Driving in Maynooth
Просмотров 5903 года назад
The following video is an example of driving test routes that are used by driving testers in Maynooth and some tips on how to prepare for doing your driving test in Maynooth.
Which lane would you keep when you want to go straight on in those big round-abouts?
left lane if there is direction arrows on the road comply with them
Thanks a lot ❤
You're welcome 😊
there is a new test route in Naas where you come out in the busy part of town through a footpath and vehicles parked either side fairly blind with pedestrians also up the road just before the bicycle shop. that makes 6 test routes. these are fantastic videos!
Thank You
Thanks for uploading these videos,Brian. Really helpful.
Glad you like them!
Hi, do these routes apply to motorcycles as well as cars? Thank you
yes
Thank you 🎉😊
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you. This is very resourceful 😊
Hi Brenda. You are welcome. Good luck with test Kevin
what is the point of making a tutorial if you're gonna use a shit camera and don't know how to set up your audio equipment properly
11:10 if I was making this left turn in my driving test and people were crossing the road would I stop in the lane I was in or would I move over to the bus lane and stop in the bus lane and allow them to cross. If I stay in lane I was in I block traffic going straight, If I move over I block the bus lane 🤯
Hi David Give way to the pedestrians. Stop in the lane you are in. Kevin
Thank you very much
Hi Brenda You are welcome. Good luck on test Kevin
Very helpful video, thanks much
You're welcome! Good luck with test Kevin
How do we know which test route we will be given on the day? Or will the examiner just give you a random route to follow?
Hi Victoria You do not know in advance which route you will be on. Build up a good local knowledge of the area you are doing the test in. Ensure you follow all correct procedures in relation to position, observation, progress, identification of hazards and reaction to hazards. Be competent at your reverse and turnabout. Best of luck Kevin
@@cartonschoolofmotoring4338 Hi Kevin thank you for getting back to me on this! Much appreciated 😊
Do we have to park reverse or forward facing?
Hi Alina You do not have to reverse park Best Of luck Kevin
Anyone know route from Carlton Hotel?
There is several routes. Get to know the general area or get a driving instructor to enlighten you. Kevin
Hi, if I saw traffic coming from the right and had to stop would I stop before the “ keep clear” sign @14:49 or would I stop after passing the pedestrian crossing
Do Not stop on the keep clear sign. Look at the traffic lights on approach where you stop will depend on the colour of the lights. So develop your anticipation and planning skills Kevin
Hello there, will be taking my test in finglas next month. Just wondering if reverse bay parking or parallel parking is on the test as well? Thanks!
Hi Karolina When out on you test you are not asked to reverse into or drive into a parking space. You are not asked to parallel park. When you return to the test centre you are expected to park your car correctly. If you do not park correctly you will get a fault kevin
tough route
Hi Erwin Lots of practice will make it easy Kevin
@@cartonschoolofmotoring4338 Is it okay to practice driving weekdays. During test hours?
@@erwingagarin Yes you can practice anytime. Do not obstruct driving tests Kevin
This is great, I’ve had so much misfortune with the Naas driving test that I curiously decided to see if anyone’s driven around Naas on RUclips. Thank you so much for your videos
Hi Jamie You are welcome Kevin
brillinat commentary, very helpful, is it mandatory to check relevant blind spots for all lane changes? and if you fail to check a blind spot when changing lanes how is it graded?
Hi Kevin Yes you need to check your blind spot changing lane. EG if you are changing lane to the right look to centre and right mirror and look through your right side window. The best way to describe it is bring your chin to your right shoulder. Best of luck kevin
@@cartonschoolofmotoring4338 thanks for the prompt reponse and great advice much appreciated
I see you don’t indicate for most of the parked cars. What are the rules there? As there are quite a lot on finglas routes, do u indicate for all cars that are edged out ( as in couple tyres) or only when fully on the road? Thanks
Hi Madeline Passing parked vehicles in housing estates mirror checks only. If there is a parked vehicle on your side of the road and you have to stop to allow a vehicle come forward then you you must do mirrors blind spots and signal. In other driving scenarios you must be able to evaluate each situation eg is the vehicle partially or fully blocking the traffic lane, is there a right turn close to the vehicle, is there pedestrians around the vehicle. Best of luck Kevin
@@cartonschoolofmotoring4338 that’s very clearly explained, thanks Kevin
Hi, is there a particular reason why we have to default into the left lane like @6:49, if I didn’t go directly into the left lane would I get a fault or fail
Hi Shane Exit as shown in video Kevin
Any route fr charlestown Thanks
Make yourself familiar with the area around Charlestown and link in wit existing routes Best of luck Kevin
@@cartonschoolofmotoring4338 Thanks
Hello, should i use indicator when leaving the parking space in RSA ?
Hi Kasia Yes Kevin
@@cartonschoolofmotoring4338 Thank you for your reply :)
Hi should you indicate inside the test centre ?i mean as your coming in or out to park should I indicate then or just as your leaving to go left or right ?
Hi Courtney When you are going to enter the car park indicate. When you are going to exit the car park indicate. When you are going to enter or exit your parking space if you have to turn right or left into or out of it indicate. Best of luck kevin
Thank you which is the most popular route in Tallaght
Route 1
are the routes the same for motorcycles too?
Hi Adam Yes they are similar. Best of Luck Kevin
I see a potential danger at @13:04, should we stop in such situations ?
You must consider each situation as it arises and see what the risks are. The truck should give way to traffic on the right
Sir please can you give me few lessons in naas
Hi Muhammad Thanks for your enquiry. I am booked for for several months Kevin
Are you supposed to indicate when overtaking parked cars in an estate
Hi Rob Ckeck you mirrors and ease out a door width from parked cars. If you have to stop to allow a car come forward then you must check mirrors blind spot and signal. best of luck kevin
Is the reverse park at the end included in the test ?
When you return you can drive into a parking space Best of luck Kevin
Thanks for taking the time to do these videos. They are very useful
Hey Daniel I am delighted you are finding the helpful kevin
When coming to a T junction my instructor asks me to come to a complete stop - is it okay to creep out in 1st gear?
Hi Sophie If there is a stop sign or a stop line or both you must stop fully. If you come to a T junction with no sign and no view to the left or right stop. If you have a limited view creep out slowly in gear one. Thanks for watching videos and best of luck Kevin
Hi there kevin 👋 thanks for the videos ..just wondering if their still using these 5 routes or is there more? Thanks
Hi Costel Thanks for taking an interest in the videos. What the videos do is give you a broad outline of what you may be asked to do on the day. If you can do them well you should have a good grasp of what is required. At the present time there is Luas works going on at the hospital this may cause some variation on the routes. Build up a good knowledge of the roads within a 5k radius. Its important to do all the technical things correctly. Be mindful of position, observations, progress, identification of hazards and potential hazards and reacting to what you see. Best of luck kevin
@@cartonschoolofmotoring4338 thank u so much kevin 🙏 ..got my test on the 28th
@@costelminune9202 ai dat?
Hi, @5:04 is it okay to stop and give way even though you have the priority ? Please let me know thanks
Hi Mike If you have priority continue if safe to do so.
Great videos, thank you !!! Can you please tell me is that T junction at 14:35 min in the video considered to be open or blind. I’m trying to figure out if I should go back into first gear for it or if it would be ok to continue it in second gear
Hi Avery If you can do it in a controlled manner 2nd gear is ok. It also depends on your car is your car able to move at a low speed in 2nd gear. Ensure you do the correct observations and there is no hazards at or on the junction Best of luck kevin
What would be the lowest speed for gear 3 in petrol car before the car would start to show signs of struggling
Hi Ollies It depends on the car is it high powered car or low powered car. Its not something i can guess. I would need to drive the car. If you have an instructor for a pretest they will tell you. Best of luck Kevin
9:57 u turn right nd enter in right hand lane...normally we use left hand lane...i m so confused when we can use right hand lane of the road...plz if u can explain...thank u
If you are instructed to turn right and right again it means the junctions are close to each other so in that instance you turn into the right hand lane. You instructor should advise you how to do it correctly
@@cartonschoolofmotoring4338 thank u so much
@@jiagul2760 It's also because of the immediate Bus Lane so Kevin went straight to the right lane.
i have a test on 29th november .your videos have really helped me.in particular with stop signs and where there is no sign a solid line.thank you so much.
Thank you for taking an interest in the videos and your kind comment. kevin
Can you please do the route for the Carlton hotel?
Thank you for taking an interest in the videos. Ido not have time at the moment. Do some pretests and it will help you.
Hi I have a test coming up. Do you have any tips?
That left turn into Clancy Avenue is soo tight and you can’t really see into that road, can you reduce speed and put into 1st gear when making that turn. My car is a diesel so the slowest 2nd gear will go is 15/17km. It’s a bit fast for not knowing what’s around the corner
When doing a pretest your driving instructor should advise you relevant to your car.
I just want to make a bit of a rant about speed signs, here, because I have my test in Finglas in a few days and need to vent on it. Some of the speed signs are ridiculously hard to spot for a learner. Look at the one that's approached at the left turn at the mini roundabout at 9:55. I looked at it on Google Street view. Evidently, whether through act of god or hand of man, the 50 sign has been knocked the wrong way around. There is enough for a learner trying to pass a driving test to worry about than trying to second guess whether the speed sign they're obeying should actually be the other way around. There are a few side roads as you drive up the road which are marked 30, so you may say that actually the road is probably 50, but you may also lose a mark on progress before coming to that realisation. Would a tester take into account the fact that the speed sign at that mini roundabout was the wrong way around and anyone who was even trying to follow the speed limit in the first place could understandably miss it and think they were still on a 30 road? Then there's the one at the 6:00 from the right turn at mini roundabout onto Griffith road. Small speed sign again, behind trees on that approach until the last second. Anyone could miss that if they were concentrating on some hazard immediately on the road in front. The thing saving you there would be the common sense to say that it's a residential area, so it would be 30. There are probably many such signs around Finglas, hiding off to the left, far back from the footpath, and written on the smallest size regulatory sign available. Why can't the limits be written on the road as they change? They already write it on the road in some places, but it's often in the middle of an estate where you already know it's 30. Put it at actual places where the limit changes. Ah damn, I wish I'd taken my test a couple of years earlier, back when you could fairly reliably assume that the speed limit would be a blanket 50, or occasional 60.
Hi Brian Thanks for your comment. I hope the videos help you a little bit. Best of luck on the day kevin
Is there a maximum distance you can be away from the kerb when reversing around the corner?
Hi Caoimhe Half a metre is about correct Kevin
Hi are these the updated routes? Last video was from 6 years ago on another Channel and I have my test on the 14th so I just wanna be sure hahaha! If they are you’re a legend🙌🏼
I just looked at the date on the screen. You are a legend. Bless you😂😂
Hi Roisin Best of luck on the day kevin
I failed Finglas today, this will be a good heads up for take two, thank you.
Thank you very much for these videos. Although I wasn’t taken on the exact routes you posted, your videos overall really helped and got me familiar with the area in the absence of a pre test. I passed today and am over the moon.
Congrats on passing your driving test . i am delighted you found the videos helpful Kevin
Hi, my instructor has told me to indicate when driving past parked cars, I notice you do not do this. I'm just wondering what is best practice and is it a fault of I do indicate ( as some of the housing estates are full of parked cars, so I'm doing a lot of indicating !). Thanks do much..p.s your videos are great
Hi Marie Thanks for taking an interest in my videos. Driving in a housing estate approaching parked vehicles look in centre and right mirror and ease out gradually to come back to your side look in your centre and left mirror and ease back gradually . If you have to stop because of a vehicle approaching in the opposite direction then you need to look in your mirrors check blind spots and signal. if there is gaps between cars dont be going in and out for no reason hold your position out unless a vehicle is approaching from opposite direction. Best of luck kevin
Hi there, are there only four tallaght test routes?
Hi Dan Thanks for your message. I have 5 likely ones recorded. There is more routes. Continue to practise the routes i have on you tube and you should be well prepared. You do need to do some pretests as well. best of luck kevin
I thought it was handbrake and then neutral at a traffic light. But every red light you went handbrake and then 1st gear.
Hi Toma Thank you for taking an interest in my videos. You can do handbrake and neutral if you wish or handbrake and first gear. I advise handbrake and first gear if you are in the first 3 cars in line at the traffic lights. The reason i give that advice is that you will be able to move away promptly and not get faulted for progress at traffic lights. The fact i said it each time at the traffic lights should make you realise that it is an acceptable way to do it. Best of luck on your driving test Regards kevin
I have a driving test on August 11th at Finglas. Your videos help me a lot. Thank you very much!
Hi iulia Thank you. Good luck on your test Kevin
Thank u Kevin! Please God!😊
What route will be at 1pm on friday do you have an idea ?
