Beautiful city but not the nicest people

I’ve loved living there. But being transferred with my husband job, still saddened me 26:years. I’d move there in a section, just wish my house was for sale.

Been here for over a year and deeply regret coming here. Awful people. The worst I've ever met in my life and I thought Jamestown N.Y. was bad. Do NOT make the same i made and come here. It's NOT what it used to be 20 years ago. What a hell hole!

Would like to see a review like this on the VA beach job market. I lived in VA beach for a few years as a transfer into ODU and enjoyed it. I've considered moving back and have been unclear on how the economy would be for non-veterans. From some job searches it has been hard to figure out what the professional market would be like. Would like to understand some more about fields and industries in the area. Mainly, how feasible it would be to make a decent living in comparison to other large cities.

Might move there in August 2025, German Military with prospects to PCS to SACT in Norfolk. As a single dad, schools is the absolute focus. A normal U.S. high school diploma does not give you university access in Germany, the standard is too low. So my daughter will go to a high school with an International Baccalaureate program. Which determines where you move, school district and all, something we don’t know either in secondary education (if you want to go to school X 50 miles away, you just go, as long as they also want you 😜). So while working in Norfolk, residence will be in VB, by the looks of it. As with any place to live, it is what you make of it. As now a senior Soldier I have moved 18 times so far, and it never really sucked anywhere because you can find fulfilling stuff to do everywhere (even in remote spots in Eastern Germany…🙈😂). Proximity to the sea will be great, we live about a 5 hour drive from the Netherlands coast of the North Sea, so we rarely have that (5 hours is considered a long drive in Germany, not an extended commute 😉 gas is EXPENSIVE). Looking forward to it, hoping my General, who has to sign off on me going to that post, is granting me my Xmas wish 🙏🏻🫡

Safe… so this school year there has been a gvn threat in one Chesapeake school and the other (my school) has had two teachers arrested for felonies between sept 10th-oct 1st

Vb is decent. The roads are in absolute shambles in terms of quality but other than that it’s fine.

Born and raised in Norfolk, in recent years, the oceanfront has gotten ALOT more fun. By recent I mean the past 10 years. Every year gets better and better. Norfolk is a ton of fun too. Only issue is things die down a lot in the winter, however… if you can tolerate a couple hour drive, hiking is amazing. I’ve lived here my whole life, and although I want to travel elsewhere and spend some of my life away from home, I know I’ll come back here eventually. I love this area (aside from the corrupt govt)

5 must knows lol 1. Its a trap lol 2. Summer time = imeadiate swamp ass and mosquitos. 3. 8t is a nice place but there's a lot of stuff people don't talk about. 4. Tourist season will drive a priest to drink. 5. Be ware we have a homless problem and also some people begging aren't homless or in need.

No - it's overpriced especially with taxes, High Crime being it is a sanctuary city, and over crowded with military, vacationers, and now some migrants! Moved here in 2004 when I joined the navy and loved it until earlier 2010's then just got too damned crowded and prices on everything went up! Not worth it far better options out there!!!

Being from Richmond I would say Norfolk it's been so long since I been in that area gonna have to make a trip there .
