Things got hot!
Steve took me to John Edgar's place a few months back to shoot the Milky Way.** Since it was the middle of the night, I didn’t realize how large this prairie truly was. This time, Mr. Edgar was out burning more shrubs to expand the prairie, and he took us to see some fascinating trees along the way. Even though we didn’t leave with a wall hanger, it was still a beautiful morning. Steve Ward worked on his focus stacking, and I also captured a few focus-stacked images and a panoramic shot. Let us know what you think of our images in the comments below!

We headed out to a friend's farm early in the morning, hoping to capture the perfect fog rolling over the river. But, as it turns out, the fog had other plans and didn't show up! Steve always says, "Take what's given to you," so we switched gears. After setting up a pretty uneventful time-lapse, we decided to focus on some old buildings on the property. There was an amazing old log cabin and ba...
Fly-fishing the Roubidoux for Ozark Smallmouth
Просмотров 53Месяц назад
This video isn't about photography, but rather another passion of mine: fly fishing! Normally, I'm out chasing trout, but today I switched it up to target Ozark smallmouth bass. It was a slow evening on the water, but the effort paid off with a 14-inch smallmouth-what a fight on a fly rod! To make it even more exciting, I tie all of my own flies, so each catch feels that much more rewarding. Ch...
One Year of Photography Adventures with Steve | Patty Creek Wilderness Area

It’s almost been a year since Steve and I began shooting images together, and it all started right here in the Patty Creek Wilderness Area, Texas County! Teaching others about the joys of photography has always been my passion, and Steve has made incredible progress since then. I used to spend a lot of time solo in the woods, but with age and wisdom, I’ve learned it’s always better to have some...

Summer landscapes can be challenging, so Steve and I are looking forward to the fall colors here in the Ozarks. In the meantime, we discovered a spot near Plato, Missouri, using PhotoPills. Despite an overcast start, the skies cleared up later that evening, allowing us to capture stunning Milky Way photos at the Slabtown Bridge over the Piney River. In this video, you’ll learn some tricks we us...
Better edit for Milky Way photos.

I enjoy capturing the Milky Way as a landscape, combining adjustable lighting for the foreground to enhance the scene. In this video, I demonstrate my post-processing workflow using Lightroom and Photoshop to seamlessly blend these two images together.
It's the best I could come up with.

Our RUclips Travel Channel: www.youtube.com/@foto-podadventures4473 My wife and I enjoy traveling, and our latest adventure took us on a beautiful journey through Colorado. As a photographer, I usually prefer the golden hours of sunrise and sunset, but on this trip, we had to make do with the timing we had. This resulted in a more journalistic style of photography, capturing moments as they hap...
Planning for good light

This is a very popular park in Colorado Springs, and it's totally free. My wife and I went on a Sunday afternoon, and it was full of people, and the lighting was not very good. So we decided to get up early on Monday and get there for sunrise, and it paid off. I've heard it said, "Find good light and then find a subject that falls in that light," and it worked out for us. We got some spectacula...
**Exploring the East Side of Colorado**

Mr. Steve Ward wasn't with me on this trip as my wife and I ventured out to Colorado. Normally, you would think of Colorado as being full of beautiful mountain scapes, but we stopped on the east side of Colorado in the open plains. I almost didn't go out for this shoot because it looked like it was overcast, but the sun did breakthrough for a few brief moments and I captured some nice images. I...

Sometimes, you arrive at a location ready to capture stunning photos, only to find things don't go as planned. In this video, we set out expecting the moon and foreground to be perfectly illuminated together, but it didn't turn out that way. Despite the challenges, we learned a lot, which is always valuable. Next time, we'll have more opportunities to align the moonset perfectly and capture the...

The old saying "the show must go on" is true. While I'm not taking over Mike's RUclips channel, he unfortunately sustained an injury, so I stepped in to create this video for him. I hope the images I captured honor those commemorated on this wall. Despite the rainy conditions, I believe I managed to take some beautiful shots. What do you think?

Very cool - I like the different approaches in photography, not landscape or astrophotography
@@timhall1364 thank you it was kind of a different look for us
Cool
@@timhall1364 thanks
Outstanding - I like the lecture and the step-by-step setup and photos. The reflection is great.
@@timhall1364 thanks enjoy making these videos
Love the shot guys! Be careful out there though, MODNR has been cracking down hard on astrophotographers without permits. My small group has the proper permits, but they still harass us. Just a heads up!
@@deimosastro could you send me more information about Missouri DNR cracking down on Astro photographers. Never heard of a permit.
@@moozarksphotos458 I'll have to go back through my groups thread on that to find where we got the permit form so I'll let you know
@@moozarksphotos458 Here we go. mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/activities/photography We might be having such a problem since our dark sky sites are so close to St. Louis. Our big confrontation was in December. It's not been so bad since the spring. The site does say "commercial photography", DNR, and the FEDs for that matter, consider any photo put on RUclips as commercial, regardless of whether you actually get any money from it. Until the laws are fixed, it's better to be safe than sorry. I know they are trying to fix the wording of the law to protect individual photographers at the federal level. The propose of the law was to protect against big productions, but as usual, it hurts the normal people instead.
Outstanding! Looking forward to more shared adventures. Fall colors ahead!
@@mikemorgan7009 thanks I enjoy doing these. Got a new set of microphone that will improve the sound quality.
Don’t give away any of my secret fishin spots, got ‘em all over Missouri 😂 😂😂
Thanks for bringing us along! That shot at 8:34 with the road and the Milky Way lined up is top notch!
@@AlaskaBrian thanks for your comments.
The black and white is beautiful. I also like the one with the river and the tree laying across it. Did you try a portrait composition on that one?
@@kayleenflores5450 thanks for your comment. No, I should’ve tried a portrait composition.
Hey, buddy! Hope you’re doing well. Some nice shots there. Did you guys take an exposure for the foreground and the background? Or did you just capture everything in one shot? Sometimes, if I can get away with it, I have better luck taking a longer shutter, low ISO exposure of the foreground, and then a longer/high ISO shot of the Milky Way, then blending them together in Photoshop.
@@ScottymanPhoto I’m doing well as we speak. We’re traveling in Michigan. These shots were done in one exposure, but I like your idea of the double exposure and then blend them later. Thanks for that advice.
@@moozarksphotos458 They look pretty good, especially for a single exposure. I worked a few single exposures last week and the results were lackluster at best. Take care, buddy!
I must admit, I'm not much of a photographer. I mostly follow you to see bits of my Missouri homeland! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@chanks9315 thanks you might like our travel channel better. “Foto pod Adventures”
Besides the obvious quality of your Milky Way photos, the enthusiasm you guys have toward using your imagination (like with the truck light trails) shows how much you enjoy what you are doing, even in a dark, bug infested environment,. Nice work!

The black and white is my favorite. They are all wonderful.

Hard to choose favs. Second photo of rocks in Eastern CO; I’m fascinated with the lower whiteish formation that looks like a petrified horse head/neck. The B&W picture in Garden of the Gods definitely caught my eye because of your lack of color choice! The Glenwood Canyon waterway with the colorful flowers is mesmerizing! That scraggly/shedding moose made the funniest shot with his pose. You are definitely gifted by the best!!
Thank you for all your comments
The Canyon with the Magenta flowers, but not a fan of manipulated images. Perhaps Animals would be worthy of more pix. Ansel like the Twilight Zone and the Fat guy who did B&W. Colors have warmth. Hi Piper! Imagine how those Meese or Mooses, would do to your plants in Waynesville. Why are Goose Bumps not called Geese Bumps - more than one?
@@rogerwhite7829 thanks, Roger your critique always puts a smile on my face
Good wrap-up photographically of an obviously enjoyable trip away from the Ozarks.
@@mikemorgan7009 it was an enjoyable getaway
They're all wonderful. Garden of the God's is definitely less crowded early. That scene from your pull off is really awesome.
@@benneterbaugh3652 thanks so much
Excellent images. I'm fortunate enough to live in COS, and that is one of my favorite places. Come back in February when the big horn sheep are walking around. That never fails to blow me away.
@@benneterbaugh3652 sounds like a plan
Love the (1) B&W Garden of the Gods, The Color one is great too. Water is good - love the long exposure. Great ELk shot - the tongue is funny too. Was it smoke or fog in the valley? (2) Moose is great too.

Nice location, nice photos, nice video. Well done!
Thanks I took your advice and added the photos into the video and added my favorites to the end.
Perfect!!
Very cool place. Thanks for sharing. The last photo was the best, I thought.
Thank you, Tim the last one was my favorite also.
A great storm, very dramatic
Thanks Tim
Nice photos of the rock formations ...unusual clouds too. Enjoy your travel and keep the photos coming!
Thank you, Mr. Morgan
Thanks for sharing - That's great information and explanation of what you are doing, are you using a remote trigger, That was a good final shot.
Outstanding! Well balanced between video and stills. Just the right amount of tech talk. Mary Ann was a perfect assistant to you Steve. In that regard, I like the last photo in the video the best , with her red jacket. I've never done this sort of photography and I learned from your video there is a lot of advance recon and prep plus on-the fly adjustments that make it harder than most (like me) might think...much less being in an open field with cattle about in the dark.
Thank you. I took your previous post to heart and worked to include more stills throughout. This type of photography is fun, but I find that I can spend more than two hours in the field and come away with only 3 or 4 useful frames. Hopefully future videos will be even better.
Believe me when I say that as you guys get older you will find the subject matter/location and time of day photos are taken becomes less important to your photo habits. I have found as I've aged that I now get the same level of photo enjoyment taking close-up photos of flowers in my garden as I once did with compositions of epic landscapes, glaciers and wildlife in Alaska. I also now find joy in casual photography midday, stopping on the way to and from appointments or shopping often results in a lot of keepers. Before ending my comments, I want to say I am a still photographer, not a videographer, so I have no interest in making You Tube presentations. But, I do watch them all the time. In that regard, I think your videos would be better received if you would include photos taken of scenes during the video description, rather then at the end. As you are now doing Steve, I once spent time in my younger days with Mike, out and about with our cameras, so I stuck around to the end of your video because of that. However, were I a stranger just looking at what Ozark photography is all about, I probably would have stopped watching well before getting to the end. Obviously others may disagree, but for me having less technical talk, less standing around, and most important more photos during the video seems a good way to attract more viewers. Meanwhile, I envy your motivation getting up at 0430 and on the road with hot coffee to foggy Ozark locations I know fairly well, having been raised as a young boy in that environment (Neosho). Cheers!.
Wow, that is some of the best critique I’ve ever received. Thank you Mike. We will start putting photos in the area of the video. Where were shooting them. Please don’t ever hesitate to give us advice on the videos. It’s funny you say the enjoyment of the photography. We are traveling around the state of Colorado and just stopping when we see stuff doesn’t matter what time of day the journalist approach.
Thank you for the suggestion. I am going to attempt to create a video this weekend. I'm not sure I have the proper number of photos to cover my tech talk on Milky Way shooting (I shot it all last night), but I will do what I can moving forward.
This was very educational - I would like to see more of these. I like the techniques too. A teachable moment is always great. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Tim will try to explain things better as we’re doing them and add the photos right at the point where were videotaping.
Love that drone footage! You did cut off the end 😂 Good to hear from you. Take care, buddy!
Thanks, man I do like doing the drone photography, but it scares me to death to fly. Yeah you’re the second person told me and I already got rid of my edit so I can’t read the video unless I do the whole thing. The whole video did not load.
@@moozarksphotos458 Well, just upload part 2 😃

Thanks Tim will check it out
Revisit error 2 and 3. You made the same mistake on 3 that was caught for #2. 😂
Just a demonstration of how slow of a learner I am :) Thanks for watching to the end.
Steve did a great job. Feel better soon.
My back is almost normal. We went out last night and did some full moon photos video will be coming soon. Tim not sure where you live, but would be great if you could join us one time.
Thank you.
Hurt back is not fun. Heal quickly Mike! Oh yeah, watch out for Steve, he may start his own channel and poach potential subscribers from you. Good job on the video Steve.
The rookies doing good and just like the army motto I have a photo battle buddy. My back is almost back to normal. We leave for Colorado for three weeks. The first part of June no agenda.
Thank you. No worries about me being a poacher.
Gorgeous work!!
Thank you very much, been doing the photo thing for many years it’s fun teaching new people how to capture different subject.
Yeah, it sure does make it harder!
NICE! Looks like you guys came away with several great images. That's an excellent location! Thanks for sharing, buddy!

The video was great - captured the yellow flowers better the the photos - and the color looked washed out. I did like the composition.

Looks like we’re gonna be doing a long trip to the state of Colorado
Nice shared experience and photos. Was partly cloudy where I was. Nothing like you all saw.
Thank you Sir, it was fun.
It was amazing - we went to Fort de Chartres State Historic Site. We thought that the 2017 was better.
We did 2017 but had the opposite effect I didn't get very good pictures and the spot I picked wasn't very good this time. I got better images and got to experience it even better. Tim thank you for always taking the time to comment.
I visited here numerous times, one time there were so many snakes I was uncomfortable getting out of my car! What a cool spot
It sure is.
Nice video. For me it was your best one ever. Lots of photos, nice music and not a lot of talk about technical details of composition and set-up. It told a nice "photo buddy" story at a special location.
Thanks so much Mike, means a lot coming from you
Amazing
Thank you so much but when I watched it again on TV, my quality is lacking. Got to figure that out.
