I watched this movie when ut released and I didn't know jack shit about f1. I started watching f1 seriously in 2020 and it changed the way I looked at this movie. First it was a good movie for me but later it became a masterpiece.
To my mind the best sports film ever made. Utterly engrossing and awe-inspiring. And 2 of sports' most unique and giant characters. The ending, the speech from Lauda is so powerful and an insight into an amazing, indomitable man, a part of whom nevertheless - surely like all of us - longed to have some of what James Hunt had. And lest it be forgotten, James Hunt is also without peer as a motor racing broadcaster. Nobody has done it as well, before or since.
Would it have been a perfect ending to the movie, if that last part what lauda said ”Of course he didn’t listen to me…” and to the end, would have been spoken by Niki Lauda himself? Cos that ending he spoked as in later times, so him actually speaking that, would have been an unbelievable ending to the film. Everytime when i watch this ending, the last bit i hear in Nikis own voice.
This movie was such a surprise. Two phenomenal performances and a brilliant script. A lesser film would have made Lauda a villian and Hunt's championship a victory. But instead Hunt's win is bittersweet and Lauda is a respected rival. I had no expectations going in and so I was pleasantly surprised to watch one of the best racing movies ever put to film.
I always thought that Racing should be a balance of science (Lauda) and just pure fun/feeling (Hunt's point). Too much stats/math just takes out the fun out of it imo
The end of this movie is pure poetry, pure magic, my eyes always get wet and my whole body gets goosebumps, thank you Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Brühl, Ron Howard, James Hunt and Niki Lauda: through you Formula 1 has been immortalized in the most fascinating and exciting way possible.
I hope in time, this film and the actors get their justice... No awards or recognition for such an epic film. We see crap hero movies constantly. And art like this forgotten 😢
I really envied the people of old times, they can be friends meanwhile rivals despite to have personality and the living value inversely different than other.
I really like this scene too much' cause I used to compete with my friends a lot in study, sports competition and I realised that rivalry can drive us beyond our ability
the most underrated movie ever.. 0 oscar for a masterpiece of this caliber

We learned that Niki and James were friends until the very end. Lauda and Hunt were rivals. That's sportsmanship 🏎️♾️🧡

this just might be, the very best ending scene i´ve ever seen... the fact that this was the real deal life or death formula 1 makes it even better...

The gold standard of racing movies
I think its amazing that Nicky concieded the point.
It did fit Hollywood criteria so 0 awards haven't watched oscar in many years why?
Ron Howard’s two sports movies, Rush and Cinderella Man are both masterpieces
So this is what Thor and Zemo does in their spare time😂
I really like this scene too much' cause I used to compete with my friends a lot in study, sports competition and I realised that rivalry can drive us beyond our ability
