If you're looking for better software support and a newer kernel, then why are you sticking with Debian? Just choose an OS better optimized for those conditions, like Fedora or Arch.

Baffled not seeing Mint, OpenSuse or PopOS, but seeing KaOS.

When I was dabbling with Linux on my early 2009 Intel iMac, it was Linux MINT that gave me the best user-friendly experience, both with installation and operation. Ubuntu - any flavor - had the tendency to suck, and I was never able to get either openSUSE or Fedora to install properly, let alone run. The takeaway - never omit Mint in any of these "best of" distros for Macs.

The most offputting part of desktop Linux propaganda is the way they proclaim "everything works" on a completely disfunctional system. The last time I remember Linux worked out of the box was a Fedora in '98. Since then any given distro either refuses to install outright, or major functions can't launch, i.e. network. And don't even mention the mess that are nvidia drivers. This all is on Thinkpads, Intel NUCs and a couple of self-assembled boxes. Touch is a separate topic. One of the major brands is MS Surface Pro. No go either on my Pro 6 or Pro 9. And a couple of cheap Chinese throwaway x86 tablets. Of course, if I'm willing to spend the effort I can make it run reasonably well (depending on your definition). But don't call this "easy". Until you people begin to acknowledge it this is going nowhere. And, BTW, check what Linus has to say about desktop Linux.

Linux Lite seems good, I will try it. By the way, what is your opinion about AntiX Linux? It is quite light and fast, and I used it for old computers.

While I don't particularly like Nix language, I think functional package managers and functional distros are a goal to aspire to. I see no reason Fedora solutions should not be translatable to Suse, Debian or Arch. The directory standard (/usr/bin, /usr/lib and their brothers) are an old standard we need to move away from, anyway. I see no other way out of the dependency hell we find ourselves in RN.

great video. i am using zorin now and love it. I am a linux fan.

I run EndeavourOS as my daily driver, but also run Xero and Garuda - if you want eye candy, you need to check them out. Xero is a curated install that leaves you with 100% pure Arch. Garuda uses the zen kernel, and their Dragonized edition is aimed at gamers. I have had too many problems with Manjaro - they hold packages back and so are not 100% Arch compatible, and as a result there can be issues with AUR packages.

One can rice any distro to look the way you want it.

Honestly, CachyOS should be the best overall.
