5mm brass sides and 8mm steel sole, this is the biggest plane I’ve built to date. The lever cap is one from a scottish infill plane that I am re purposing for my plane. What kind of steel did the blacksmith use for the iron? Do you also know what the RC hardness is ?

Hi, I will ask him for the specifications on what he laminated and get back to you. I first heard about him while doing courses on timber framing and planemaking(wooden) years back. He also made the iron for the all steel no 11 I made earlier on.
