Eco Bundling - How to Naturally Dye Your Own Clothes
In this video, I’m taking you step by step through the process of eco bundling as I dye a few thrifted shirts. Working with natural dyes is such a fun and rewarding creative way of working - especially when you can use natural dyes to transform secondhand items and give them new life.
Dye practices vary from artist to artist, and what I’m showing you today is a bit of a simplified method that’s easy to do at home with what you have on hand. I hope it inspires you to try out naturally dyeing! Let me know in the comments what you think about this process and if you’re going to give it a go!

Redesigning Thrifted Button Downs | Thrift Flip
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.3 года назад
This week I challenged myself to redesign 6 thrifted button down shirts. Reusing and reshaping materials is really important to me as an artist, because I want to reduce textile waste, rather than add to it. So I’m on a mission to make a more sustainable/environmentally friendly wardrobe - one that lets me play and explore creatively. This video is part 1 of 2, so I’m showing you 3 shirts. I wa...
Making a Lamp From Old Sweaters | Thrift Flip
Просмотров 8373 года назад
In this video, I’m upcycling a hanging pendant light using yarn. I found this pendant lamp at a hotel liquidation store, which is a business that sells used hotel furnishings. I have been wanting to use the yarn-wrapping technique in a lighting project, so I figured this was the perfect lamp to try it out on. The yarn I’m using is upcycled from secondhand sweaters, so this is a fully upcycled p...
Making a Quilt Coat | Repurposing Damaged Quilts into Wearable Clothing
Просмотров 42 тыс.3 года назад
In this video, I’m sharing my process of sewing a quilt coat from start to finish. It’s one of my most asked-about products, and I wanted to share everything that goes into making these amazing quilted jackets. For my coats, I use antique quilts with damages, like stains or tears, because I’m a big supporter of repurposing and upcycling (and because I can’t bring myself to cut up a perfectly go...
Where did you get the pattern.
I’d love to make a quilt coat. I just purchased a quilted throw that is so unique. I would have kept the coat you kept also!
Thanks for all the tips!! Very inspirational. 🎉
I love your coat pattern. I know that you tweaked it a bit but can you give me info on the original pattern. Thanks in advance 😃
It’s really cute!
I love all of them. Good to know there's ways to get dark colors
Love it, hoping to make one for my granddaughter
I love the repurposing of a quilt that mean't so much to someone earlier and is given new life to who makes it into a coat! Great job! I am a quilter not a sewer but I so want to try and do this! 🥰
Beautiful ❤
I'm just finding this & love all of your coats! I was so hoping when you cut out the green one you were going to have the half square triangle border at the bottom. You did have it on the sleeves. But it still came out great 🥰🥰 My favorite was the red & blue star quilt!!
What platform do you sell your coats on.
Always add POCKETS they are essential
Could I get this pattern?
You never followed up with the mordant process which is vital for color setting or all the work you're demonstrating is useless.
So inspiring!! Thank you so much ! I’m definitely trying this ❤️
I love your videos! I just found you and I’m sad that you don’t seem to be making them anymore. I hope you will again. I love the way that you show and explain what you’re doing. The editing is perfect too! Please make more videos! 🥰✌️
I love your coat sooooo much! Do you still sell them? Great tutorial!,,
Love your coats. They look very cozy! Nicely done!
How can we add a layer of something plastic to make it wind and water proof?
We can even create a coat out of pasmina shawls.
Very cool! You are super adorable and just filled to the brim with creativity! It’s so refreshing to watch for this old lady. 😊💕 Happy creating!
You make sewing look so incredibly easy! I used to sew and make my own clothes, but have not seen for many years. I’m working on getting my studio together and I will start sewing again. I hope it comes as naturally to me as it is to you.
Hi! What patterns did you use to mash up the final product? Also, did you leave the inside just serged or are the inside seams finished with bias tape also? Thanks!!
I swear My Grandma made that quilt. I had the exact copy with pink lining the 9squares grid. My grand father even wore a shirt with tiny red cats on it, and the brown moon disk thingys. My pink quilt was also square, and had alot of the candy cane plaids on it. Thank you for making my dream appear, a cozy coat made with real memories.
How sweet would that be to discover a quilt your grandmother made out in the works being loved?❤
I'm inspired
So pretty, I am getting ready to start my own quilt jacket, except I’m making the quilt from scratch. I see you don’t have a pattern, I love your design so I’ll try my best to copy it.
I would LOVE to purchase your One Size Fits Most pattern, I love it! I have 2 old quilts from a garage sale and I’m in need of a light coat, this would be perfect
Oh my goodness! I love this!! 😍 You did such a great job on all of these!! 👏🏼 I recently picked up a damaged vintage quilt at an estate sale & I am so inspired to make one! ✨️
Can i purchase your pattern
LOVE this!!!!!! I wish I had this exact pattern.........
Thank you.❤
Do you have any pettern suggestions to buy for me to begin?
Since I watched your video, I have gotten several old quilts that I would love to make a robe quilt out of. I need to make a pattern. Any suggestions?
Beautiful creation and great tutorial! I love how you took all body shapes into your pattern design too😊
Thank you for your video! Your costs are absolutely amazing! I'm sewing a quilt house cost and I needed some tips for the binding, so thank you 😊
Beautiful job !
I have been looking for this video for MONTHS! And I have just the quilt to do this with. My first queen size quilt that I made for my hubby and I has damaged fabric pieces on it (ALL the same fabric!). I’m thinking that, bc I don’t like the green backing fabric close to my face, that I’ll add other fabric (probably a Grunge) as facings for the front and cuffs.
Love this. 😊
Can you wash after they’re done? Will they fade.
too bad
Can you tell me more about the pattern you used, I like that the collar is apart of the pattern.
Beautiful 👏❤️👏
I love your pattern! Do you sell it buy chance?
🍁🍁🌾🌱🌱🌱🌿🌿🍀🍀🍀🌺🌺🌺😍
Never never cut up old quilts to make clothes. How can you do that. They can be repaired. Do you know how much work was put into quilts. Shame on you.
Super
I like it!!! Is this easy to wash?
What is the mordenting you do!
What size quilt to you use...got some that would great
Not sure if you’ll see this question…but, have you ever added a hood?
Soo kool✨
