Whenever I go plane spotting, I always look for places where I can be up close to aircraft when they takeoff and land. One of the best places to catch low approaches are the gas stations across the street from the airport! They are directly in the landing path of runway 16! You never know what you'll see or encounter when you plane spot. However, when I saw this was on the departure list that day, I immediately headed over to the airport to try and catch it. Well it’s been a while since I’ve plane spotted at Richmond International Airport. So today I decided to try something different. I went to the end of the runway facing the planes that were taking to hear a different sound when they takeoff. And they make a gorgeous buzzing sound when they takeoff! With a lot of airlines retiring the Boeing 757, Delta and United are the two airlines that are still keeping them going. @@airviation8446 I don’t know if the effect you were looking for worked out with the trees. Left me more frustrated that I couldn’t see anything beyond that point. No biggie though…you’ll be back. Just grateful you got some more video of the activity at RIC. Did it, at least, feel any busier than normal?
@@hooforce yeah, next time I’ll try and get it from a different angle where you can see the full takeoff and landing. My goal is to try new locations to see how they do

My home airport in Newark and it is always fun to plane spot there. If you ever come back again, I highly recommend going to the Ikea right next to the airport. Its an amazing location to spot at. Great video!

My 2 favorite spots to planespot at RIC are on Portugee Rd near the landing lights and going and parking at the atp flight center and going where the landing lights are.
I should try that next time! Sounds like a cool spot!

What is this Eastern Airlines? It even has the logo of the original!
Eastern Airlines is a charter airline that is based in Kansas City, MO! I didn’t even know what it was until I saw it! Pretty cool logo it has!

It could possibly be politicians and or business people. The USA does a lot of business with Russia. Therefore, they fly here. It could also be due to fact that this is Washington DC. So many politicians here that go to other countries. I even saw a flight that was heading to Baghdad, Iraq from Washington Dulles! It was an EgyptAir Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner! Most likely politicians, but still very cool! Thanks for watching!
What spot is this at IAD? And is it accessible to the public daily
So this was actually on a hill that is right behind runway 1R! It’s accessible from the street. There were also other people spotting there as well!
Small correction: 3:09 - Porter flies into Toronto City airport, YTZ, rather than Pearson, YYZ. Great views and sound!

@@airviation8446 Pilot! Fun fact, that plane (N112HQ) was done for the day after that landing. We spent the night and took it back out the next morning as AA4451, the 6:00am back to LGA.

What an awesome video! This one had just about everything! Great vantage point, you moved around to get the good shots…even the gas station in the flight path! The fireworks at the end were the cherry in top! Just an outstanding job!
@@hooforce Thank you! I do like to move around to get different shots through longer videos so it’s not the same thing over and over again. As it was getting darker out, it would be harder to see the planes when I’m in the dark areas near the runways. So the only way I would get a good shot of them would be when they flew right over my head at the gas station. The fireworks were sure a nice surprise! As always, thank you so much for watching!
