2005 - 2008 Nissan Frontier timing chain replacement Part 4
Просмотров 28 тыс.9 лет назад
Timing chain replacement on a 2005 Nissan Frontier. The engine makes a loud whining noise due to secondary tensioner and chain contact. Paying comprehensive insurance on this car so need to get this fixed so it does not damage the engine. There is a class action lawsuit against Nissan because of this issue. I've also been advised to file a complaint with NHSTA for this issue.

Man.....if I hear that shit when I start my truck after doing this im going to have a heart attack and start throwing shit, may even go kick the dog and slap the wife. What could have caused the rattling is he may not have primed the chain tensioners with oil. You should soak and exercise your new tensioners in oil. Its takes time for the engine to prime them itself. What you maybe hearing is the slack in the chain because the tensioners are not primed. Its not good to run the engine with the chain slapping around so just soak the tensioners and take that issue out of the equation.
Dudes holding that tensioner like its a hand grenade
Great tutorial, I appreciate it.

My friend is 29 for xl size or 27.5?
How long did it take you?
Top... Thanks
That’s todays job 👍🏻
Frame size?
This frame is Extra Large size
@@diybillyc5000 woah, how tall are you?
@@valeraanovsk1468 6 feet exactly
Nice one thanks for sharing.Stay safe! God bless!
Thank you !!
Can I ask why you didn’t just buy a higher spec version of the bike? Because that’s more economical
Other than the Race option, the specs are pretty much the same across the hardtail lineup. So upgrades would have been required regardless. Getting a cheaper version and upgrading seemed more cost effective overall.
@@diybillyc5000 oh that’s makes sense
What happand to the seat and grips
The seat was very low quality
Good video, thanks. And many thanks for using a tripod, or at least setting the camera down while filming. I'm still woozy from trying to watch a couple of other videos where they were wearing the camera or had it strapped to the back of a drunk bobcat. Cheers.
Was that the entire coolant system? I have a major leak and I am preparing to pull my coolant system apart to find where the issue is.
Yes this great video preparing to do the same before the summertime, it to cold right now.
I am having a bluto RL front. You think if I have a panaracer fat b 29x3.0 , will it touch the fork arm?
Thanks for this video ,i needed this information !
Thanks for the video! Need to tackle my cooling system ASAP. Just need to buy all the new parts now 👍🏼
Thanks
I dont have a whine sound. My 250k mile Frontier just lost coil and started missing. After replacing the plugs, coils, vvt solenoids, vacuum lines, intake gaskets, o2 sensors, plugged cats, etc... it runs great but no power above 40mph and random misfire code. Timing chain? or Fuel pump?
What do you feel this job is worth $$$. I hate i may have to do this. I love my old 2006 frontier.
interesting set of videos. Thanks for this. I am contemplating this job. How did you remove that pipe in the center of the timing case?

Hi, do you know if this engine is toast or if I can fix it. I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The crankshaft is turning 360 degree or half way. I just changed the timing belt and I found that the timing key was not aligned but the engine didn't turn on.
Was this the 4.0 or the 2.5L?
It's a 4.0L
Now iam sure you didnt use gear stop for flyweel to avoid crank from rotating you Just be car full not to touch the crank shaft pulley 😂 so clever in this 👍👍👍
Sroor9001 .1month ago
Did you use gear lock to stop flyweel?
No. I did not use gear lock on the flywheel. I used an old serpentine belt to hold the crank pulley in place while I loosened the bolt
Hi friend want to know about the wrench on the cam you have hold it when you are lossening the bolt of bigger sprocket then for the second you have shifted to smaller sprocket and hold other cam with the wrench 😳 So you are doing same thing with driver side and you have to remove valve cover to hold the cam also to unbolt sprocket or bigger cam gear? Hope ill get an answer 😢
Hello. on each side there is intake and exhaust manifolds but both of them are the same size wrench if I remember correctly
ver good video
Uh boy that sounds iffy- Let us know how it turned out... That was a lot of work... thanks For filming it.. so interesting to See the inner workings 👍🙏😌
do you want to come over and do the same job on mine? I'll pay.
Did the new Nissan kit work? Is it an upgrade or the same stuff just new? Do you have any noise problems since fixing it?
Ima just drop in another engine, this is too much to do
hokiedokie how will that be easier? Also $1500 - $3000 for a used engine that will have to have the same thing done to it.
@@ko4gpa i plan on stripping down a 15-17 long block with lower miles on the engines that dont have this problem..since the dealership charges the same amount to have this problem repaired
Hi your oil pressure is dropping due to your oil gallery gasket being blown, broken... Just below your right intake cam... That makes your hydraulic cam tensioner bounce and makes your chains rattle...you have to do this all over again as the guides are in full contact constantly... I have built several of these... Good luck buddy
Something isn't right thats for sure.
Guys, if you want to save yourself some time stop here and watch these 4 vids.....or at lease until you get to the timing case. This fellows goes through and does the job as good as your going to find. All the others will do is confuse you on their theories of engine timing issues. The one most watched didn't even start his engine to show us and had lots of issues he deleted without explanation. Very good job Billy.
what frame is that?
Questions....did you need to drain the oil and coolant before doing this and do you actually have to put the engine at Too Dead Center when doing it?
Yes you need to drain the oil and coolant. I also replaced the water pump because it was a convenient time. Top dead center is the best position and is recommended by the service manual
hi cool video bro, im in south Africa just for interest, now tel is the automatic 328i e46 n the 528i automatic uses the same radiator?
This was a great video overall. It was a great overview from start to finish. marking each bolt was a great idea since there are so many and different sizes.
Yes thanks
Billy, which trail is this?
very helpful video.thank you for taking the time to make it.
My left sproket and phaser on the right side looking from the inside of the car when I removed the main chain, kind of spunned counterclockwise, I managed to return it to where it was. Do you think that it could affect the engine functioning and the overall end result? Please let me know.
I meant my right sproket and phaser.
Did you have any issues with that repair? Was everything ok? Please let me know.
Billy c what was the result, did it work after the job? Let me know please
Yes I'm still running the car without any timing issues
You should have recorded the way you mounted the chains and how you move the marks in place.
You have to be careful not to rotate anything. That's the most important part
You are showing the marks, you did not show how you did it.
Much love! Thanks so much for posting this info. You saved my butt for sure
No worries. I'm glad it helped you.
can you put the timing chain in back wards
What seller/store on eBay? Do you know if they are still available? Nice build!
Could you tell what is the width of the rims and what is the width of these tires on these rims?
The rims are 29 mm internal width and the tires are 29 x 3.0 but the actual width is about 2.7 inches
Thank you! I have a similar experience: I try to use the front wheel with a 29x3 Chaoyang tire. Rim 26 mm - internal width and 33 mm - outer. At a pressure of 4 atmospheres, the tire is inflated up to 70 mm wide. At 2 atmospheres or less, up to 65-66 mm along the tread. But it looks taller and fatter than 29x2.5 Maxxis.
And I really like your rear wheel. Panaracer 2.5 " is better than Maxxis:)
