    I have heard sand can be bad to put with clay soil, but can it be bad for other soil types??

    • @evergladesfarm445
      @evergladesfarm445 Месяц назад

      Yes, adding sand can be problematic depending on the soil. In clay soil, it can create a cement-like texture if not mixed correctly. In sandy soil, it may worsen drainage and nutrient loss. Loamy soil doesn’t usually need sand, as it’s already balanced. Organic matter like compost is often a better choice for improving most soils. So, while sand can have its uses, it’s essential to consider your soil type and use the right amendments in proper proportions!

      You can do it! 🤩 One tip we can give you is to place your banana tree in the sunniest spot possible, ideally near a south-facing window or balcony. Ensure it gets 6-8 hours of sunlight daily, with good air circulation to help it thrive in a small space. ☝🏼🤓

    The best way to grow any plant is in the earth directly, NOT a container.

  • @ThirdCoastGardening
    @ThirdCoastGardening 11 месяцев назад

    An avocado tree should be kept in a container for the first 5-8 years before planting in the ground. They don’t become cold hardy until they are mature, which happens at around 5-8 years. This is what I was taught during my master gardener fruit tree training. This information is referring to zone 9. Zones colder than 9 should keep their avocado trees in containers for the trees entire life.

      In America, the government stopped all teachings about REAL medicine or medicine that comes from the Earth, back in the early years of the 20th century. JD Rockefeller, along with the Carnegie Family and a few corrupt "scientists" had all textbooks with "natural" treatments/cures removed from every university and medical school across the country. Rockefeller owned 90% of the petroleum rights in the USA at that time and replaced natural medicines with petroleum based pharmaceuticals or "petrochemicals". This was called the new "Gold Standard" or medicine and everything else was "unscientific", or "folk medicine", with no real effects or value. Doctors and scientists who disagreed or defended "plant medicine" were ridiculed and often lost their licenses to practice medicine altogether. In 1900, around 160 "institutions of higher learning" existed in the U.S. By 1920, less than half that remained. Some of these plant medicines, many with thousands of years of documented use, were not only removed from the textbooks, buy production of that plant was stopped entirely and declared "ILLEGAL", One example of this is cannabidiol derived from the cannabis sativa plant; albeit, in this example, political and financial reasons play a role). Regardless, back to my point...🤔 lol,...in just one century, about 90% of Americans have little to no knowledge of REAL MEDICINES that aren't manufactured by Big Pharma. I've only been studying plant medicine for a little over a decade and I'm blown away daily by what I find. It has been a crime against humanity to keep these evidence-based treatments hidden from The People, not only in America, but anywhere in the world. Oh, and justbas a side note: these same people...helped create the AMA or "American Medical Association" AND, just a couple years later, "The American Cancer Society". Don't take my word for it. Research it. Much love and good health!

    What soil mixture to use in the container? Thanks!

    • @frankyancy1347
      @frankyancy1347 2 года назад

      I'm in SoCal, and it is better to use a 24inch or larger container. The soil should be all mineral like a mix of; sand, decomposed granite, vermiculite, cinders, perhaps a little peat moss etc. Organic amendments in it is what causes root rot. All organic mulch goes on top, about 4 inches of leaves, wood chips. One of the best trees here is the GEM for containers. Best of luck.

    • @0anant0
      @0anant0 2 года назад

      @@frankyancy1347 Thanks for the info! With almost all mineral content, the pots can get really heavy though! Also, DG is not available here in Bay Area at the big box stores -- what is a good alternative? All purpose gravel? Lava rock? Does this 'mineral soil medium' also hold true for mango plants in containers too? Thanks!

    • @frankyancy1347
      @frankyancy1347 2 года назад

      @@0anant0 just use all purpose sand from Home Depot, and and any porous rock. Yes it's heavy, and why sadly nurseries have gone to cheap sawdust mix for their planting soils., Real peat is o.k. in the mix as its pretty well rotted. Those who do this put the pot on a platform with casters if it is needed to be moved. All I do is avos, so no advice on other plants. Avos have very sensitive roots to rotting organic material. Good luck. I've killed near 10 avos through bad planting...learning the had way. They are surface feeders, so don't plant deep.
