Thank you John, very very interesting because I lived in York until I was nineteen and never had the time to see Knaresborough because I was a full time graphic design student at the York school of Art and a year later emigrated to Australia. However many years later I did visit Knaresborough but never had the time to see as much as you have shown us. I'd heard a little bit about Mother Shipton but had no idea about the things you've mentioned, so your high quality video has been a great insight.

Malton has much improve since & because of the building of the bypass in the 90's. Before which it was a severe traffic bottleneck on the road between York & the coast, especially because of the road layout at the Derwent Bridge with the railway line. It was a place all those in the know, the locals like us from Scarborough & Pickering, avoided like the plague. We used to take a diversion via Castle Howard & Old Malton to pass Malton rapidly, while others could be trapped there for 2 hours & more in the summer months. In those days, I'm thinking of the 70's-80's, it was a quite un down miserable place, only relieved by having 2 market days per week, both Saturday & Monday, which meant the pubs were open all day.

I never knew there was a labor connection with May Day. At school, we had a May Pole and got to dance around it. Only see May Pole dancing at the renaissance fairs now. It was a fun celebration of Spring. Thanks for a lovely stroll, John🙂

Hi John, this is Dan. Sorry if you think I was being disrespectful in my comments. I was just trying to be helpful where I think you spoke a little wrong. I dislike mistaken information being spread about, & tend to want to correct things. I liked your content & the video is good, with just those few caveats that I have commented upon.
