2024 SIRA Rollins Men’s 8+ Place 4th in B Finals
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (April 22, 2024) - The Rollins men's rowing team concluded its 2024 SIRA campaign moving up the board on in the Varsity 8. This was one of the many goals the Rollins men had set for themselves this season. Rollins (Theodore Preaus, William Harris, Cooper Richart, Fredrik Bang-Andreasen, John Patrick McClear, James Cone, Costa Demetriades, Brennan Duntley, Reese Duntley) put together a great race in the second level final finishing fourth in this event and placing 10th out of the 22-boat field, which was two spots better than last year. Rollins posted a 6:09 beating UNC by .9 seconds and 1.8 seconds ahead of Vanderbilt. Rollins was 3.1 seconds off of Mercyhurst and Delawar...

The Rollins Men’s Varsity 4 was in fourth place coming into the last 500m. Embry-Riddle had moved up about a half a boat ahead of the Tars. It looked like the Eagles were going to hold Rollins off but with an incredible push led for a rate jump in the last 12 strokes, Rollins thrusted their bow ahead, claiming the bronze medal 1.17 seconds ahead of Embry-Riddle at a time of 6:55.48.

Newport Aquatic Center medals at 2023 US Rowing Youth Nationals in 5 different races including first place in the Men’s pair and both the Men’s V8 and Women’s V8, the only team in the country to do so. Brennan Duntley, James-Anthony Chavos, Cooper Sitzman, UMBERTO VIDALI and Taryn Graves took gold for NAC in the Men’s Youth 4 B Finals. NAC Men’s and Women’s Youth 8 and 2V 8 boats also all qualified for the Youth National Championship in Sarasota!

Reese Duntley, Sam McCullen, Grant Dougherty, Costa Demetriades and Walter Phaffenberger finished strong with a 6:57.87 for Rollins Freshmen 4 at Dad Vail Regatta in 2023 earning a silver medal out of 26 entries. In the finals, they edged out Bowdoin, Marietta, Colgate and Lafayette. Great Work!!!
