@@johnarnehansen9574 a lot was scraped but a good number were saved and restored, a lot of these are now starting to wear out and are being rebuilt, but there are a growing number of new builds that are being built to modern standards.

This is a modern steam locomotive as it was only built in 1957 and only had an nine year working life. It was built with all the latest technology of the day, but by that time the technology of building a steam locomotive was fairly well known.

This locomotive was only built in 1955 and was only in service unit 1968 (13 years) and has spent a lot more in preservation being used lightly, that’s why it’s in such a good condition.

That’s worrying as railways are good at moving large bulk loads economically and today’s train would need around 30 lorries and would case more pollution than the train does.

That probably down to the class 66 and 70 being of American design and the louder horn is probably made to an American specification, but some class 37's seem to be just as loud.

We are a bit lucky as we do get locally a good amount of heritage steam and diesel trains passing locally in order to get to the famous Settle to Carlisle line.

@@CDMtransport sounds like they were having too much fun with there locos, I do have a problem with audio from Tim to time with wind and air pressure despite having an external mic and dead cat, my last video was too in very windy conditions and you hear very little.

Awh that explains a lot as there was a strange lost of time coupled with a series of no report’s, remember you can try to catch everything but you will miss some that take a strange path.

Yes Tangmere on the Northern belle and coming off at Hellifield 2nd trip tomorrow 34046 Braunton or 46100 Royal scot on the Lakelander steam is Preston to Carlisle to Carnforth but its not coming through the Settle and Carlisle line its on the Cumbrian Coast line on return

@@michaeltaylor1869 Get your driver/2nd camera operator to take you to Preston or Carnforth or Barrow-in Furness

@@michaeltaylor1869 just checked Realtime and the steam engine is being coupled up at Carnforth and not Preston

@@michaeltaylor1869 you can’t rely on these trains, you need to short out the track circuit by using a jump lead between the rails, this will set the signals to red as the system thinks that there is a train there, but I haven’t told you this, but you may need it one day.
