I have an 04 FX4 with the 3v 5.4 in it, when ive got the hood open all i hear are injectors, cold or operating temp, however i do hear a dieselish sound from the lower end when i get down to the fender\step boards, do you think this would still be phaser knock? Doesn't get louder or anything when driving just stays about the same no matter what but only after it warms up. Only got 89k miles, been mostly well maintained that i know of.

When you want diesel sound with paying diesel price

OK, a bit late to the party, but: To calculate the size of a battery you'll need, add the Amperage draw of both the motor and your pump together. E.g., if the Drive Motor pulls 9 amps, and the pump motor 1 Amp,. then you have 10 Amps of load. Car batteries are rated in Amp Hours. As in, how many amps they can sustain for an hour. 100 Amp hours means it could (theoretically) power your setup for 10 hours. But, then the battery would be pretty dead. What kills batteries is using them. The deeper you drain them, and the faster you do it, the more life it takes off of them. I always double the capacity needed for an application like this, because you'll be charging it (I hope) at the end of the day. Basically, treat your batteries like you should your body,: Keep them well rested, well fed, AND well worked. And never use 110%. Always go 80% MAXIMUM for day-to-day, that way you'll have some left if shit goes south. Please note, this simplistic calculation works for a 12V load on a 12V system. If you're going to ad an Inverter in, factor in a 25% loss just for converting. Yeah, I know, inverters can be more efficient, but, have the excess available.
