As a aegis player, i took a set off a pr player in bracket that i absolutely shouldnt have the other day. I was down an entire stock, i pulled off the pyra footstool combo twice in a row and then killed him from the advantage it gave me. So much serotonin

Nah this is fake. People play smash (at least the newer ones) because it’s Mario beating the fuck out of joker persona 5. You can try to hype it up as much as you want but the characters are the only thing giving smash a consistent playerbase

As a melee player Its the endless skill ceiling that keeps me interested. Also the history/story lines of the top players. But lately rivals of aether 2 has had my attention more than melee.

I'm always obligated to say it, but it seems even more fitting here. Lucas has Footstool DJCZ, this, if repeated, is an infinite. This means Lucas has a true, universal infinite, out of shield. The only character it doesn't work on is Charizard when he is facing the same direction as Lucas because his big head gets in the way. It isn't even hard either. Just no one plays Lucas, and those who are good don't know about/use it. Anyways tldr, Lucas FSDJCZ is cracked and underexplored.

Melee and 64 doesnt have footstools, but it has things that are wacky and niche but have a lot of depth for people to lab and explore. That was the point of the video, that footstools represent why we play smash(to explore it's wacky niche things), that's the title Sorry you didnt get the point of it tho

My only problem with footstools is when they’re done offstage, cuz I think they’re often far too easy to perform on a recovering opponent and the reward the edgeguarder gets is insane. This is due to the fact that they make an aerial opponent fall so far while being unable to act until it’s usually far too late. I think this could be fixed by simply reducing how long it takes to act after getting footstooled, that way there are still basically all of the aerial footstool combos and it still gives u some reward to use a raw footstool as an edgeguard option, but it takes away a lot of the annoyance of getting footstooled offstage
