Nipped back to the tip to drop off some hardcore and went for another wonder around the new shop there. Found a bundle of old rods including some classics and the staff said they only wanted £5 for the lot!
In the car it went.

Smithy Pond Fishery Audit #15, CCAA Part 3. You’re not an angler if you’ve not fished here!
Просмотров 29114 дней назад
Here’s part 3 of this CCAA special and what a venue to finish on. Probably one of the most famous venues in Chesterfield for its prolific Carp stocks, it’s rare Bream and it’s elusive Tench. If you’re serious about specialist angling then this venue MUST be on your to-do list. I’ve been lucky to catch the odd carp from here and lots of its Huge Tench on the pole. There’s some great sport to be ...

Whether it be carp fishing, Crucian hunting or tench taming, this venue offers the lot at a very competitive price too. If you’re looking for a new club or a new fishery to try out, look no fur...

    Ben,as a bailiff on our club water, which is enclosed and is a protected property ,I can tell you from years experience, trying to keep waters clean of rubbish is impossible, and that’s from our members, let alone from d**kheads who get onto the water to get p*ssed,do drugs, even try to fish,we find all sorts of their stuff, discarded tackle, which they leave when they get chased off, line that would tow a barge along our local cut, rods that wouldn’t look out of place on a beach, with Harthill having public access that’s half of the problem, also it would be from the local non anglers who meet up for a jolly up,and leave their crap behind.

    • @thatson01
      @thatson01 29 дней назад

      I can agree to a certain extent Ste but 90% of the bin bags I’ve filled up have been mainly bait bags and other angling based litter. There’s been times when I’ve found the odd beer can stuffed in a hedge which like you say will be from a Walker but most of the litter has been bait and tackle rubbish. If you have a scroll through my videos you’ll see where I cleaned the venue up after the previous head bailiff stressed he wasn’t interested in keeping it clean. I spoke to him directly and he said that when they’ve cleaned it up in the past the litter just comes back. We all know it’s a full time job running a fishery and unfortunately the last chap in charge had himself a day job besides agreeing to the lease of the reservoir. The bulk of the litter was day session bags. A lot of them I opened to find them full of bait bags, BBQ’s, tackle wrappers, takeaway boxes and a mountain of poo bags inside them. I live right next to Harthill and have spent many hours down there rescuing fish, tidying up and seeing to other miscellaneous emergencies. I’m still yet to break a sweat.

Or leave it hung on a post so it’s visible. They most likely would have come back to try and find it but now no one can see it!!! Even the person that lost it !! Nether can the bailiff that could have kept it safe and given to back to the rightful owner!! Think man !!

      @@thatson01 Put it like this, I walk my dogs every day, twice a day. I find leads regularly and hang them up and they can sometimes be there for weeks on the same post or fence. therefore I don't think you have to worry about all these lead thieves that you think are out there. Furthermore I have found my own lost leads by returning to where I lost them as soon as I realised when I got home. Normally they have been hung on a fence near to where I last had it. It is a practice that most dog walkers know to do and is pretty much the standard procedure. I don't think anyone would complain if you just left it where it was over hiding it in a hole. But the main thing is to not be bone idle and just turn around and go to the café or bailiff in this particular circumstance. You had literally just walked passed the cafe and had just mentioned that you had. I couldnt believe it when you just continued to walk on instead of turning round and walking 10meters back to the cafe. By doing that you would have ensures it will get back to where it is meant to be. Hiding it is just down right stupidity. If this one was my lead and I just lost it ten mins before you found it, and I returned for it, I wouldn't be able to find it. I would be fuming to be honest that some moron had taken it upon himself to hide/steal it, when there is a café and a bailiff on site that you could have easily turned round and taken it to. Remember this as well, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit!

    For me the fact it took a team of people to land means it doesn't count ,

    i used to fish thatpair of lakes 25 years ago. Then there was full access all the way round the first lake, disabled access on there was to the near bank. The second lake was the match lake with the grass carp again the banks were clear all round. The current owners seem to have let the trees grow wild so over half is fishable the rest is a tangle fest. thats why i have never been back, theres a lot better venues within 10 miles

    Sorry to bother you but where would be best to park to get to that stretch as I've been chesterfield Town centre and staveley but is that much farther up from staveley. Would be greatful for your help

      Hi Russ, no bother at all matey. For this particular stretch you need Garside Street, S80 2DB in Worksop town. You can park right next to entrances for the canal too meaning less walking with the gear. Plenty of fish to be had including plenty of Roach, Skimmers and Perch. There’s even Carp and Tench in there which will be showing this time of year. Let me know if you go and how you get on buddy👍🏼

    Nice video. After watching this, I had to take a drive up and have a look. This was a month ago. The roads are worse than the video makes them out to be, more like crators than potholes. I didn't see that much litter, but only managed to look around two lakes due to my car struggling with the very poor conditions roads. I managed to get to see the bloke who now manages the venue now. I asked about a day ticket as well as if they offer a season ticket. Which they do. But when he told me the season ticket price, I was godsmacked , it'll cost you £160 for the year. That's an absolute joke of an annual membership for a venue like this, in this condition! I mean, in comparison to Aston Park fisheries annual ticket is £120, that give anglers the amount of lakes, with 100% better roads, a cafe, tackle shop, great information and it's a safe environment to fish in. Definitely massively overpriced at the moment. Maxuim of £40 a year until the roads are sorted, there's an actual tackle shop and cafe instead of the shed that's there at the moment. Definitely a venue that's only worth £80 a year. Keep the videos coming.

      Oh mate, I couldn’t agree more! There’s venues local that are £35-£50 a year that accommodate everybody and offer some quality fishing experiences. For a long time before they got the venue everybody did say they’d turn it into a heavy match venue. The fishery said it would have a huge junior focus and so far kids can’t fish it without an adult or a bank card. So they don’t bother going! I went up last week for a few hours with our youngest and the bailiff never came round. He just sat in the building and was still there when we left. The roads are still terrible and although we’ve had bad weather there’s absolutely no need to allow drivers to destroy the place more. It’s all MONEY MONEY MONEY and as soon as they abandoned the free fishing for kids across Embryo waters I’m not surprised why it’s got the bad start it has. I’m a big believer that if you have something so great with even greater potential that you nurture it with your life. Seeing the place being abused like it is with the only focus being the wallets I feel embarrassed to be the guy that’s not got control of the place. If I had it my way children would never have to pay to go fishing. Plenty more videos to come buddy so hang tight and thank you for watching👏🏼

      Where can you recommend for seasonal tickets at the £35-£50 a year? I'm fairly local to Retford. Cheers for the reply. I look forward to other local reveiws.

      Absolutely no problem Graham. The place has always looked a high standard and sometimes over time even fine wines fall off. But this place, it keeps the party alive👏🏼 Well done to you all on its success and ultimately keeping it the great venue it’s always been known for.
