Hi! This is me I am 23 now and yes I’m still alive!
It's not rare just there is too much air pressure on the bell valve and it rushes out quick causing it to clap fast

Awesome stuff...everyone loves a fast bell! What cab car # was this?
if you mean the piece at the engineers side at the F ends, and on the fireman's side on the B ends, yes, that is an air scoop designed to help with air flow in the park ave tunnels. LIRR made some similar modification, but apparently theirs is not noticeable to the naked eye. The cars were not delivered like that, (ok, maybe the later ones were, but not the first couple hundred) - they were all modified in house with the air scoops.
I would even buy O scale if they did a reasonably priced decently accurate M1/M3. The LIRR has the same problem but worked to correct it much sooner - so the problem on MN is much worse. Lets also not forget these cars were designed for the LIRR and modified (as built) for MN service. (Thus the A in M-7A))....
indeed they are supposed to be round, but Metro North's M-7A fleet (the cars shown as models in this video) are notorious for having terrible flat spots because of failures in the engineering and design of said cars. Its more like a pandemic then a problem, as Metro North has issues with flat spots on these cars year round, even when they can't logically blame leaves or the weather.
Great shot!
wow those M7As are unrealistic: They have round wheels.
