7th/9th positions using behind the slide fingering results in mixed results regarding note quality. Any advise??? Regards Nick
How is RUclips sleeping on this guy? Awesome playing and tone.
Thank you so much for that, Luke! We're making a bunch of new videos that will be up soon so stay tuned, really appreciate it!
@@julesleyhe I think a collaboration with @Dylan Adams needs to happen. Watching you both play it just feels meant to be. This spirits of The Allman Brothers cry out for it!
How did I miss the tuning and voicing goldmine discussion at 17:17. How many full meals are there in this video? Many.
I love that part! Eat up!
I've spent 40 mins on the 1st 6 mins! Muting - I see how to use that technique for so many things like Man on the Moon solo, etc, never mind improvised blues.
I know, there is so much in this video. I’ve listened to it 4 times and I still find things I missed previously.
That's awesome to hear Amanda, that's exactly what I hoped folks might get out of this so I love hearing that! :)
:-)
I dunno if my fingers are too long or what ( i doubt it ) but i cant seem to get used to the slide on the pinkie, its too difficult to get the slide straight on the fretboard. I never noticed when i played notes how much bend my fingers have
You're not the only one facing that situation... it's an awkward feeling for the longest time, however you can play slide (ring or pinky) go for it!
What volume pedal do you use. Great lesson!!! Thanks
You got it Duane, Dunlop volume X!
Another great lesson really appreciated here in the UK. Started playing slide when arthritis bent my left hand pinkie, its now covered with a rockslide, chrome finish or brass depending on which instrument I'm playing. Really appreciate it, if you could describe how you would analyse a classic song such as 'Dock of the bay' and tranform it into open E tuned, slide form. Thanks for your inspirational playing, and patient enthusiastic education. Best wishes .
Thank you so much for that, and really great question that I'm going to be expanding upon in a video very soon!
Very inspiring - thanks so much!
Appreciate that so much, thank you!
Hi Jules..just discovered your site. Fantastic info. Beginner-slider Canuck in Montreal getting ready for winter! :) Thanks so much for all your work here...looking forward to your other videos.
Thank you so much Bob I really appreciate that! More videos coming out very soon so please stay tuned! :)
Well done man. What a thought out lesson. Can’t wait to check out more of your stuff. Again well done!
Thank you so much, Mike! Really appreciate that man, stay tuned im getting ready to release a whole bunch of courses on a bunch of topics I hope you’ll enjoy them!
@@julesleyhe Looking forward to it! Do me a favour would you? Rate my old video , would mean a lot, it's only 52 seconds long. I saw you made a "sound like SRV" video. I was planning on doing a series as I dedicated my teens playing SRV tunes. ruclips.net/video/RTyt89qAuUY/видео.html
Thank you Jules. I have several different slides but my favorite is a heavy brass ball slide.
You got it! Love a good heavy brass slide!
Really helpful, THANKS !
You’re very welcome!
Awesome tutorial. 👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much I really appreciate it! I’m releasing more full length courses in the very near future so stay tuned if you appreciate this sort of thing!
Great camera work and love the Jimi influence in your playing Also, only 3.5k subs???? See you at 100k in a few months!
Thank you so much man, I really appreciate the kind feedback! We’re working on 100,000 😎 hope to be right there shortly! 🤘🏼🤘🏼📈

Brilliant performance. I played it last night at a minor league team and this was definitely and inspiration
Super cool, Jack! I love to hear that and would love to hear your version if you have a video you could send!
Ooo man you can talk and talk, that is sure thing
Thank you Dino! 😃
I Love and Love and Love this lesson. The BEST ever!!!!!!! OMG I feel like I won the lottery!! Thank you so much 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I wonder where are you now? I wish I could meet you or see you playing.
I am located in Oakland, California - feel free to check out my website (julesleyhemusic.com) I list all of my shows/ events on my website- I hope to see you at a show sometime!
You are THE BEST instructor plus musician. Thank you so much. I stared playing slide 35 years ago, my older brother’s friend taught me. Omg I’m so old now. But I never continued until I found you here in this video. You inspired me to pick up my slide and just focus on slide so I can play more blues. Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🎸🎸
I sincerely appreciate that, thank you so much Sunny! Slide is difficult but so rewarding to learn, I’m glad this could reinvigorate you on your slide journey!
Gorgeous.
Thank you as always, Mark! Really appreciate it each time, we have a lot more like this coming up very soon!
Jules w/ an SG playing Jeff Beck? YES - we need this!
Thanks man, always appreciate it! Theres way more of this and similar performances to come, I think you’ll dig what we have cooking up!
SICK LOVE IT!!
Thanks Robert!! I always loved this tune
I got to see Jeff play this live a few months before he passed. Thanks for the awesome slide version
That's awesome and I appreciate it, Mike! My Dad and I saw Beck's 3rd from final performance (San Jose) and we couldn't believe how great he sounded. I left that show wondering what he was working on because he was just firing on all cylinders/ was so inspiring!
You killed it once again Jules jeez!
Thank you!! Always working on it!
Yes Sir, you nailed that. Thx Jules
Awesome man, thank you so much! I’ve always loved how Beck played ballads, super unique approach to playing… definitely like Miles Davis of guitar (to me at least) really appreciate it!
@@julesleyhe I have found a new excitement for the guitar by learning these amazing Beck tunes. Thx for your reply Jules.
Wow, that's crazy JUST HOW close to the original one this is, but at the same time it sounds like you because of the slide!
Thank you I really appreciate that! It’s cool how well some of the whammy bar stuff translates to playing slide, or at least that’s what I’ve tried to do… there’s a little bit of friction with the slide against the string in this video but the part’s are all pretty much there, really glad you dig it!
So good! Thanks Jules!
Thank you, Matt! Always appreciate it buddy, hope you’re doing great!
Long lived Hendrix!!!
Long live Jimi!!
@@julesleyhe YAY!!!!
I really appreciate your video. I grew up watching Van Halen, Eric Johnson, RRhoads. They were my guitar gods. Now I’m 60. Through RUclips and videos like this, I’ve come to appreciate so many guitarists like Beck, Mayer, V. Gill and others. When you take the time to show the nuances that I couldn’t hear, it really opens a whole new world. Thank you!
I really appreciate that, I’m so glad you found value in this video. Thank you!
Fantastic lesson ! New subscriber and thank you for sharing !
So glad you dug the lesson, thank you so much!
🤘👍🏿 Two of my favs in the Silktone and Benson.
Absolutely!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
“Hey, everyone, this is Jules Leyhe…” My brain: Trailer Park Boys?
You’re not the first one to say that!! 😎🤘🏼🤘🏼
How did you decide on Bloomfield vs classic reverb signature? I’m considering one or the other
Great question! I managed to get lucky, someone got rid of their Bloomfield for a pretty good price so I went for it. I was really just keeping my eye open for anything two rock and so once this Bloomfield was offered I went for it and haven’t looked back. I’ve loved each two rock I’ve played though, they’re really amazing amps… definitely pricey but definitely amazing!
Thanks Jules. I’m friends with Casino guitars owner Baxter who says Bloomfield is the best, but I also watch That Pedal Show and Mick swears by his Classic Reverb Signature. Both amps appear to deliver incredible headroom.
I also sent inquiry on your website to see about taking guitar lessons
