Stinger1960
Добавлен 8 дек 2014
Welcome to Stinger 1960. The story behind the name has to do with my yellow and black corvette affectionately known as bumblebee. 1960 refers to the year I was born. I don’t usually post often but what I share are activities of the things I am passionate about. I love Motorsports, specifically cars and motorcycles. I track a 2007 Corvette C6 Z06, and ride a Honda GL1800 touring bike. I have used the bike for cross country travel as well as skills competitions and motorcycle demonstration team. If you see me out and about come say hello.
MSR Cresson 1 7 CCW Personal Best 051124
MSR Cresson 1.7 CCW - Personal Best to Date (1:20.7). Gotta give a special shout out to G Speed. They have been instrumental in helping with car setup and upgrades. The car is a blast to drive. You can find G Speed at www.gspeed.com/
I have pursued better lap times aggressively sine the first of the year and am making consistent gains. It started out the mid 1:22's were my best. A month later it became mid 1:21's. Now I am at mid 1:20's seeking high teens! I think I can make it. Car is modified but has no aero add's other than the stock body. No splitter, no wing, just mechanical grip. High teens here we come.

MSR Cresson 1.7 CCW - One of the best driving sessions I have ever had. It has been a steady progression of gains over the past few months thanks in part to some private coaching from Lew Alexander of 539 Driving Academy (www.539drivingacademy.com) and car prep and setup from G Speed (www.gspeed.com). The past month has been a blast with this car. It is a 2007 Corvette Z06 running an LS3 Crate ...

This is my son-in-law Tye in his Dodge Hellcat. The car is deceptively fast on a road course. He is doing a good job and on the verge of advancing up to the next run group which will be yellow.

Yellow Run Group - Decent session but lined up a bit to far back. Passed a lot of cars and never had a chance at a clean lap. Had fun though.

DEALS GAP (Tail of the Dragon) ON A GOLDWING; go for a ride up the Tail of the Dragon with this past GWRRA International Top Gun Champion out of Texas. Starting at Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort the Tail of the Dragon heads North along highway US 129 and is 11 miles long with 318 turns. Hang in till the end of the video where the turns come quick and the pace is stirring! The Tail of the Dragon is...
What tires are you Running?
i don fink i cud complete this course on bikyklette.
I live near the Dragon. However, for those who like the Dragon, you should try "The Snake" as well. It is 489 turns, 3 mountains, and 1 valley. It's also a LOT more miles too. 112 miles, actually. I rode it last week on my Wing. It's a blast, and it's not over in 30 minutes or less. Also, look up "The Road Runner." 160 miles of fun there!
what is that shitty racket pretending to be music? for fucks sake!!!
I really wanted to watch your video but you put that crap noise in the video and we could not hear the bike. No more videos for you. Very bad
The mute button works really well. Who knows, if you asked nicely I might have sent you a clean video. Unfortunately that ship sailed. Best of luck.
@@Stinger-ng5mrNext time you will not make that mistake. sailed ship
What time of year and day is this? Looks like a good time for a first timer like myself.
Was a Sunday morning about 8 am. I haven't shared this in the comments before now, but I was on my way back to the scene of a fatality accident. Was not riding as fast as I could, was just enjoying the bike and the road. It was unknown to me that the rider had passed until I arrived at the accident site. I had left a friend who's a doctor to do what he could. The rider had succumbed to his injuries and passed before I returned. His group passed me setting up my GoPro on the north end of the Dragon preparing to ride south. I rolled off about a minute and one half after they had passed, and caught them right before he crashed. The guy was riding erratic, and I saw him ride off the side of the mountain. It was a helpless feeling. I tell you all of this to simply say. Be careful. It is a beautiful place to ride a motorcycle. If you ride quickly you have to be especially careful of other bikes and cars crossing the centerline. You always have to be careful of that, but speed only increases the risk. There are also decreasing radius turns to contend with. You can deal with all these things safely as long as you are aware. Go enjoy the road. 318 turns in 11 miles with no side roads or drives is a rider's dream. Just be aware and be safe. Keeping the rubber side down and the shiny side up. Blessings!
@@Stinger-ng5mr Many 😊 thanks.
Nice run. Nice exhaust sound too. Doesn’t sound stock?
Thank you for the comment. Bike is stock with the exception of the suspension upgrades.
first or second gear?
Second gear. Allows you to be much smoother. Can do it in first but it’s a lot more work and not any faster. Less forgiving.
@@Stinger-ng5mr I agree with second gear. At first gear doing a u-turn from stop-start is very tricky. When moving off in second gear, it's easier.
Wow, I'd love to take my 1990 GL1500 on the Dragon some day.
Just bc you can ride fast, doesnt mean you should....slow and safe my friend
Agreed, doesn’t mean I won’t occasionally. Thank you for the feedback. Stay safe.
👍
The fact is Goldwing that’s badass
I did the Dragon over twenty times mostly on Sport bikes but I had the most fun doing it on my Wings over the years. Third gear all the way except long straights. She’s so well balanced and smooth and geared rite for this 👌😎
I made this ride twice. One on my old FLH Shovel Head and once on my 94 Heritage. Both bikes suck for that ride. Sit too low.
I have several roads like this near where I live. I live in between geiranger and Atlanterhavsveien norway. So I drive such roads almost every day, summer and winter :) by car in the winter of course: D but this also looks exciting: D I ride a suzuki GS650 and a Goldwing GL1100 :)
Could you repost this without the music please?
👏👏👏👏
Nice slow casual ride. Cool!
spicy
Ran it in 2017 on a Wing. pegs on the ground a lot and I managed not to leave any parts or skin. ❤️
What kind of camera and mike setup were you using
Used a GoPro with a suction Cup Mount attached in the center of the fairing. The camera level was just a bit higher than the bottom of the windshield. It can be seen in the cover photo on the opening scene of the video.
You might want to work on your cornering, and avoid hitting that yellow line!
Downhill is easiest - this would have been a real joyride if you were coming up hill on The Dragon!
David, thank you for the reply. There is a lot going on that this video does not tell. The clip started at the store where I have called emergency services and I was on my way back to what turned out to be a fatality accident. The hard “make time trip” was going to the store. I was just settling in to a nice brisk pace on my way back. As it turns out Deals Gap claimed another inexperienced rider riding over their head. Was a sad day on many levels. When I looked at the video I had I decided to post this one. I had told friends I would do that before I left for Tennessee. Be safe.
Nice riding music absolutely ruined it
Excellent ride 👍🏿
oh god i love my self
Commentator sounds like an a-hole
Greg, yes he does sound that way. Personally knowing him that is not his intent. It was useless banter between two friends. Appropriate probably not. Out of context certainly. Makes me hear and look at it differently. Thank you for your comment. Have a good day.
😳 WOW, You are the Master. 🏍
That's freaking awesome!
You give me confidence in my goldwing!!!!!!! Remembering yours is 1.5 inches taller and i weigh 400lbs plus hence the nick name thebigeskimo hmmmmmmmmmmm.
thebigeskimo99712 I am glad to know it helped. I love my wing and sure enjoyed riding The Dragon. Very versatile bike. Smooth and graceful.
You got the perfect bike. Ride the hell out of it big Eskimo
Would love to hear the bike and pegs scraping But dam good riding
The gold wing is so much more than cruiser. I'm a proud owner of a 1991 1500 anniversary edition
Great video, I've been on the Dragon twice...years before I had my wing. Once on a Kawasaki ZX-9R, and the other time a Suzuki GSXR-1000. A very fun and challenging road indeed, once I return to the states with the Wing it will be nice to head that way for another run in my old and wiser age LOL. Thanks for sharing the video.
Interesting lines...early entry, putting you into the path of oncoming plus giving a poor view of the road ahead.and running wide on the exits. Looks fast with little traffic about though, I'll give you that. Just hope your not someone's hood ornament now.
Cbr Commuter Nope, not hood ornament. Camera mounted on bike so all you see is where it’s pointed. My field of vision is not what you can see in the video. Thank you for the comment and ride safe.
:( @10:50 I was there that day. Sorry man. Do u have any data or know what the oil temp was? Unfortunately this is not uncommon for tracked factory stock C6 Z06s. Hope you were able to minimize the damage and that you will be back at the track soon!!!
Eric H I looked after the car rolled to a stop. Water temp was 230, oil was 275. As it turns out it dropped an exhaust valve on cylinder 2. Those temps are pretty normal. No real warning is was about to go.
Agreed. I wish you the best with the repair
The Muzak is fucking crap. Ahhhhhhhhhhg. Off.
The video is great, but OMG that music sucks so bad!!!!
I guess I can't drive my Chevy pickup or ride my Harley on this track.
Not sure about the truck. But, there are definitely bike weekends. I think the Harley would fit right in.
Looks like a lot of fun!
This video is of my son-in-law Tye in his Hellcat. Yes, it is a lot of fun.
Yes sir, you mentioned that in your description.
Awesome how your so close to / over the double yellow lines in oncoming traffic through blind corners! Now that's the American way to ride.. Totally ass backwards! Horrible cornering, and the sad thing is that 99.9999999 of Americans think this is how to corner on the streets.
I don't know who recorded this video but he should really shut his mouth.
He’s so entertaining. 🤫
@@Stinger-ng5mr You must be easy to entertain.
I ridden this many times on my GL1500. Headed there this weekend to ride it on my new to me 2012 GL1800. Cant wait! Will have the wife on the back and my son following with his girlfriend on his CTX1300 so can really hit like I would want to. Nice riding in your Vid WingPro just a little wide on some of the turns, lol.
STOP WITH THE APOSTROPHES!
This guy has got some skills
Good video- Please get rid of all the apostrophes that aren't needed. "Dragon's are dangerous," and "Dragon's Bite" etc. "Dragons Bite" is correct. There is nothing possessive in that statement, and bad grammar just enforces the stereotype that motorcyclists are meatheads.
The only thing unique to Texas is unwarranted arrogance.
Your partner is Deals Gap.
Traxxion stuff really makes a difference on the GW!
Been there three times, first time on 03 Valkyrie, last two on 1800 wing. Biggest problem is dodging the idiot driven crotch rockets.
Did this in 2013 with wife on a new F6-B was a blast!!!!!
Texas Two Step = step on the brake going into the curve step on the gas coming out of the curve. That's the same as the KY two step. LOL
