The journey from Japan to Egypt has begun!✨ Took the bullet train to Haneda Airport, then flew through Istanbul to Cairo. After a long trip, I finally arrived in one piece-though my butt took a beating! But feeling the Egyptian air is totally worth it. Stay tuned for the adventures to come!

Ours Inn Hankyu: Opened in March 2011, this hotel is super convenient, just 30 minutes from Haneda Airport and Tokyo Station. The rooms might be a bit small, but they're super clean. What a joke! The GEM is the world's grandest museum of Egyptian antiquities and CAMERAS are banned? Why would anyone go there? I am heading to Cairo in a few weeks. Was looking forward to shooting the GEM, not now. I won't even BOTHER to go there. I'll just go to the National Egyptian Museum in downtown. Totally stupid, just like the rest of Egypt, where from what I've read, NOTHING MAKES SENSE.

Weird to leave passport to get headphones. I’m not leaving g my passport to anyone.
That would be very anxiety-provoking to surrender your passport for something like that. It's understandable that it might be used as collateral, since it's so valuable to the owner. But I would be nervous the entire time I didn't have my passport with me.

If you kept your smartphone with you why didn't you take any images from inside the museum itself. This video leaves me wondering what's in there and is it worth it. Perhaps you could add a review of the museum. From what I saw it looks like an airport terminal
Actually, what you see in the video is all that is currently open to the public. The museum is still under construction, and most of it is unfinished. The visitable area is very limited, and to be honest, 1,000 Egyptian pounds seems quite expensive for what you get.
It's quite telling that the comments here concern the museum architecture and not the amazing artefacts within it....
The look-at-me building overwhelms the sublime artwork.

Every institution in the world, these days, operate on pop culture ideas and themes, too, no matter how "serious" they are. These things take tons of money to keep them running. Pop culture ideas --- what you'd call "tacky" here --- are some of the best ways to keep visitors and tourists (money) flowing into your stuff. But, as other have said it: it's what's inside these exhibition places --- the real stuff as well as the replica's --- that's important; not the facade outside. If mankind is to preserve only a few things, these 3-5 thousand year-old Egyptian stuff are among those that should be preserved. Today, the Egyptians may have fallen behind a bit; but 3 to 5 thousand years ago, they're the most educated, most powerful, and most gifted, when it came to oversized ideas and stuff, from buildings to conquests...

Unfortunately, the souvenir gift shop is inside the museum, so you have to pay 1,000 Egyptian pounds to get in.
