Jon Boat Aluminum Polishing
I spend some time polishing the sides of the jon boat to create a mirror finish. I had to sand the sides first with two grits of sandpaper and then use the Renegate Aluminum Polishing Starter Kit to finish the job and create the mirror finish.

Can You Raise Chickens Meant for the Processor?
Просмотров 1902 месяца назад
My son's class hatched eggs and we took home the chicks to raise. These eggs were donated from a large chicken meat supplier that were intended for the meat processing plant. We have been raising them for about 5 months now and we wanted to share the experience.
Jon Boat Transom Replacement and Repair
Просмотров 1443 месяца назад
My first major repair/replacement to the v-hull jon boat is replacing the transom. I opened up a bit of a can of worms on this one when I found the extensive quantity of holes in the back aluminum. I was able to find a way to fill in the holes and remake the wood transom. I need several products to make this happen and below is a list of the products used: JB Weld Epoxy: a.co/d/b4pZvN8 GOOP Coa...

Cheap and easy repair to my existing jon boat handles. I couldn't find replacements online that matched the hole patterns so I decided to just repair these. I was able to fill in the rust damage with JB Weld Waterweld. I think they turned out great!!
Paint Removal on a Jon Boat | Paint Stripper, Sand Paper, Stainless Wire Wheel

the first step in my project is to remove the paint and expose any structural issues with the boat. The old paint was flaking off so this gives me a fresh start from which to apply the new paint.

This jon boat came with the trailer for only $300. It needs quite a bit of work to get it in the water. I'll be working on this in a series of videos that I plan to post on a regular basis. I look forward to any help and tips you have in the comments!

Free Chicken Feed Success | Black Soldier Fly Larvae
Просмотров 2656 месяцев назад
Turns out I just needed to wait longer! I didn't get a chance to add cardboard for the flies to land on and lay eggs. I just waited a bit longer for the compost to get broken down a little more. Looks like they like the older compost versus the "fresh" compost. For now, I'm getting about a handful of larvae a week. Nothing to replace my feed costs completely but at least it'll reduce it. Free Chicken Food? BSF Larvae Harvesting

I need to find a way to supplement the chicken feed for my backyard chickens so I don't have to buy so much feed. I was able to buy one tote and use other supplies that I had around the house. This is a quick and easy method for harvesting Black Soldier Fly Larvae. Even it didn't work out quite as well as I wanted this time around, we are still experimenting! Looks like a good job to me Nice work
Thanks! Still a work in progress.
I would use that old panel and pull the guts out. Use it as a j-box above the actual panel. That's where you would be able to branch the circuit
What length shaft is that?
30" shaft on the trolling motor
How are the valves holding up?
They are doing just ok. One is going strong but the other one I had to replace the computer of it. I think water must have got into it. If you had these valves sheltered somehow, they would probably last longer.

That wood is nicely sealed!
@@TotalBoat thanks! It is coming along nicely. Using the epoxy to seal some other wood parts of this project in the future.

How has the paint held up over the last 2 years?
@letgo22hrs it has held up very well! I haven't had to redo any sections of it. I did have some small peeling spots on the plastic moulding around the door. I just touched up that area
Great video, i was happy to see you addding the usb outlets also but your framing looks like 2x3 or even 2x4, my camper is all 2x2 framing :( not sure if i have any options
The previous owner of this camper framed it with 2x4s, so I stuck with it. Maybe you could thicken an interior wall to have enough room for the USB outlets.
Great video, super idea. Thanks so much for sharing. I have been looking the last couple of days for a old mower myself to do the same thing.
good luck in your search for a mower and project!
That stuff looks fun to work with. Man that is going to be so good!
Thank you for watching. Still getting the hang of using epoxy resin.
Much too expensive seriously
I hear ya! It did a decent job but a bit expensive for sure. Maybe you can find some on FB Marketplace?
OK thanks
That's a pretty cool feeder, nice job. Thanks for sharing and hope you have a blessed week ahead my friend.
Thank you for watching! I appreciate it.
Hi where did u get front and rear rims
The rims came with the chassis as a whole so I didn't have to source them.
Great job! We would definitely recommend the medium or slow hardener in the future to give you more work time to properly spread the mixture out!
Thank you for watching! It was a learning experience for me for sure. The product looks great and I'm hoping for years of use!
I learned a lot. I M going to use 1/8 inch plywood on each side. Of the frame.
Did you ever make the video explaining the wiring of the box? Also where do you ground to? The chassis?
I don't think I made a video of the box itself. I did ground it all to the chassis. The camper had a large aluminum wire that is attached to the frame under the camper and it comes up into the walls to the box.
30inches long is completely off homie I have the same boat 😅 more like 30+
Definitely considering this blower for my place at the start of next spring, my gas blower is super heavy and old. That’s why I’m considering this lightweight but powerful v20 blower then
We still use it and it has worked out great!
Good day, is this a Vega camper, looks like my 79 a bit
This is a '72 Midas Volunteer camper. Not much original left though!
Where did you order the siding from? I’ve been looking all over I’m in the middle of doing the same thing
I believe it was Hemet Valley out of California. I believe I had a link in a comment.
Did your doggie get too close to the feed hopper???
jon boats are flat bottoms, this is a v hull, but good video otherwise.
Thanks. I really consider anything of this aluminum small boat style a "jon boat" I understand this is a V hull though
Why didn't you just put it on right side up
@@garysmith7832 I like having the canoe upside down when traveling. I think it is more secure that way
Right
I dozed off after 5 minutes. Horrible video!
@@cheflorenzo4491 thanks for watching! I have other videos if you need help sleeping as well.
Keep extra belts and idlers pulleys just in case 😊😊😊
Faster than i can walk. Great job. Building this tomorrow
@@WillieMakeit good luck with your project!
Awesome video, thanks for putting this out there
@@brendanfouts5144 glad I could help. Thank you for watching!
Thanks For The Video Some People are appreciative!
No problem! Thank you for watching!
Nice work men, Do I need to register a canoe with a motor like that?
It depends on your state. In GA, I should but don't use this all that often so I haven't registered the canoe.
Is it possible to just cut warped areas out and use patch peices?
you can but you may run into other challenges. The overlap would need to be sealed real good. I could see a scenario when traveling in heavy rain could push water into the seam and the interior of the wall.
you didnt show attaching the tensioner spring. very crucial part...
What are the Pro's Con's of motor side mount vs directly behind stern on canoe?
since my canoe comes to a point in the back, I had to go with a side mount. Placing it off the point somehow would have put it too far back and not easily reached. Off the side works out great.
Much appreciated, I’ve searched high and low, trying to figure out which herbicide to use on my pecan trees. This was the most informative video yet. Liked and subscribed.
Glad I could help out! Thank you for watching
Thanks man , worked out well . Love the no drill design.
Bought a old aluminum 17 ft canoe sore shoulder after paddling 6 hrs easily just tired of paddling I got a nice electric motor for 4’hrs or More at a good speed compare to me paddling
Go to one destination to another and last time half the hour so instead of 45 minutes to get there it’s like half that without paddling always speed electric motor
Great job Sir
Thank you for watching!
Awesome. You can sure score some good deals on Marketplace. A lot of work but it will be a fun project and you can make it yours!
What kind of plastic panels are you using? where did you get them?
They are 4x8 sheets of FRP panel. I was able to source them from Lowe's and Home Depot. It's a 1/16" panel I believe.
Any tips on how to build a door from nothing?? I drug an old camper home and it has no door. Very minimum water damage, I really wanna make a door for it somehow.
That may be a larger project. I think first you want to source the exterior and interior sheeting material. Some kind of sheet metal or plastic could work. The hardest part is likely going to be trim and hinges. The hinges on mine were not something standard from a hardware store.
Great project. I’ve been looking for a project boat too. Can’t wait to see the progress.
Thanks man! Good luck in your search. I'll definitely be learning on this one. Looking forward to getting it finished and having adventures on the water.
Going to be some great memories in that boat!!
That's the plan! Looking forward to getting it completed and on the water. Wife is looking forward to not having it in the driveway!
Taking it out, drill new hole that lines up with the nut better.
Saving to make something new out of something just something around
Good job mate. Keep it up.
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Just a small suggestion: why not use carriage bolts instead of hex head and install them upward from the clamp through the transom thwart, thereby allowing you to just screw the spinner nuts on from the top, saving fumbling around under the assembly. Just my lazy man's approach.
Love how the grain matches! Good job! :)
