Taveling from the south to the north in persuit of new skiing paradise. Using public transport, eating as spicy as they can, trying to avoid crowds, they found it. Setting up base camp on 4300m, hiking up to 6000m and skiing completely alone, lost between people of India.
This is a really great, very instructive and comprehensive series of backcountry videos. Thank you for sharing your in depth knowledge. Jens
What is the name of the device you used to belay the person from down below?
It is called a guide belay plate. Products you can look for are Blackdiamond ATC-Guide, Petzl Reverso or DMM Pivot. But please have someone experienced show you exactly how to use it. Particularly how to lower someone properly if the person is not able to clime up anymore.
You filmed in LOG picture profile, that s why the image is very desaturated and low contrast. Usually you use this picture profile only when you want to color grade the video, unless I recommend to shoot in Standard. Thank you for the video, very helpful and informative!🤗
Really nice video guys. I’d love to have the courage to try this someday.
Hi, i am building ski qiver. I am 190cm 80kg upper intermediate skier with some experience in ski touring. I ski mostly in BIH. In winter mostly inbounds and sidecountry and spring touring march to may. I have 80mm ski with ambition binding 50:50, I would use them for hard piste. I would buy 2 more skis. I am considering 88 or 96 ripstick with atk raider 12 for pure touring, and ripstick 106 with marker tour f12 or shift for mostly sidecountry freeride and at most 30% winter touring. Snow in BiH in winter is mostly "kložast" so i think ripstick 106 is better for winter. In spring snow is mostly ice, so 88 or 96. What would you you recomend? Thanks for answer :-)
Thanks for sharing, could you make more videos, show different levels?
This is a great explanation! Thank you for sharing
Thanks!
Cheers Rok. Have a great year
Thanks! You too.
Hi Guys. Happy new year. Great videos. Keep up the good work! What tour bindings would you recommend for the Ripstick 96 skiis?
Hi Hamish. It depends where you will be skiing the most - for mostly ski touring I would recommend a high quality metal pin binding - ATK works really well, for occasional touring~10% and mostly resort and freeride I would mount Shift. It also depends on your body weight. If you have 90+kg and specially for beginners I would recommend a safer option. In this case again someting like shift. For expert skiers you are safe to go with an freeride pin binding that you can use everywhere. Hope this helps. Regards, Rok Zalokar.
@@verticaladventuresslovenia5426 Hi ROK, thanks for the reply. Would the Marker Alpinist 12 be an option as well? Im 71kg in weight and skiing the Polish Tatra mountains. Thanks Hamish
@@hclarke116 it ok option, but if you still didn't buy it, I would recommend to go with a binding that's made out of metal. Less possibilities to damage it. For my taste there is too many plastic - composite components on it. But as I said, if you have it already mount it. Cheers.
Bravi !!!
Thanks! Means a lot!
Thank you for sharing this information
Thanks for watching 👍!
Bravo! :-D
Hvala 😁!
Super! 🙂
Hvala Alen 🙏!
Hi guys, I’d like to get your opinion I’m debating between Elan 96 or 106 to pair whit a shift for one quiver ski. Realistic use would be 50/50 for resort skiing and touring in the back country (potentially multi days). I’m 181 and 90kgs. I also considered G3 findr 102 with the ion, but I don’t feel like this set up would be very good for resort skiing, especially faster, harder skiing
Hi Petar. I have skied many days on both. It really depends where you come from, on what kind of snow you will be skiing for the most of the time. Since you have mentioned ski touring and even multy day trips I would suggest 96. Regarding the binding I would consider an ATK more freeride oriented binding. I am not really impressed with Shift for walking, but safety wise it is better. If its 50/50, personally I would take Ripstick 96-181 cm with ATK freeride 14. binding. You can check our Instagram @vertical_adventures_slovenia and you will see me skiing many days on 96. Hope this helps. Regards. Rok Zalokar.
another great vid! thanks guys and stay safe!
Thanks! Our pleasure. Yes, let's stay safe and just keep reminding ourselves... Snow always proves you wrong - words from Xavier De la Rue. See you in the mountains!
