Abandoned Railway Stations In England
Просмотров 110 тыс.11 лет назад
A small collection of pictures of abandoned Railway Stations throughout the UK.I dare say there are many more that have gone wayside that I haven't collected .As times change so it makes way to create our past and give us great memories.
There's a special level in Hell occupied by the likes of Dr. Richard Beeching and just about all politicians!
Lost places, spooky😮
Falkirk never played at fir park? I think Stirling alb did
This video man… nostalgia
Interesting.
When you think of the hard work the poor old labourers had to do.Glad I'm old.Wonder what they got paid?and what age they died of the heavy work .
I`ll bet most of these are housing estates or retail parks by now.
Firs Park was the old ground of East Stirlingshire not Falkirk
In fairness, Ninian Park became redundant when Cardiff got their new stadium just across the road from it - it wasn’t around for very long after and is now a housing estate
What a waste. Turn these over to schools and communities.
as a boy I used to go and watch my home town Chelmsford play in the Southern League in an older terraced stadium.......lots of fond memories
A local sports and cricket was derelict for many years council wouldn't sell it so just got worse dumped cars poisonous rubbish dumped needles etc I stopped walking near it with dog as become a tip for goodness knows what. A local guy who was a builder had a dream to turn it into a fishing venue and nature reserve.. After many years he did so It is now the Jewel I the Crown with 2 fishing lakes a nature reserve and cafe. Look it up Redbridge Lakes Anglers Rest Cafe... It's on the Web worth seeing what happens when someone is determined to make things better..
As a non football follower I'm still stunned to see such large areas derelict and economically inactive which blights the area around them and this encourages vandalism car dumping burning of other buildings and generally . Perhaps out of millions of pounds in football the authorities should have a find to assist either reuse odvsradiums or a fund to help get grants to re build and repurpose unwanted facilities to something that benefits the community as football did...
Sad, R.I.P ☹️🥅🏐
Thank you for this somewhat melancholy but very interesting video. Back in the 1950s I vacationed on the cheap by cycling from Norfolk to the Bath area, staying at YHA youth hostels, then very numerous. I stayed at one decommissioned railway station turned into a hostel, in East Anglia or the Fen Country--I can't remember exactly where now. Maybe Suffolk? It was a small single-story building turned into a six-bunk hostel. I had booked ahead, and the warden (presumably part-time) had cycled in to let me in. My bunk was in the old waiting room. The stationmaster's office and booking office were also utilized. When night came, to ensure my safety (I was the only guest), he locked me in and cycled away. When I turned off the gaslight, it was a bit spooky, but no ghosts! In the morning he cycled back to let me out. How many viewers of this video have been privileged to spend the night alone in a railway station-turned-youth hostel? I once tried to look it up on the YHA (or whatever the name is now) Web site, but it seems to have been closed, and I wonder what has happened to the building. It was all on its own in the middle of rather bleak flat farming country, with no village or indeed other habitation anywhere near.
Saltergate, chesterfield FC old home is now completely demolished and a new housing estate built on it. They moved to a new built stadium about 2 miles outside of town :)
Good video.but Firs Park was East Stirlingshires ground where Sir Alex Ferguson first managed before going to St Mirren.
Sad and haunting , great choice of music though .
All these grounds are still better than Lut*ns ground in its present state😂😂😂😂
I worked as a match day steward at Feethams (Darlington) 1998-2000. Then had a season ticket in the east stand (one with all the seats) 2002-2004 before Darlo moved to the horrendous "Reynolds Arena" in 2004
Trouble is they're all to busy on their phones and games nsoles to get out and play football
Why 9 years later. Something is wrong with the algorithm it keeps suggesting videos from the last decade.
Me: 😞😞😳🥺🕺🏻🕺🏻💃🏻
I played in the Enfield White Lion Ground, probably in the Vase or maybe FAC Q1. Lost that one. Also played on the Aylesbury stadium Berks and Bucks Senior Cup, lost that one too.
It makes me sad to watch this. I visited most of these grounds and they were unique. Stand added here when a player was sold or they got promoted. You can go to 1 new ground and say you have been to them all. It's the same flat-pack design. People like jonny rotten are 100% correct these grounds were historical buildings and WE let them knock them down. Modern Life is Rubbish!
Swanbourne is flattened and ewr is being laid
Firs park falkirk fc ???
I live in Doncaster and never saw that I only saw the stadium in the lake side
It’s surprising how nature takes over
Somerton Park, Newport County. My first match as a Newport supporter saw County beat Portsmouth 4/3 at Somerton in 1979 / 80. Best memory for me at Somerton was County's Cup Winners Cup 1/4 final v German club Carl Zeis Jena in 1980 / 81. Lost 1-0 but the memory of a capacity 18,000 spectators present.
Tommy Tynan was the striker back then I believe. Didn't Newport County get booted out of the 4th Division halfway through the 1988/89 season??
Went to Belle View to watch Aldershot draw 0-0 on a Sunday. Got smashed on the way home.🍻🍻 Great days.
Quite eerie.
Firs Park was the home of East Stirlingshire not of Falkirk FC, Brockville which was missed from this video was Falkirk's old ground. Both were demolished.
East Stirling, actually in Falkirk, one of their managers went to St Mirren then Aberdeen then Manchester United, guess who?
All of these have been demolished and built over.
Firs Park was not Falkirk's Stadium it was East Stirlingshire FC.
very interesting
So 👍
Very sad, football should be encouraged at all levels 😇
It’s called Filey Holiday Camp, Filey
Some of them can be re built
Good to see Wimbledon move back to a new plough lane
Went to see Kingstonian play Colchester United at Layer road in the 1991/92 season. FA trophy 1st round game. Kingstonian drew 2-2, which was a bit of a shock at the time as Colchester were in the Vauxhall conference and K’s were in the Isthmian league, a league below.
The first thing you think of is the history of the grounds.
Firs park was home to East Stirlingshire who played in Falkirk but not Falkirk FC .
In them days every football ground was different. Now their all the same. In fact every stand was different. Many were shit holes. All had character. Missed. Maybe.
Went to quite a few of those grounds ,great memories never forgotten.
All done to allow the total invasion of the car and highways.
Sic transit gloria mundi
bit like the UK,the country is closed due to covid, you will not enjoy life, put your mask on and take the vaccine or be an outcast
Very sad that these truly iconic stadiums have been abandoned. One thing though; Firs Park ,although technically in Falkirk was actually the home of East Stirlingshire FC who are currently playing in the South of Scotland League.
I think footy adventures done a video about them.
