They were good, and they knew they were good.
Don’t think that’s Peter Ainscough on drums
Bobby Rosengarden, is on Drums, Peter is on Percussion
The drummer is my uncle Peter Ainscough
I hate television. It is Satan's box, far too powerful. I love mellow relaxing jazz and classical music. God bless.

R.I.P Mundell Lowe. Beautiful relaxing calm music. Thank you
I always remember Louis from RTE television as a young lad. I saw him once in Clifden with Honor Heffernan.
Adam,your dad kicked ass.
Beautiful......
King Louis R.I.P. A genius on our doorstep, so said Bren Sheeran my teacher.
Great to see these clips of Louis. A real treat to listen to his lyrical playing. Many thanks
Stunningly beautiful playing all around!!
Very nice! Does Mr. Blonde guitar switch from fingers to pick?
Brian Dunning must sleep with his flute! Incredible!
Brian was a great player, sadly deceased.
Bravi
Beautiful playing all around... I'm very sad Louis has left us.....and yet he still leaves us little gems.
Thanks for the posting of this! What year is this? James was top notch!
Would you know if this perfromance was ever released on audio as an album?
No, it was only ever broadcast on Irish TV, RTE used to record a lot of the performances from the Cork Jazz Festival, and. then air them a few months later.
@@deangelico Livia Records is now planning an album release
Thanks very much for posting it. I was there. The hightlight for me was all of their solos on Stephen but particularly Louis' ones. So much joy in the interplay in their solos. Eamonn Morrissey is just superb.
Most welcome, yes indeed it was a truly great night, I have posted elsewhere on some of the hurdles that Louis had to go through to get this performed, there was one incident, just at the start...Eamonn was very nervous, as not being a Musician, he was not used to cue's, and, missed the initial one, for him to start his narration, Louis just ambled over to him, and, said, Any time now head.
That's so funny to hear. Lousi was great - such dry humour and so relaxed. I can remember him saying at the end - 'I'd like to thank the Arts Council for the few shillins...' @@deangelico
Yeah
Yeah
Can’t possibly be beat ,!
This one goes back to WWII... He would know, being a veteran of WWII. Look at those smooth, sweep picked phrases.
Wonderful
the coolest cats in town, period... incredible performance - Louis' solo transcends time and space... divine!
So beautiful music I had never heard it before! Thanks guys!
Wonderful.
This is so unique and really refreshing. It is truly WOW!!!
Is this not just the most beautiful demonstration of the fact that this music is about so much more than just notes. This music for me is so much about feelings. When I was a very young guy just starting to learn to play the sax my teacher told me something I have never forgotten. He told me that when you learn a song dont just learn the notes - learn the words of the song as well or if ther
very true, as you mention that you were studying Sax, you probably know that one of it's most capable exponents, Dexter Gordon, quite often introduced a tune by way of the lyrics, before playing the tune
Perfect performance, who knows all the artist names?
Louis Stewart, Guitar, Jim Doherty, Piano, Len McCarthy, Alto Sax, Richie Buckley, Tenor Sax, Brian Dunning, Flute, Steve LaSpina, Bass, Bobby Rosengarden, Drums, Peter Ainscough, Percussion, Eamon Morrissey, Narration

How can there be such beauty in this world!
Great solos by both Mundell (melodic) and Louis.
Legends it doesnt get any better than this. They are a sad loss to jazz
RIP the great Louis Stewart. Saw him many times in Dublin in my youth. Mostly upstairs in the Parnell Mooney.
That was a great, and busy time for louis, he played Tue,in Baggot Mooney, Wed, in Dunlaoire Mooney, and, Thurs, in Parnell Mooney

@@deangelico You got it !!!
Many thanks - well worth waiting for.
Ahh! great, I was not sure that you would see my message.
NOt that many remember Mundell Lowe any more. He was one of the greats. His playing reminded me a bit of the legendary Johnny Smith.
Louis was gold!!!
Hi, just started searching for this, I remember it well. Great work to get it posted here. Is this the entire clip from RTE? Priceless, as we celebrate 100th anniversary of Ulysses in 2022. All such great performers: Eamonn Morrissey reading lyrically, Louis Stewart playing lyrically…well done.
Hi, glad that you are enjoying it, and, yes it is the full program. Many years ago I uploaded the music only , I had to strip out the dialogue, I have been trying for a long time to upload it, and, hope that it can stay up

You can't feel it unless he, the musician, feels it; he feels it.
Very well said.
