We Welcome you to this live session where we will be revisiting the concept of the "basic structure doctrine" of the Indian Constitution.
The doctrine was propounded by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India on 23rd April 1973 in the landmark case of Kesavananda Bharati v. State of Kerela. The court held that the amending power of the Constitution cannot be exercised in a manner that destroys or weakens its basic or fundamental features.
