Can Non-Pilot Fly a Helicopter??? @megan_bair
Просмотров 42 тыс.2 года назад
We let a non pilot take the controls of an R44 helicopter? What happened next? Hovering a helicopter is by far one of the hardest things a student just starting can learn. What happens if we take someone with zero flight experience and toss them right into hover work? How will they do? This is what we did with Megan. After completing our onboard interview about her tremendous success on her soc...

Bell 206L4 Helicopter Flying over Georgia Swamps
paramedics aren’t physicians…absolutely you have fewer hands but you follow protocols, which are written physician orders…same as the nurse…you can’t say…gee I want to do a quadruple cardiac bypass to fix this patient’s heart attack…paramedics sometimes forget that they’re practicing under physician orders as much as nurses do…they also don’t have the depth of education that nurses do…paramedics are very valuable and you could even argue they practice a very narrow scope of medicine … but they’re truly mid-level practitioners, as are nurses. It’s why PA-Cs and ARNPs are increasingly being called advanced practitioners, because in more and more states they are permitted to practice independently and nurses and paramedics are permitted to do more advanced procedures… but despite the greater degree of independence in the field … nurses and medics still need physician and / or AP orders to practice whether they’re spoken or written. I used to be a paramedic and a nurse before I was hurt in a crash and lost my right leg and injured my neck…I’m now a neuroscience nurse and psychiatric nurse and brain injury consultant but I follow emergency medicine closely still…so I’d advise anyone deciding to consider both …make it a Reese’s PB cup…you got your paramedic in my nurse…you got your nurse in my paramedic
Please tell me you’re zoomed in on the helicopter and not that close to the LZ
Standing 10 feet away seemed safe to me .... Zoom of course :)
Is an ADN with experience enough to get hired or is BSN necessary?
BSN helps, but is not required. As long as you have your RN
😊
The guy in the back is named Jodi? Is that how its spelled?
Yes, her name is Jodi
So beautiful.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very cool story… love it
Thanks for the ride, Steven.
I'm considering starting helicopter pilot school next year in Klamath, and this pretty much confirmed it. So gorgeous! :)
Is flight also flies helicopter?
No, nurses/paramedics don't fly the helicopter. That job is specifically for the pilot.
Unless you're strange like me and have both Paramedic & Helicopter Pilot certifications/licenses :) However, you are correct. The pilot and medical crew are different people.
I saw my car!
Cool
wow, the last time I was there loading ships was 1990 there was no where near that many container cranes. as a matter of fact I think there was still one or two old fashion gantry cranes still standing. That is some substantial growth in the intervening years.
Great video. I've been in and out of Klamath all my life and I never got a view from the top until now.
When I was trying for my private, I went to Kenny for his Final Approach Course to get my check ride. He is the best instructor I have ever had the pleasure of flying with. He's tough but he cares and wants to make sure you know everything to a T and this attitude is reflected in his online ground school, which I still use. His comment of "I never send a student into a checkride alone" is true. I look forward to flying with him again sometime under less stressful and time constrained circumstances 😂
Cameron, I agree Kenny is amazing! In fact, I was also one one of his FAC students. I finished my check-ride with him last summer in his beautiful yellow R44.
Great info! Would it be possible to be put in touch with Jodie?
Go to my site StevenFlies.com and fill out contact form with your info. I’ll pass it on
Can you ask which study she is referencing regarding 12 vs 24 hour shifts? Please leave link below
Thank you for recording and posting this for us, well appreciated. Reminds me that I need to visit home. SFC Kevin M. DeVos
I have had the absolute honor and pleasure to have Jodie as an instructor at new hire academy. She is the real deal. 15+ years in EMS and Jodie was by far the best instructor I have ever listened to. Knowledgeable, humble and just plain awesome. Every base should have a Jodie.
Ha! I was so surprised because there's so little about Saint Regis. Bummed to find out that there wasn't a bit of our little town shown. This is just before the Slow Way exit, skips Superior all the way to The Gorge just before Alberton and skips again to somewhere closer to Missoula.
How are you able to afford a 206 working as a paramedic? That's a dream to even be able to train in one, to get hours lol
I own a software biz, paramedic is on the side
Can you fly over the dam ? or is it a no-fly area
I want to be a flight paramedic but I’m concerned the companies can’t afford to keep employees these days. Air methods just filed for bankruptcy and they were one of the best flight services in the US, so it’s concerning.
The industry has a lot of challenges, however, the career path will be in demand for awhile. The skills you learn are always in demand.
I absolutely love the Bell 407. It is one of my favorite helicopters of all time.
Agreed they are great machines
Well . . . $140 to capture the audio during my once in a lifetime hands on helicopter flight is kinda expensive. Looking for an alternative. BTW I commend you on your choice of terminology. "Shooting video", yes!!! Cuz there is no film in your GoPro, or your phone.
$140 for a "one time use" is very expensive I agree. However, keep in mind the cost for me to fly around and shoot videos including helicopter, fuel, and crew is about $2,000 per hour. So $140 one time, isn't that bad :)
I thought about this career pathway, and by chance Kobe died that week, so I said…nope & applied to CRNA school. Bless those who have the nerve for it.
People die in cars every day.
That was t a helicopter problem, it was a pilot flying when he shouldn't problem
Very interesting to see the utilisation of Flight Medics in the US. Here in Australia a Flight Nurse will typically be found on fixed wing aircraft of the Flying Doctors (RFDS). Our ambulance service rescue helicopters are crewed by a Flight Paramedic who mostly have Critical Care Paramedic ranking and have aeromedical and winch training.
G'day mate. What part of Aussie are you in? I have family in QLD.
@@StevenFlies We're halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast tucked away in an area called the Gold Coast Hinterland. Beautiful part of the country too. I've only ever flown as an impromptu flight paramedic once (more accurately, a paramedic who went up in a graziers R44 looking for a lost station hand when I was working at a rural ambulance station). I have a few workmates who are attached to our ambulance rescue choppers. As you would probably be aware, all ambulance service helicopters here are winch equipped.
I flew a few lessons there with Executive back in the day 😎
Great, did you have fun?
I remember one time they did a medevac call. From. Manassas. All the way to Blacksburg. Virginia at 9000 feet. And I was tracking them the whole entire time.
That’s cool :) 😎
I wish they would fly in land at Lewis Gale hospital Montgomery or Carilion Radford medical center
I have never been to those hospitals, not sure who flies to them
@@StevenFlies carilion lifeguard sometimes Pegasus or Wake Forest or HealthNet
Nice
Thanks
wish you can do a flyover of post falls
Maybe next trip around the country :)
When i looked out the window and saw it i was like wow
Thanks
Lindo Bell Company de helicopter dos EUA sua fabricação parou em 2010 seu último modelo é o Bell 505 que não chamou tanta atenção quando os primeiros modelos
The 505 is an exciting aircraft, with some nice upgrades to the 206, but I wished they would have made it based on the L4 platform with the larger passenger cabin. O 505 é uma aeronave emocionante, com algumas atualizações interessantes em relação ao 206, mas eu gostaria que eles tivessem feito isso baseado na plataforma L4 com cabine de passageiros maior.
💚💚💚 😊Thank you so much for sharing
thanks
Lindíssima!!! Hey sweetheart how are you doing? Looking forward to your visual adventure! You take good care of yourself
thanks
Exquisite Snapshot love the view

thanks, good luck in school
Is this an old helicopter from an old company universal helicopters?
I am not sure
that looks so fun😃
thanks
I never heard of the place but it looks like a fun destination
It is a great place :)
The music in the video is the perfect accompaniment to the stunning visuals. It's relaxing, soothing, and enhances the overall viewing experience. I appreciate how the video takes a slow, measured approach to showcasing the area, allowing viewers to take in all the beauty at their own pace. It's a testament to the video's production team that they've created such a captivating and immersive experience.
Thanks for watching :)
flying these days is so underrated
Thanks for watching :)
I'm blown away by the Coeur d'Alene Resort's setting. The lake, mountains, and trees all come together to create a stunning landscape that's truly one of a kind. I appreciate how the video showcases the resort's many amenities, including the golf course and luxurious rooms. Still, it's the natural beauty of the area that steals the show.
Thanks for watching :)
must have been a lot of fun
Thanks for watching :)
The Bell 206L4 helicopter looks like the perfect choice for this tour. It's sleek, modern, and appears to be a smooth ride. The cockpit offers a fantastic view of the surroundings, and the pilot seems to navigate the area with ease. It's impressive to see how the helicopter maneuvers around the surrounding mountains and offers such an immersive experience for guests.
Thanks for watching :)
Happy flying, stay safe🤝
Thanks for watching :)
I can't stop watching this video - it's mesmerizing😃
Thanks for watching :)
Overall, flying to Keel & Curley Winery can be a memorable experience for private pilots, but it requires careful planning and preparation.
Thanks for watching :)
