    Always nice to know this one. It's a basic skill for SCUBA dives but so important. You jump into the water from more than a 5 foot drop, chances are high the mask might fling off your face if you weren't holding it

    See I know how to do this but once my mask is on it doesn’t leave my face since I wear contacts otherwise I’d be blind 😂

    For first timer, this lesson part is easily to make one panicking 😅. The saltwater could be overwhelming and irritating the eyes. Should be able to calm down and breathing.

    I did that a few times when I did my first dive with friends in Tenerife. We’d never done it before, panicked a small bit but listeners to what we were told on the surface, even did a practice one where we got to fill our mask with water just below the surface to understand how it works. Anytime we panicked our instructor held us, looked us dead in the eye, slowed our breathing down kept eye contact, reminded us what to do, we did it and moved on no panic. Excellent teacher

    Yeah definitely the scariest part of scuba training took me a minute to keep from getting overwhelmed but overall its not a bad experience once you learn to control your nerves

    I used to do this to clean it deep down in the water. Because it used to tarnish a lot.

    This is why I failed my qualification. I took my mask off at 10 meters as instructed by teacher, and the pressure on my face caught me by surprise that I sniffed water in my nose and freaked out and swam up. Then my fight or flight response took over and I could not move when I returned back down. So I failed

      @waywardriley 4 дня назад

      It happens often, don’t feel bad. It’s best to practice this at the surface until you are comfortable to prevent a rapid ascent panic later.

    As a Public Safety Diver, I can always count on my mask unexpectedly coming off at least once during a call due to various reasons. Things get a little trickier when diving in a full face mask. But with a regular mask, this skill should be practiced OFTEN so the diver won't experience panic when it does inevitably happen... Nice instructional video. Well demonstrated and explained..... From Lansing, Michigan. Wishing you and your loved ones a great week.

    It may look easy, but it's not. If you don't have any experience, you will stop breathing or even spit out your breathing device the moment you lose your mask.

    I remember it being terrifying the first time we had to take our masks off to put them back on. Completely disorienting and youbhave to remember to dtay calm and keep breathing through your mouth, which, unless youre a natural mouth breather, feels completely unnatural. Especially since you're literally underwater.

    When I first started scuba diving at 14 my father always removed my mask out of nowhere by hitting it in the most unexpected moment. Thanks to that even when my masks strap tore off mid dive, I was able to continue with no problem
