Its all in the preparation brother…if basketing is every Friday afternoon, all week feed the birds early get them used to getting in the basket in the afternoon during the time of basketing. Then watch then weather all week….certain winds if you think the birds are going to get pushed west during race day train them west train them into head winds. Basically train them in all directions into headwinds..i know it sounds a lot of work but its simple just like life you get what you put into it. All support here brother I want to see you succeed just like every pigeon fancier. We gotta support each other only way this hobby will continue and grow. Criticism should only push you and think about it when you dont feel like training them or dont feel like doing anything think about your ‘why’ why youre doing this, why you started. You will get better as the years go on it is hard when you are first starting out. You can make your own basket were you could feed them later on in the day and that may help some but also try and find some good birds that will break from the main group no matter how many birds they are flying with it took me years to find those birds in my family of Houbens but when you do find them it will change your hole loft. I know Adrian P. and I have been to his loft he has good birds and he is a good guy. I am not sure if you are looking for a couple of decent cocks out of proven lines I have a few late hatchs here I know there is one out there that his sibling was 16th in the last 300 mile race and there is others. The line produced 4th 8th and 9th Champion young birds this year in Illinois this year

My observation coming into this from a different flying breed after 40 years: There is no consistent ideology involved in racing practices. If you ask 100 different fliers how to do things, you'll get 100 different answers, most of which are contrary to each other. You can repeat the advice of some of the best fliers in the world and somebody (usually not as successful) is going to tell you that they are totally scrambled and don't know what they're doing. You have a mentor who is successful, and it's my opinion that Joe is the ONLY guy you should take criticism from. He flies in the same area, he sees your pigeons, he sees your mistakes, and he has your best interests in mind. Taking advice from someone else is one thing, but taking criticism is another thing entirely because your mentor is probably the only one who has your best interests in mind. It's important for a mentor's protege to do well, because afterall, your success not only reflects on him, but chances are usually high that the protege will be responsible for carrying on his work. My mentor in Rollers had a reputation for being a sullen, crotchety and morose old man, but I can tell you that he never steered me wrong, nor was he ever emotionally brutal to me. Any criticisms he made were always designed as learning experiences. I had some good advice from other fliers in those days, for which I'm still grateful, but in the end, the only scolding I would tolerate came from my mentor as I knew it was always well intended. I would suggest adopting the same practice. On note, you are spot on that a lot of "help" is not intended as help at all. My grandmother and aunt were very successful dog breeders and often told a story they called the "wire brush" story. When they got started they saved up money to buy this nice puppy. He was their first real show dog and they beat a well known breeder the first time out. After they get out of the ring, the breeder suggests to them that they should get a wire brush and brush the puppy with it backward. After the breeder walked away, the judge, who was very old, came over and whispered to them, "Don't you listen to her about that wire brush. It's sabotage!" They listened to the judge and they beat the wire brush lady the next four shows to finish their first champion! This was many, many years ago now, so intentional sabotage is not a recent development in society. You did well this year. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Be proud of yourself you raced the whole season and still have birds left for old birds There are guys that have been racing 30 yrs in the cjc combine that lost all of their birds and packed it in early. Enjoy the birds my friend and God bless

Brother do you enjoy your pigeons? Yes I feel that you do. And that’s ALL that matters. You’ll win some you’ll lose some races and unfortunately some birds. But as long as you enjoy them and they bring you peace and calmness and happiness to your life that’s all that matters. I flew pigeons and left the hobby and it’s been hard to get back to my life. But when I had them I loved them. Loved seeing them fly hearing them fly and the love they had for me every time they came home. Keep it up brother and don’t worry about everything else

Everything you are mentioning in this video that you need to do or should have done, is something that you should have already figured out and been doing for the past 2 racing seasons. If you had, you would have done much better and not lost so many birds while ending up with only 4 left at the end of the season. You are making the same mistakes over and over again and haven't changed anything to fix them.. If things don't change with your pigeon handling and loft management practices, you're just gonna keep on spinning your wheels in the mud.. I don't mean to sound negative, discouraging or mean, I'm just giving you the cold hard facts because it seems like nobody else on here who watches your videos will do it.. They just keep patting you on the back and saying good job, when they should be kicking you in your ass to change things so you can do better.. As you have seen, I don't sugar coat my comments. Not gonna happen with me..

Hey bro being in a pigeon loft without a mask is not too healthy so the doctor would say, there are people that never got sick as for me I got a lil irritated in the nasal as I spent every moment of sunlight in that loft during covid 3 times😂 sniffing in the loft might get u worst bro . Sounds like the one calling the shots for the combine don't know when to cancel a race if the weather doesn't look good. Only takes 5 min to look and determine what the weather conditions are gonna be on race day and that can be done a couple of days before basketing time. Not a good combine to fly with in my opinion.. The birds welfare should come first.. And Who TH is this "Takeon" person you always mention.. I've never ever heard of the guy in the pigeon racing world.. Good luck in the last race. The birds are at a disadvantage, so hopefully they all get back safely.
