      @diycheapneasy6460 no I can't, my top piece of wood broke over the winter, so I have to replace that 1st. I've had the shade up for probably 8 years. When I do I'll add a middle pulley and see if that helps. It MAY be which way the rope is being pulled also, either rolling up in front of or behind the screen.

    Hi Albert. Firstly, thank you so much for your invaluable videos which are absolutely fantastic. I’m currently in the process of attempting to make one using your instructions, and I have a question. Apologies if it’s already been asked, but I did try first searching your comments but couldn’t find one. It’s constantly very windy where I live so how the blind is attached to our verandah posts is really important. But being able to pull them up and down very regularly is also important too. Your coupler idea is great and looks like it would be easy to use for my elderly mother’s hands when she wants to roll it up. But I don’t understand though why you’ve used the cap on just the left side.

    • @diycheapneasy6460
      @diycheapneasy6460 Год назад

      Good morning, and thank you! There's no particular reason that I had used a cap. I eventually replaced the cap with an elbow (90°) because I installed a sun shade on the end of my patio also and used the elbow for both of the shades. Using the PVC couplers are only one way to secure the shades at the bottom. Please use what works best for you and your mother. You can use rope tie downs by drilling a hole thru the PVC pipe and running a rope thru it and tying it around the post or maybe some velcro straps would work? Whatever you choose, I'm sure you will do a great job. Thank you for your comments and many blessings to you!

    Do you think this would work for a 5m wide by 2.5m high opening? Also, why didnt you put the furring stips at the top of your beam? That way you wouldnt see the blind when its rolled up (it is hidden completely from the beam whem not in use)

    • @diycheapneasy6460

    I may have missed it, but do you have a reference for running the line up, through eyelets, down under PVC edge, back up and over to the next eyelet to repeat and after the last eyelet all the way back across the top and down to your tiedown (or do you just tie it down at the lat eyelet)?

      @diycheapneasy6460 Yes, that helps. Could you have done it with one continuous line, just screwed down on the last one? Maybe there'd be too much friction to easily pull the line unless you used a small double-gang pully. I am thinking about making a roll-up golf hitting net... Cheers!
