Good Boy, Good Boy.
Whats an easy way to typically know where the compressors are usually mounted on dual axle trucks.
Air compressors are generally mounted on the engine gear driven or belt driven like an alternator. The gear driven air compressors are usually on the left (drivers) side of the engine but can be in the rear or front of that side depending on where the engines gear train is
@charleysgarage Thank you friend. The more I know the better I will get at my pm inspections.
Garbage ... go put a.fass system on and be done.🎉🎉🎉
Your eloquence in describing your disdain for this is on point. Congrats for contributing to the community with your amazing description of an a.fass system is and how it’s better. 😂. Seriously though, this is just an educational video for potential techs, no one is trying to sell you a fuel pro.
Spec is 1-4 on that ISC not 10-48, and you measure it unclamped, as per qsol.
My friend, I do not know what Cummins ISC you are looking up but this Cummins ISC CM2150 Eng No 46837912 the specs are .0010 to .0048 for liner protrusion and it does tell you to install 2 hold down clamps and torque to 50 ft lbs. You are right though that it says to release the clamps before measuring. You really shouldn't spout off specs on someone else's channel without being sure of your info. I put the engine serial number on here so anyone can go to quickserve and verify.
I got a cat i want to get a ferret a white ferret or 2 white ferrets
The darker the ferret the more mellow they seem to be. The whiter they are the more they want to jump and play and be ridiculous. At least the ones I have had.

No. They play and rough each other up all the time.

Good for you making this video, im a welder but service second gen cummins, and the last guy was very careless with the things he did. So im going back and undoing his mistakes. But yeah, my generation doesn't take pride like older guys did. Im 26 and alot of people my age i wouldnt work with for lack of pride in there work. Sad times we are heading to.
Seeing younger people with great work ethics like you makes me feel better about the future. I think sometimes generational blame gets spread around a little to easily when personal accountability should be everyone's goal. To be honest every generation has thought the one after them was hopeless and lazy. I try to have faith in every individual until they prove me wrong.

Hello! A little late to the party but just wanted to thank you for making such an informative video! Thanks for sharing! hope you find more that you like and please reach out if you have questions!
@@charleysgarage I was curious about something, i saw recently a couple was driving a bus and their Psi dropped to nothing while they were on an downward curved road. This was almost devastating for them. I always thought buses had a safety preventative mechanic for Psi/air compression. Or is this more for electric modern buses? Thanks!
@@illydahlia8725 If we are talking about Air Pressure the parking brakes on an air brake truck are spring applied and air released. If their air pressure dropped that low the parking brakes should have applied and they wouldn't be moving. That is the safety feature. If you are talking about oil pressure I am not sure what you mean?
@@charleysgarage hmm. I'm not sure what i mean either. LOL. I'm still learning and not even a beginner. I have the link to the video i was watching, they don't really go over what the issue was in this, just state the Psi dropped out, and that they had no brakes, and she basically pulled the key? I am wondering what would cause this sequence of events?ruclips.net/video/cP4QuRi0C3s/видео.htmlsi=Fou5vwLdLO8SrgWB Sorry for the journey, this was part of what peaked my interest in learning about air compression brakes. Thanks!
Great job explaining the fuel system. Did not know about fuel cooling the ECM. Very informative. Thanks for taking time to put this together and post. I really appreciate all your videos. Thanks again!
Thank you!
How did you get an alternator to work?
I found a bracket adaptor assembly on Amazon that made it possible. I think I found it in the customers also bought this area and said "oh! that's a good idea".
My 289 was not at all happy trying this. The water pump had to be flipped to install and still fighting to put an alternator.
What year is your car. Is the radiator bottom (outlet) on the right side or left side? That would be the only reason I can think of it needing flipped, later model years they moved it to the left (drivers) side, mine is on the right., there is another video on the channel where I show how I got the alternator mounted.
@@charleysgarage it is a 1962 Ford Econoline with a 1965 Ford 289,,, The pully on the crank shaft on the engine is too big if the pump isn't flipped. You can't put the aluminum hose mount on the pump.
@@HellenKillerProject That makes sense, the chassis on those vans makes any modifications a pain. not a lot of room to work with.
@@charleysgarage It is the size of the crank shaft pulley, and still trying to find a way to mount an alternator. Going to have to build a mount.

I put the 69 Cougar C9WE clutch fan on my 69 351W 4V Mach 1 with 20" rad since 69 Mustang only had a clutch fan for the 24" rad. Obviously the 24" rad with the bigger diameter clutch fan would be better, but my setup with 10 degrees initial timing kept my engine cool
the 24" radiator is definitely a great add. That extra cooling capacity is a big bonus.

It’s been a while since I did it but I’m pretty sure I didn’t have to buy anything separately.
Can I use a newer charge air cooler than what's on my 2015 6.7 since they're cheaper?
If it is a similar size and you can mount it yes.
Diesel exhaust contains 3 to 17% oxygen, it is not inert like gasoline engines. We need much larger percentage of exhaust gas to reduce combustion temperature.
Thanks for that info. I was never sure of those specific numbers. I’ve also been told a peak of 25-20% of exhaust gas when EGR I valve is full open.
Hi Charley! I have the same project to do on my 67 Gt. Looking at all those wires, It almost gave me a panic attack! lol. Hey buddy, great job explaining the Cummings emissions system. You have just addressed my current problem. I have a 2014 ISX15. I am currently having an issue with the 7th injector possible overdosing. I have a Doc and Dpf temp that has read 3200 degrees and would cause the truck to signal a shut engine down. I managed to clear the code and regenerated in a controlled environment so that I could monitor the Temps and also heat gun the exhaust system when this occurred again. When it happened again, the light proceeded to activate, and the Doc showed 3200 deg, then the DPF followed suit. I checked with a temp gun while this was going on, but the temp gun showed 1032 degrees at its highest. The SCR stayed at around mid 800 inlet and high 700 at the outlet. Can the DOC handle this much temp, or could that be a fault/default reading once the Temps reach its max threshold? Should I replace the DOC if it has reached a higher than normal temp as well as the DPF filter? When I had the Dpf off to get clean, it failed. They cleaned, and it passed, but when they tried the pin test, it only went half way threw. Your thoughts?
The only way to know for sure is take it apart and see if the DPF element is melted. 3200 is high but the temp you recorded with the gun isn’t so I really can’t know for sure if it caused other issues without knowing which temp is accurate. Again, removing and inspecting would be my first step.
0:11 I've got the same mustang, I just cannot drive this classic car with peace of mind because of the same overheating issues, I'm gonna run exactly what you said
Let me know how it works out.
Any update on the build?
