Gary Clark Jr. performed at 20 minute set earlier that same evening at The Cox Capitol Theatre opening for Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. His entire band ended up setting and performing an impromptu 2 hour FREE show at The Hummingbird and hanging all night. Cool guy and THE REAL DEAL!

I’m still in awe of this performance…
Me too… it popped in my head a few hours ago I’m so happy to see it still up here
I get he was a major part of early JM but he's not much a Guitarist. He must be a good writer.
This is better then the originag
Famously now for the Zac Brown Band
Aww man I wish the guy on the right would scoot over just a tad! Im trying to chart out the chords to this tune
Sounds great! Got here through Lauretta :-)
well that just kicked my ass...cant believe anyone would say anything negative about the vocals...they must be pretty good singers to have the balls to put down clays singing...
Clay Cook is one of the secrets to Zac Browns success> Great job
Forgot that Clay wrote this one with John too, great song!
you heard john really play? he's fucking good as hell lol
1:03
I was actually there for this show. He is amazing!
Lucky
By the way, Clay is an amazing guitarist!
i always thought, listening to the songs on itunes, no offense to zac who is awesome, i felt like he was kinda holding clay back, until i saw them live, clay was easily as much as a star as zac was!
this man is AMAZING. wrote songs and performed them with john mayer and now he ROCKS it with Zac Brown, he is soooo extremely talented!!
nah, you need new ears friend.
Thought it was just me and my friends - Dude is incredible on guitar, but I can't stand his awful voice. Don't care what anyone says, his vibrato is obnoxious and his high notes are incredibly forced. He tries really hard though, I'll give him that. When he was got the last chorus on ZBB's new album I was pissed Zac let that happen, puts a damper on the album finale.
i like it
interesting- i love this guy
He does this with the Zac Brown band on the live album Pass the Jar
Awesome, we saw him at the Cox that night and he just smokes. Good to see him get the recognition that he deserves. I didn't realize that he left the Cox and went to 'bird. Cool stuff. From the Hummingbird to the Whitehouse.
ATL is gonna miss you man! Nashville has no idea!
@DonnaFirsty John and Clay wrote several songs together. Clay didn't get all of the recognition he should have on a few of them though.
He is SO talented, guh.
Totally gave me goosebumps! Nicely done clay!
That's my man.
@FreaquedeMusique have you ever heard clay really play? the mans good as hell
1:28 to 1:30 makes me laugh every time. Hes so good though.
@jmforlife83 yeah cos now clay is free to rip with one of the best fuckin bands goin, the zac brown band!
so awesome. I'm just curious of the chords he uses. someone should tab the chords out.
Excellent!!
The "black" belt was not-so-great...otherwise great.
Best thing john ever did was dump this guy
Best thing Clay ever did was dump John. Mayor’s acoustic solo version of this song sucks. He looks like an ass, playing it in his show off fuckboi style. When I hear Clay play this song by himself, I can’t help but think this was how it was meant to be played.
@too10quick They made the demo at Berklee. They wrote the ones not on the demo in Atlanta. They actually do talk now and Clay's been part of the Zac Brown Band for 2 years.
@zoelynnkendrick mayer and cook were in a band called "lo fi masters" they split bc mayer wanted to go more pop and cook didn't. They don't speak now. They wrote most of these songs on campus at Berkley or in Atlanta at Eddies Attic. Cook just got added to Zac Brown band.
awesome talent.... what a voice...
awesome
