Commenting on my own video: I attended summer camp here for 7 of 8 consecutive years, from 1956 thru 1963. It was one of the greatest collective experiences of my entire youth and my life.

I believe I started school in 58, at a Catholic school in Pennsylvania. The buildings were almost identical.

Annette was such a great lady (we are the same age). Most unfortunate what happened to her later in life. She was my secret love along with millions of then young men.

The gentleman who built the house I currently live in, was one of the heroic firemen who saved many lives that day. He was, as I have heard, forever changed and broken by the traumatic events of that fire. I often think of him trying to rebuild his life through his little home built with his own hands on a quiet lake in Northern Wisconsin.

I met a survivor in college ; she never really recovered from her injuries physically or emotionally 😢

I was born july 1960, well after this tragic fire. I came across this tragic history recently. The pictures, testimonials and accounts of the tragic events of this day are haunting, at least. I cry like a child sometimes, but i cant stay away from this story. PLEASE GOD, PLEASE KEEP THESE SOULS CLOSE AND DEAR.

What was it about this girl that visually entranced almost any guy who laid eyes on her? What qualities did she possess that other girls have as well, but aren't nearly as popular as Annette Funicello???

During mid-October of 1955(when the Mickey Mouse Club premiered),Walt Disney saw Annette with her mom at Disneyland and told Annette, "You must have a lot of relatives. You've gotten lots of mail." By the third season,Annette had her own serial and a lot of solo spots.

I had a 45 rpm single of this song when I was a kid. I always loved Annette's singing, and never got tired of playing the record. So good to hear it here!

The tortured expressions on the faces of the parents 😔 all these years later you can still feel their agony.

There’s a 60 something year old lady in my Bible study who still cries about this often. Her niece was in there.

In the basement of the new school there's a section about a quarter of it behind 2 steel doors are a large if not all the ashes of the old school. I was helping a friend of mine through out the trash from the classrooms and he brought me down there and showed me, I felt a chill that I have never forgotten to this day.

Sadly in spite of previous disasters such as the Iroquois Theater fire that took so many lives in 1903 many who were children, history is bound to repeat itself. Fires and loss of life such as the Coconut Grove, Beverly Hills Supper Club, The Station are but a few examples where in the aftermath new safety regulations were implemented. The OLA fire was one such example. It’s sad that something tragic has to happen before safety regulations are implemented. I’m sure there are buildings that exist today that are a disaster waiting to happen. I hope they don’t but sadly they probably will. The memories of those that lost their lives in the OLA fire should serve as a reminder of how fragile and precious human life is.

Thank you for this tribute. How sad, you can't help but cry when watching and hearing of all the devastation. I am grateful to be here today, as my mom was a survivor of this fire (she was in first grade) to this day she will never forget seeing a boy jumping out of the window with his hair on fire. How innocent these young children were, my mom remembers wanting to go back in the school because she forgot her gloves and thought that her mom (my Nani) would be mad at her. I pray for peace to all these families and to the people who were affected by this horrific day. God Bless.

I was 7 at the time ! And saw all fire trucks rushing east towards fire ! Later on news TV OMG! Every December from then on as holiday season starts, the kid's that didn't make Xmas! Reminder of life ups/ downs! R i P the Angel's of Fire!
