I remember driving to Vintage Vinyl in NJ and going thru the new cd section and seeing When the Kite String Pops album cover of John Wayne Gacys painting way over 20 years ago I popped that CD in and didn't leave the parking lot till it was done. Holy crap what a band. Thanks for this!

Shawn Whitaker Texas death metal, legend. This guy is super cool and down to earth I met him in Houston at a show. In my opinion he should have been the headliner. I don't even remember who else was playing there that night, fuck 'em.

I seen Soilent live.. might have been the tour for Confrontation. In a small shitty club in Omaha Nebraska. Maybe 50 people there and they fucking killed it. Still one of my favorite shows to this day

Shawn Lane was not just about fast playing, he had total control of guitar including great string bends, whammy bar, vibrato and overall phrasing. Some people claim that anyone can achieve great technique given enough time to practice. That is false. Only the most gifted ones can achieve the virtuoso level of Shawn Lane and Allan Holdsworth. I practiced like crazy for a long time and could not achieve even Yngwie’s speed.
