Slingin' String and Tying Flies!
How to tie Lefty's Deceiver (variant) | Fly Tying
In this instructional video I show you how I like to tie the Lefty's Deceiver fly. This is a variation of the orginal Lefty's Deceiver by Lefty Kreh. This fly catches any predator that hunts baitfish. I like to use it for Snook and Tarpon. Very effective pattern! Tie some up and catch you some fish!

How to tie the EP Mullet | Fly Tying
Просмотров 4394 месяца назад
In this video I will show you how I tie the EP Baitfish. This one is a mullet style with the green back and white belly. I find this fly to be super productive in the flats, backwater, and surf. Snook, tarpon, sea trout, jack, and even redfish have been fooled by this fly. This is my go-to subsurface fly. I hope you enjoy the tie! #flytying #flyfishing #fishing

How to tie the Craft Fur Minnow | Fly Tying
Просмотров 2235 месяцев назад
Fly Tying a variation of the craft fur minnow. This fish will catch most any predatory fish and I mostly target snook and tarpon with this fly. I like to fish the darker color on darker days or dark water, and the bright pattern in clear water or bright days. This is an all around good fly for the flats, surf, ponds, canals, or rivers. #flyfishing #fishing #flytying #tarpon #snook

What wt fly rod are you using and what line ?
That day I was using a 9wt with 9wt Rio Flats pro line. 6’ Intermediate sink tip. It’s about a size heavy so loads the rod well. Lately I’ve been using a 7wt with floating 7wt line, Rio Flats Pro. Thanks for watching!
love the slow mo in this section of the video. 4:50
Thanks!
The mystery fish was a bluefish.
Yep! Thank you!
love these vids, headed out to chokoloskee in the next two weeks and gettin stoked on these vids!
Thanks for watching! Good luck out there!
How are you liking that paddle board? I’ve been looking at it to do some fly fishing on.
I love it! Perfect for fly fishing and really glides in the water. It’s a Bote Rackham.
What net are you using? Looking for a good landing net for SUP
It’s a fishpond nomad, mid length. I like the length and the rubber basket really helps keep the fish and hooks from getting caught in the net.
Muzyka taka, że mam depresję....
very nice!
I’ve been tying for almost 😅 60 years and have seen alot of those variations. Near as I can recollect, that’s the best one.!1️⃣ 😊
Thank you! Fishes really well! 😊
Well done! Great pattern.
Much appreciated!
Nice job making the fly dude
Thank you!
What rating was it for fishing in the back waters? Nice fish
Thanks! What rating are you referring to? The FWC bite charts?
@@FloridaFlyGuides yeah
@@FishingChannel-e8q 1 Star on the chart, 5 stars from us 😃
@@FloridaFlyGuides yeah definitely 💯 💯
Was that today
Beautiful spot but those airplanes are worse than mosquitoes 😂
@@woodyhuband9248 hah, yea, too bad deet doesn’t repel the airplanes.
What combo is that, and any budget fly combos you know of? Need a new 8 wt
@@Goober-pm8sz my setup is pretty spendy. G Loomis IMX Pro, and a Galvan Torque reel. For more budget friendly setups ive been happy with my Redington Predator rod with the Redington Rise reel. Lifetime warranty on Redington too. I think TFO also makes some budget friendly rods. There may be less expensive combos out there, but buy nice or buy twice. Thanks for watching!
Great work, man! love the voiceover in the intro!
Thank you, Eric!
Nice video!
Thanks for watching! Let me know what you'd like to see or learn on future videos.
Do you sell flies?
@@OnlyTradeIdeas Not yet. I do offer tying lessons and post how to videos.
7wt Maverick?
@@4492573 this day I decided to use my 9wt. But yes it’s a Maverick. Love that rod. Thanks for the view and comment!
Nice
well done! you have a new subscriber. tell me about ur paddle board looks like a nice setup. I have a dragon fly paddle board thats made up ur way. also tell me about the 7wt and what fly line u like to use. also the hook ur using. thx.
Thanks for the sub! My paddle board is a 12' Bote Rackham, I love it. The 7wt rod is a G Loomis IMX-PRO, fly line is a 7wt Rio Elite Flats Pro. The flats pro line is about a size heavy so it loads rods well. I use the same line on my 8 and 9 weights too. The hook I tie the mullet fly on is an Umpqua X series XS415, super sticky! I will speak more to my setups in future videos. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great stuff! What leader/tippet setup are you using for these inshore snook and or reds?
Thank you! Pretty simple setup, I use a 6’ 40lb leader to a micro barrel swivel. Then about 3’ of either 40 or 30lb tippet. All florocarbon.
@@FloridaFlyGuideshave you found any difference in using a swivel vs a loop to loop? I’ve never even thought of using a swivel
@@nicklabat6726Not a noticeable one. Still casts and lays flies down well. When chasing snook I like the swivel because of the abrasion on the tippet from the snook. Saves me from having to cut into the leader when tying on new tippet. With a swivel the 6’ butt section lasts a long time. I’ve never done a loop to loop connection for leader to tippet, I’ll have to try that out. When I’m not using a swivel I’ll usually do a double nail knot to connect the leader to the tippet. Thanks for the comment!
Great morning. Feel the pain!
It’s the ones that get away that keep us coming back!
Thanks for watching! Let me know what you think of the video.
Dang, that was awesome! Not what you wanted but cool just the same. 😎
Yep, wasn't expecting that, but nice fight!
Thanks for watching! Let me know below if this was a black tip or a bull shark (or other). Definitely not a tarpon like I thought when I saw the V tail 😃
Hate you lost him but that was awesome video footage! I'm down for it all, keep it coming! 😎
Thanks for watching! I’ve been using heavier line and a tighter drag lately to try and keep em out of the mangroves. That one still haunts me
Good looking fly! Thanks for sharing.
@@allenchason2473 You’re welcome! Thanks for the kind words.
I really enjoy this content with the fly rod! Keep it coming. 👍
@@allenchason2473 Thank you!
What weight fly rod is that please?
It’s a 9wt. I also use a 7 and 8 but the 9 has an intermediate sink tip line which I’ve been preferring lately for subsurface flies.
Bluefish. They bite 😀
@@ReinaldoMiguel haha, well I suppose what I didn’t know didn’t hurt me! I’m definitely versed in bluefish now after all the comments. Thanks for watching!

Awesome, man! great tie! A bunch of us from the fishing group will be meeting at Round Island on the 20th for a paddle fishing trip. Would be great if you came out.
@@Eric.Estrada Thanks, Eric! And yeah, that sounds great, I’ll be there! I appreciate the invite.
Wow! I’m gonna tie one of these right now! This is probably the best instruction on fly tying ever. Excellent camera work and audio.
@@TheAlpenBrosEst Thank you!
I knew you were in alaska the second i seen you were fishing with a shotgun
Hey, I’m located in Melbourne. Don’t know where you’re at. But I’m looking for someone to throw out some lines with. Also another random question is, what is better, kayak or paddle board for fly fishing?
Hey, I’m in the Vero Beach area. I’d be down to sling some string! For fly fishing I def think a paddleboard is better. easier to stand for sight fishing and casting, and the deck is clear to strip line. I use the Bote Rackham which is basically made for fishing.
Hey I just moved to vero! I’ve been throwing a fly rod from my paddle board the last month or I’d love to fish!
Nice man. I saw you talking to another dude about fly fishing for poons. Where’s a good spot?
Unknown fish was a bluefish
Yep, thanks! I learned that during the edit. Thanks for watching.
