I wish NC State kept these helmets for more than one season.

This is a game between 2 of the most confusing and inconsistent teams of that season. NC State beat FSU and Syracuse, but was mediocre otherwise. Syracuse beat Michigan, Miami, and Virginia Tech, and lost to eventual national champ Tennessee by 1 point, but were beaten soundly by NC State.

NC State is an underrated QB factory. Fitting that their uniforms resemble Stanford's.

I was the long snapper, #62, if you watch the last 2 punts, they did not go well LOL. I thought the guy separated my shoulder on the next to last punt. You see him just blast my left shoulder and I went down. Out of both HS and college that was the hardest anyone hit me. He separated the LSU and Bama snapper's shoulders that season so I was trying to watch for him. Oh well.

If State hadn't bumbled that first block for a safety and instead got a touchdown, TX would have been required to score a TD and get the 2 pt conversion on their final possession to tie it up. State likely wouldn't have gone for 2 on either of those other blocked punt TDs.

I watched this in Champaign, Illinois. After suffering through this I walked to and watched Illinois win their first game in like 2 years. On the way up to the stadium I could hear "6 interceptions" coming from EVERY tailgate. Went onto the field after Illinois won until the pepper spray showed up. In the parking lot on the way out I could hear "I guess I'd be happy too if I won my first game after losing 18" from Middle Tennessee's band members. It was an interesting day for me lol. I was 14.
