Will be finishing my degree this year and will be taking the (H.Dip.). Regardless of our lame governments attitude I will become a teacher. The only way to change anything is to change minds. To change the vote. A vote for a political party just because their parents had ties to, needs to change. Go look at Dr Anne Looney giving her speech on World Teachers day. Rubbish, considering the occasion, Evelyn O'Connor should have given taken the stage. Looney epitomizes the rot in Irish education.

I really admire this girl, speaking out like that. Wish more people in Ireland spoke out the way she did. Well done to her. Hopefully people in the governent will take some notice of this.

Fair play Evelyn, if you haven't done it already you should gather together like-minded non-permanent teachers (even online) to give yourselves a collective voice. I'm not a teacher but know people in the same situation. Best of luck to you

Incredible speech! And incredibly brave. I truly hope it was worth it. You & every teacher in this country, deserve more. Well done on speaking out. It's people like you, in all walks of life, that make a difference. That create change. I just hope that it's this country who benefits from your passion. You're an inspiration...i actually wanted to become a teacher by the end of the speech...but probably best that i don't! Was never very academic! :)
