Hive Registration & Crafty Beekeeping
Please could you do a mite wash on U tube and break down the ratio of the treatment. I am not familiar with this acid and this video on U tube was choppy. I am interested to avoid chemicals that weaken the bees.
I am new in bee keeping, so what is a mite wash?
Does bees see red? One would think that the bees would attack the varroa mite and kill it. What color does the bee not like?
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing your great research and advice.
Every good im working toward nuc factory thank you, mike ,help me requeen ,my swarm hive,
I have noticed in Central Texas, the colonies that have had the screened bottom boards with the corrugated plastic completely removed for the heat, have a lower mite load than hives with a solid bottom board. But I also don’t have the experience of many thousands of hives, my data pool is much lower. More like hundreds, not thousands of hives.
Randy, this hive has been living here without being treated against varroa and without being fed for at least, as far as we know, 29 years. ruclips.net/video/NM_agkweRmA/видео.html. During the whole bee lining, I have not seen a single varroa in the thousands of bees I have marked during a week to find it.
A young beekeeper on You Tube says that 'you' meaning anyone who has Varroa mite cannot eradicate them only control them which I find an astonishing statement because after three years I do not find any mites now as of spring 2024. I followed your methods and dangled the adsorbent stips 1 to 1 ox acid and food grade glycerine between 4 frames per hive for months. This did not seem to bother the bees one iota. All the three hives were busting at the seems and one swarmed. I caught that swarm and gave it a new Buckfast queen. This hive is now thriving after 10 days. The young lady might be doing something wrong because she is still persisting with vaporisation with O A.... I found that the fumigation with OA was not efficient due to killing hundreds of mites in one particular hive with the ER method = strips...... Why I wonder is there lame excuses publicised with the method that works even with supers on? best wishes to you in your excellent research regarding the so called illegal strips. I found they got me free of the worry of all the bloody lot of bees dying. As I said they are thriving .
45:41 what ration of the Dawn Ultra detergent to the water is used for mite count test? Is it same as "Dawn Ultra Dishwashing Liquid, Dish Soap"?
47:17 "Dawn solution" = 1 tbsp / half gallon of water
Whats the ratio of Dawn to Water when diluting the detergent wash? Metric & Imperial measurements please :)
This is crap content.
I can not do a brood break either. I want to try oav 7 treatment 5 weeks in a row what are your thought. Thanks I do not get a fall nectar flow either.
Why would we take anyone who starts with the junk science of climate crap seriously? Does he think SUVs caused the Younger Dryas?
I would never be able to do a 2 month brood brake I would not have a season 😂
So tell me I am in Canada and I have 5 months winter no brood why would that not be a good brake I just treat in the fall
Because the winter cluster brood ball doesn't circulate the chemicals that well.
Hi everyone. What would be European analogue to Dawn detergent? We don't have it here in Europe 😔.
Hey randy, I'm a small commercial queen breeder, I've experimented with try to breed vsh bees from a company in texas. No luck in reproducing bees that effectively handle mites. Do you know where I can find starter colonies or queens to start with.
That poor bee... Damn I hate the mites.
Same thing over and over.
Freaking awesome video
Thank you for this video. Appreciate it.
kirk webster doing free treatment for 30 years oliver ptomotes now
Thanks for sharing this, Randy is great, I wish the sound would had been better. we missed out on a lot when the sound went out.
Randy Oliver is definitely a rockstar of the beekeeping world. I just don't like the lags in the audio. I feel like I'm missing some key PC's of information. Another question I have is why don't we test drones for mites at all times, or at least whenever they are available? Or maybe we should be taking any number we get from a regular wash and multiply it by 7 since they are on the drones more frequently by 7x
Great presentation 🎉
Agreed 👍
I need to know have you guys ever wintered a hive up till April..the cluster is small but the queen laying and several days later of seeing her, she's gone?? I checked bottom board can't find the body and don't see her anywhere amongst the he bees robbing the hive
Thanks for uploading this so fast!
I like the idea of lowering the deck to original plan, and modifying the height for the ez loader, only concern is stress the loader would have depending on how😢 it’s mounted. Th ergonomics long term make up fo the hassle now. I’m no engineer just a farmer who doesn’t like lifting
Couldn’t have come at a better time! Great info, very approachable and easy to utilize 👌🐝
Thank you 😊 Glad it was helpful!!!
I dont understand why you have a teeny tiny pic of yourself and the rest of the screen is your power points. How about half and half?
There's no reason to see him though..we want to hear him and see the information right?
Thank you Mike!
Great information. I always enjoy your work
It seems that the goal of creating a breed that is completely resistant to varroa... does not exist... sad. Treating them every year I guess makes good buck for someone out there...
Mite immigration happens on the flowers being shared by other species of bees. Research Results from the United Kingdom and Germany indicate the varroa mite transmission being directly from the flower or bees sharing a flower and making physical contact.
They have genetically altered mosquitos in south america so when the mosquitos breed their offspring are sterile There needs to be work like this for bees 🐝
Too beed the mites out of fertility i mean
Tha nks for this Mike is the best I wish there was more videos with Mike he does not make vedios This man has great wisdom on the bees and being a bee keeper. Anyway Thanks again and have a Merry Christmas
super organism and we see the great dixie cup experiments. Some researcher spend millions for a half gram of substance. The largest machine in the world is a giant tv muon remote. Detected
I LOVE YOU!! :)
Honey bees also "milk" aphids, that's where honey dew honey comes from, it should be harvested pretty quickly because it crystalizes and is difficult or impossible to extract once it's crystalized.
Love this man! He really helped us get and fall in love with Bee Keeping♡♡♡♡♡
Message for Randy.... Place a reactive(changes colour when OA is present) sticky pad. Put stickers on top and bottom corners of all frames. Add OA . Check reactions on stickers. Should give info on distribution in the hive.
Minute 1:03:45 Bees get staight shooting scientists when people do not. Thank you for all or your diligent work and objective conveyance of information.
great research by yourself and team, thank you
Hi, Very good presentation! Quite scientific in places :-) This is how I imagine relevant research with usable outputs. Thanks and good luck with your next experiments.
Thank You for all your work!!!❣️🐝❣️
Hi Randy Does sterilization of the beehive by spraying oxalic acid with water harm the quality of bee honey?
Fantastic Presentation. Learned A-Lot! Thank you
This was great It would had been better if the questions were at the end and people used the mic, so we all could here Randy does a wonderful job, it is a sham that the epa and the fda have to be a butt hole.
Great information thank you for the work you do and I hope you have good luck getting this approved so we can start knocking down these mites
Dear Oliver, all your lectures and scientific approach in beekeeping is unique, especially in the way you try to understand beekeeping through the biology of bees. For the second year, I have been successfully using oxalic glycerin strips to control varroa. The EMA's delay in registering this ecological medicine is incomprehensible. Good luck with your further research.
