Unfortunately, thats the human race. It aint fair. Keep your head up. The real ones will appreciate you. The others are not worth it.
Roundnet needs more people involved in NGB's
Do you put the video chapters in manually or do you use an AI program?
Also: Roundnet needs "High School teams"
Level of detail varies by video, but I just listened back and make chapter notes as I listen through
Roundnet needs PEOPLE! I wanna say bodies but that feels weird 😂
So many more people need to understand and listen to this!
Defense
Roundnet needs exciting gameplay and local community growth. Do I get a cookie now?
A currently bigger RUclipsr has told me cookies are for subscribers 🍪
@ well I should’ve been given a cookie a long time ago smh
Great conversation
What a dig and finish to end it
It's actually happening 🎉 so excited to see what exactly package 1 will be
I updated the pinned comment - you can read all the details on the IRF website
@@bdantowitz thanks!
Full update on the IRF website: www.roundnetfederation.org/roundnet-rule-revolution
Does NDZ include drops on serves? And do you know if Roundnet Canada signed onto this plan
NDZ details on IRF page appear to apply to serves and hits without exception. Roundnet Canada is also partnering with IRF on rules testing to my knowledge.
You’re awesome Ben! You and your commitment to Roundnet is truly amazing and you are very much appreciated by the Roundnet community!
sunny goat
My glorious King Henry 😍😍
really appreciate all your hard work ben!
Thanks for doing this. It is really needed :)
Taking serve/double fault/holds into account is essential but just doesn’t work with totally new and shitty balls. If the balls were better or people are more used to them there would be more aces and less double faults. And I think that would be great
Of course higher quality equipment would be great. Two things need to be kept in mind: 1. Defense needs to be the primary way to win over serving long term. 2. The sport needs to be grown so that the community can afford high quality things and sustain a business for producing them.
You’re welcome 😊
great stuff Ben!
Does Ryan just forget the rules at 10:02 😂
mike was outside 7 feet so it’s clean no?
@@peytonstack24oh is that a stipulation as part of this ruleset?
@@Conn205 yessir! ERS rule said “if the player striking the ball has at least one point of contact outside the serving circle, the ball may land inside the circle”
Great data! The rally/hold ratio for STS is 27.4% while CC is 32.0%. Does that feels like this ruleset doesn't actually help defence enough? People weren't familiar with the bigger ball enough and decided to put on more second serve which lead to the data?
I'm curious: what does a rally/hold ratio tell you? I see more value in reviewing the rally/ace ratio; that should tell us if teams can win by playing defense more, less, or the same amount as serving (we of course want teams to win more through defense). For this dataset, we could get a rally to ace (or no return) ratio of: Baseline: 54.5% Experiment: 122.5% And I agree, a lot of people had to adjust to the bigger ball - what I would like to do is continue analyzing games from earlier in the day to see how players adjust over time and how much these distributions changed during the day.
In my opinion, if rally/hold ratio doesn't increase. People eventually will go for higher risk service to at least create bad touches. Then rally to ace ratio will increase again. What I expect from an ideal dataset would be a higher rally/hold ratio which people adjust their strategy to rely more on defence. And it should be rather high in the beginning because I think offense will improve faster than defence. That's why I think we could maybe try a more aggressive ruleset for this. (Just like NHZ first introduced. I don;t have the data, but defence should increase from nearly impossible to possible before it become what we have rught now) rally/hold to me is what actually change the structure of the game toward more defence. I think 2 reasons create high rally/ace ratio from CC are: (1) Not familiar with the ball, so people rather put it on than go for strong serve. (2) People come in the tournament with mindset of this rule will help defence and decide to rely on more on defence. However, if people findout this rule isn't actually easier for defence. Next time the rally/ace ratio may decrease a lot, imo.
🍋
This really gives me hope! Showed the game to a bunch of ppl during the world championships, all loved parkplay but most were super disappointed when watching the stream. The stream production was awesome! But serveball is holding the sport back so hard imo
We'll have to keep experimenting ideas so the pros get to have as much fun as you and your friends do at the park.
why does gabe play the hit at 10:06
If you'd have seen how many legal drops people watched fall in front of them, this choice makes a lot more sense - it's similar to how folks play through any other close call. For this type of footwork call, the defender just watching the ball makes sense.
If this game had an out-of-bounds line this would of been such a good rally ball game.
We want the og spikeball back
Would love to hear more elaboration about what OG gameplay you want back - any specific player or play style?
@@bdantowitz this bigger ball and these new rules isn’t going to make this sport evolve in anyway shape or form. There’s a reason someone like myself and many others love this sport we love seeing the intricate hits, serves, let alone the insane reverses on the og ball. This ball is going to ruin everything for this sport I genuinely believe that. The only good thing coming out of this is new players will now be able to compete and get into this sport a lot easier but other than that at the highest level for people that have been playing for years this will just be a downfall for us. Even the whole part of us practicing hours on hours silently trying to learn how to cut and reverse the ball, that’s not exiting because serving really isn’t a big aspect of this game anymore
@@GETOFMYLEVEL completely disagree as of right now roundnet is a tiny tiny sport and is extremely boring to watch for anyone who isn’t obsessed with the sport already. the only people who keep up with pro roundnet are the same ones who are grinding and understand the difficulty of the mechanics being displayed in a pro match however someone who’s brand new to the sport watching roundnet at its current state will have no clue and won’t appreciate whatever talent like you think they will. sports like soccer, tennis, basketball, football etc. have so much inherent athletic ability that someone watching for the first time can see and appreciate what it takes to compete at a pro level while someone watching a roundnet game for the first time could not possibly care or understand how much skill goes into a cut or reverse no touch. i’m not disagreeing that those mechanics aren’t cool or challenging but they are not what bring new people to the sport if you wanna keep the rules the same and compete to be the best at a sport no one cares about than go for it but the only way roundnet is ever gonna get some recognition is if rules change and pro roundnet starts getting more rallies and becomes actually enjoyable to watch for an average or new player.
Thanks Ben. Good stuff
Thank you Ben for your work I don't think the sport would be where it is at without you Love your videos, love your work You are quite selfless in your work
🥺 This is a really kind sentiment. I want to do my part and hope that talking more about my effort can inspire others to take action too.
I needed to make this video so that I can make more authentic, better future videos, so thanks for watching this one and hopefully you enjoyed it nonetheless.
Sunny so handsome in the thumbnail
What camera do you utilize? Is it the same for roundnetwork?
These matches were filmed by players phones. For the most part it is on an iPhone camera. Roundnetwork will sometimes use a combination of iPhones and professional cameras to cover a match.
Wow we see ben commentating but never playing Good to see you playing
Is this with new ball and rules?
Kind of, but this was more experimental in nature. 1. 2025 US baseline rules voted on by USAR members. 2. Experimental Spikeball rally ball 3. Additional experimental rules specific to this tournament detailed here ruclips.net/video/NFb2W2QXE80/видео.html
@bdantowitz thanks
Important as always!
good video as usual
I just try to improve from the ones we had discussed weren't as good as usual ;)
How do you charge the phone, when the mic (the receiver) is connected to it?
That’s the neat part: you don’t! In past streams, best case scenario for me would be to charge one phone and use it as a scoreboard remote while the phone that was streaming could connect to the microphones. I also had to make sure I focused on charging to time my battery to make it through the last match of the day
@ so you disconnect the mic between games to recharge the phone as much as possible?
Yes, and I also turn off the stream and go live with a different phone if I’m able to borrow a second one.
This was great!

Max capacity coach's clinic? People who care about the growth of the sport? Germany will dominate roundnet in 2-3 years
"People who care about the growth of the sport" and take action on that passion... Germany is already dominating roundnet in my view. The rest of the world needs to start caring and taking action.
