    For what it's worth, these smokeless fire pits with secondary combustion are only smokeless when the interior walls are heated. If you watch your video closely with the wood, you will see that the majority of the smoke is coming from the area that's furthest away from where the wood fell over.

    Great review of a great fire pit. We had this model shipped to the UK last year, and we love it. I would love to see you review other makes such as TIKI Brand Rectangular Smokeless Fire Pit, Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0 or it’s bigger brother, EAST OAK Fire Pit Smokeless, Firow Smokeless Fire Pit and Cuisinart Cleanburn Smokeless fire pit. Yep seems as if this market place is finally alive with choice. Thanks again for all your reviews, they are well presented and informative. 👍🏽

    Hey there, nice review, so I own a Solo Stove Ranger, Hotshot 15” East Oak 17” and just bought an Outvue 15” pit. The Hotshot is terrible, hard to start, flames suck, and lots of smoke, just doesn’t draft very well at all and doesn’t have the cool secondary burn because the whole top is open instead of having a bunch of little holes. The Solo Stove Ranger is easy to start, burns pretty good and smokes very little. The East Oak 17” is the easiest to start, very good draft, burns like a jet engine, but does smoke more than the Ranger. My newest pit the Outvue 15” is somewhere in between the Ranger and the East Oak. The Outvue 15” starts extremely easy, burns better than the Ranger, but not quite as ridiculous as the East Oak. The Outvue smokes about the same as the Ranger. The Outvue 15” is my new favorite out of these and I got it off Amazon for $44.99

    I do like the idea of "preheating" the stove body by building a small fire first to get the unit primed for secondary burning before adding larger pieces.

  • @anthonycolbourne4206
    @anthonycolbourne4206 10 месяцев назад

    Really surprised by the performance from this shape. I thought the "corners" would impact the fire in a bad way, uneven burn and more smoke generated, but that's not the case at all. There must be some fine tuning in the engineering here to make it work as well as it does.Thanks for the clear unbiased reviews!

    I don’t care what the instructions say, you should not try starting a fire with full logs like that. That is why it kept smoking for so long. You need to build up from small kindling, then slightly bigger chunks before the big stuff goes in. That way the fire is established and the big logs will catch easily then. But thanks for the video, I may have a look at your channel to see what other products you have reviewed.

    • @CampfireBoss

      I recommend combo wood pellets and wood. It was recommended by Blue Sky customer support when I contacted them on the best way to feed this fire pit. Place a good layer of pellets and insert wool wax fire starters in it around the edge near to the walls. Load in your fire wood leaving room to light the fire starters. This approach gets the walls heated faster and the fire pit up and running faster with less smoke. You’ll also get greater heat radiating around the sides of the pit, warming even more people around it.

    So glad someone finally did a review of this fire pit, and did a great job on the review! We love our Square Mammoth, the table top accessory is invaluable as we do a lot of entertaining before we light the fire pit and the table works great for food and cocktails. Agree with everything you said about the "smokeless" aspects. I would also note because of the size and way it burns wood, it goes through a lot of logs - I could burn 15ish logs in a couple of hours. Finally, we have the domed spark screen, it it works flawlessly, with absolutely no warping. Thanks again for a great review!

      Thank you so much for the kind words, it really means a lot! This is one of my favorite pits for sure, along with the Square Peak, which is just this but smaller. And good to keep in mind that it burns so hot that there is little smoke, but that that ALSO means it goes through fuel quickly! Thanks for the comment and I need to get one of those dome screens.

      Hello! It does develop some rust after even the first use. I don't think they are intended to stay pristine looking. The Mammoth has been in some rain and has some "patina" forming on the outside. The other Blue Sky pits that haven't been in rain also formed a little after being used.
