ADIRONDACK DAYS
Добавлен 25 май 2021
The Adirondack Days RUclips channel is meant for outdoor enthusiasts. I myself have a passion for the outdoors, still a Boy Scout at heart I enjoy anything from hiking, plant identification, bush-crafting, animal identification, hunting, fishing, tracking etc., these passions will always be a part of my life.
This channel is an ongoing experiment constantly evolving and growing as my skill set becomes more advanced. I would like the opportunity to grow with all of you sharing tips and tricks with others in our outdoor community. Adirondack Days serves as a networking platform for learning these rare and sometimes forgotten valuable skills.

Great info! Thanks! 🤙
ALL compasses in the Adirondacks point to THE INN at STONEY CREEK!
I don`t want to get into a pickle!I just wanna ride my motorcycle!A happy new year to you.
I carry a ten millimeter around my neck
Maybe a coaches whistle too🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Great video, well thought out and explained!
I would have to add a small flashlight of some sort…..even a button type light. Compass no bueno if too dark to see it.
Sure is a lot of talking: get to it 😮
Nice setup. I also added a CRKT neck knife
All of these reasons are true, but you also want to take your time and pay attention so that you do not become victim to a wild animal- for example, if you lean onto a tree that may have snakes in or on it and get bitten before you realize what happened, etc….
Cut,Cover,Carry, Combustion, Cordage. 5 C"s of survival
The only thing I would add to that neck lanyard is a heavy duty down filled winter sleeping bag, a plastic tarp, some more bank line and a quart of water. Ha ha ha! :-) Seriously though, Excellent video! Thanks.
lol awesome I was also thinking of adding a winner-well camp stove to my lanyard lol I would just have to find a way to carry firewood around my neck too
@@jo-qf3rv 🤣
Awesome😊
Never! Leave home without the ability to cut and make fire. I try to follow that anywhere I go.
Cut,combustion, cover,Carry, Cordage.
Whistle
Here in Maine we’re hoping for snow, can’t buy an inch.
I would add a couple cotton balls coated in Vaseline. Small plastic sealed pouch. Ferro or spark from Bic should be enough to get a fire.
⭒˚.⋆ 🥂⋆⭒˚Happy New Year! Dearest friend, ADIRONDACK DAYS, What an enchanting experience to hear your conversation with a barred owl! The peaceful connection between nature and your surroundings is captivating. ⋆ Thank you for sharing this special moment. Many Thanks !!!!
@@jo-qf3rv you are welcome, thank you again.
Out in the woods, I run a neck knife setup with a Becker Necker, ferro rod, ceramic sharpening rod, Maglite Solitare and multiple ranger bands holding them on. My compass and lighter are in my pockets. Your setup looks great though. I may have to give it a try.
That’s why I love this channel and the Bushcraft community. I get so many great ideas from you guys you guys are awesome.
If you could put a list of gear you use in the description that would help others to know more about the gear that you carry. The videos are good. Thank you
Most definitely good point thank you !!!
Always a blessing!!!!!
Thank you for the lovely hike. Even if it was shorter than you would have liked.
Always a Blessing!!! Thank you!!!!
What is that white stuff? Summer here (January) and temperatures are in the triple digits (for those who don’t use Celsius).
Where is you P38 ?
Obviously not an old soldier 😂 Still have mine from Vietnam and my kids have their own as well
Cool vid thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for watching!
Good choices
Isn’t true you that you can’t cut down anything g in the park? Even if it is dead? Or is that only true in certain places? Im visiting my folks and this is what I’m being told. Ps- finally some snow!
I agree about carrying around the neck. I use a waterproof case. Add an SOL large emergency blanket and a GI bandage to the pockets of your coat. Good Luck, Rick
great thinking never would have thought about the blanket
@@John-kl8mz It really can be a life saver. I used to teach Wilderness Survival Merit Badge and of course I experimented on campouts. I found that the SOL large Emergency Blanket(it used to be called a Heatsheet) was the best for the price. It is bigger(5' x 8'), tougher, and quieter than the mylar blankets. It can be reused. The neck cases that I used were for swimmers and can hold the blanket and basic survival gear. SOL did come out with a poncho version of the Heatsheet. Good Luck, Rick
I try to keep a few Bic lighters in my garments and pack. Always have a stout folder, flashlight, and a diamond stone.
Wyoming guy here. Winters can kill you fast if you are not careful.
top tip buddy, another good demo my friend
Nice one buddy,good demo 👍
Hope everyone has a safe New Year. It sure is starting off crazy. Hoping things go smoothly for the next 17 days and we get a good grip on the mayhem after that.
Wishful thinking my friend, “out of the frying pan into the fire “ springs to mind!🇬🇧🇺🇸
Just ran across your channel. I live in Florida now but I grew up in the Lake George area on the edge of the Adirondacks. We would always hike and camp in the Adirondacks as a family. I gotta be honest and that although I miss it up there where ai grew up, but glad I’m in Florida for reasons I won’t get into. But I do miss the great times we spent in the mountains and the beauty of the area.
If you become a devorced male you BETTER not let the sunset on you in ny.RUN AWAY>>
Thanks for subscribing that’s beautiful country up there
Nice location…have fun stay safe.
You bet, truly my home !!!
New sub, I live south of you about 2 hrs, I recently started wearing a neck knife, Oldewolf makes a nice one, and it comes with fire steel and striker.
I been wanting to get one of those any recommendations, thank you for the suggestions and knowledge
@ it’s called the Odenwolf mini neck knife.
Greetings from a Tiny Island in Maine, USA Nice tips. New sub for your channel
Keep the videos coming! Happy new year.
Got a lot more coming just getting started thank you so much for the support!!!
@@jo-qf3rv Glad to hear that, I'm looking forward to more videos. You're welcome!
I have a similar lanyard made for traveling in the wilderness. Its 8 foot of paracord doubled over with a breakaway clasp and small carabiner. It attaches to a small leather pouch containing 15 feet of #18 bankline, a coldsteel recon micro tanto blade, a whistle, fernel lens, and a mini Bic wrapped in waxed thred and gorilla tape. The entire setup is under a pound, and you don't think about it when you wear it.
It’s the only way to go as far as having gear on your person. Has helped a lot if you got any ideas, throw them my way always willing to learn.
Wow would love to see that!!!
Might want to add a whistle
Just found your channel and look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Glad you found my channel! Stay tuned I got a lot more coming. Thank you so much for the support.
Nice. I love just going out and setting up a day camp like that. Something about just getting away in the woods.
Yes sir!!! Love it will be doing semi-permanent shelters next, just in case you can’t make it out👍👍. Thank you
Great vidio thank you.
Yes sir!!! Thank you
Good info, I'd add a neck knife and whistle; maybe a penlight.
Thank you for the idea!!!!
ALWAYS a small penlight...
You & I have similar contents in our packs, although more of my gear is Old School .At age 83, I am limited to walking VERY short distances & can no longer carry a pack of more than 10-15 pounds. However, I compensate by hauling my pack in a 3-wheel off-road Toddler Stroller which enables me to use it like a free-wheeling walker that helps my balance along the trail. Thanks. 'Hope you had a blessed christmnas & the blessings of our Lord will continue throughout the coming year. Have a blessed evening.
Wow you have woodland wisdom, would love to hear some of your thoughts and stories about the forest!!! Blessed with every breath.
A small compass, got that right. Saved me painful days of hiking , also lost my compass a few times. You never know how important they are untill you need it, rare but a life saver
Very true, I have been lost before. I will be doing some land navigation content soon. Thank you for the comment!!
Stick vertically in the ground at sunrise. Watch where it begins . Probably East.
Very nice . Never heard of the calorie rations. I spend a lot of time on 13th lake. Riparious. Thanks
Yeah, that’s a four day supply 12 tabs a day get you the caloric intake you need. They’re supposed to last 25 years under normal storage conditions. The ones that I have on the video or three years old and they’re still fine. I’ve had them out in the summer in the winter not too bad vanilla malt flavor thanks for the comments, seriously!!!!
Welcome...need that at the end of a long day and when your gassed out fron hunt or kayak trip.
