No wonder Legacy, Rebirth, and Annihilation are forgotten. They look horrible. Also, what's up with Baraka in Rebirth? He looks human and not Tarkatan?
From what I remember reading about Rebirth, it was supposed to be based in reality. What if Reptile, instead of being from a race of lizard like people, he was a man that was born with a skin disease. What if Baraka, instead of being Tarkatan, was a plastic surgeon who made a bunch of modifications to himself. Rebirth eventually ended up becoming Legacy, hence Jax, Sonya and Scorpion being played by the same people in both.

Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat Annihilation were the only real movies...everything else was just trying to cash in on their success without any real substance or story.
The first one was great, and Annihilation was universally panned, they rushed the second one, there were a lot of production issues, casting continuity problems as well. The 2021 Mortal Kombat movie was actually pretty decent. I had to watch it a few times to arrive to this opinion, but it was pretty good. I think it started off great in feudal Japan and then the second and third act were not as good as the first act, but I hope that the second movie will be pretty good.

Imagine it's 1995, UMK3 set to come out in November, you're leaving the arcade after just playing some MK2. You get home, turn on the TV and, during the commercials you see the trailer for the 1st MK movie. The '90s.....you just just had to have been there to know the feelings.
