That's not true about College Program. CPs automatically have 2 years seniority during the duration of the program because Disney is charging them rent. So they are guaranteed FT. They turn around and take most of what you make right back. I was a CP at Disneyland and then I stayed on. I went from working 40+ hours per week during the program down to 4 hours per week immediately after the program ended. I applied to everything they offered at the time with FT and 3rd Shift Custodial was the only one that called me back. It wasn't impossible to get FT. But once in 3rd Shift, it was next to impossible to get out and switch to a day position.

Im afraid to work at disney because of the "disney magic". Everything you say has to be coated in this pixie dust shit and im just not that type of person. I guess the closest thing at universal would be the wizarding world part but I think that is just the right level for it. I don't know if i'm explaining it right but seeing cast members working I know I would just be going insane pretending im happy 24/7 while barely making enough to pay rent. Universal just overall seems less uptight I see ride operators talking to each other on platform and I like that. Cause they human not little Disney robots.

I worked at Pop for almost 4 years in merch. Years later I worked at M.K. for one week, left then returned one year later was rehired worked at H.S. for half a day, was put on a rehire status. Now I am only going to work at a hotel in merch or front desk. YES, working at the parks vs the hotels is like night and day.

One of my friends has been a CM full time with Disney for a little over 4 years, and he said after working in multiple other workplaces in the North East, the union is fairly lousy. He said their “benefits” are not as great as some believe who haven’t worked in other corporations.

I’ve worked at both. I think it’s better to sign up for job fairs. Usually the person who is interviewing you will ask your availability and they will try to make your schedule for both

Just so you’re aware college programs don’t have seniority over anyone on paper, but in practice they’re higher to part timers and tied with full timers

If anyone ever works at disney, please be aware that union is useless, they’re owned by disney. You can join them for less risk of being fired, but they’re completely useless

Being in person is an immediate hire

You don’t get hired through phone interview, higher chance if you go in person

Disney pay better, great benefits and better work culture...

So do PT cast members get medical benefits at Disney? Or only FT?

I’m a Audio Engineer with a lot of experience and skill sets, I applied for 5 or more Audio tech positions for Universal Studios Orlando and blew through all my applications, never once even got a chance for a interview. At least with Disney I got a digital interview to do. And apparently Disney won’t hire for Tech till 2022.

Hi! New subscriber here. I actually work at Universal currently. I started as a scareactor during HHN 2019. I was in the US haunted house. After that I picked up random shifts at attractions and at the end of night shows. And then I was able to get a job at the merchandise warehouse because I have warehouse experience. Also yesterday I got a phone interview from Disney for their warehouse job. Seems like I got the job but since I have some scheduling issues because I’m getting married in October, the interviewer said I’d be on a waiting list. On my Disney dashboard it says I’m “in consideration” and she said she would get back to me sooner than later. Just nervous now because of what you said about the waiting list. Anyways long comment.
