Flames are supposed to stay INSIDE the oil boiler... (Links in description)
This worn out boiler from 1989 has had its last burn. The mounting area for the burner has deteriorated enough that the burner is going to fall off soon. Now the flames are shooting out and soot is making a mess too. Time for a replacement.

    Bought our house A few years ago. Has this humidifier but my question is why doesn’t the humidity temperature go up on my wall ecobee when I turn up humidifier. Always stays roughly 24 percent. Are they not connected?

    • @TrolleyBrothers
      @TrolleyBrothers 3 дня назад

      The humidifier and ecobee are not connected. The model that has the outdoor temperature sensor will auto adjust the humidity based on the outside temperature so you may not see many differences. I would recommend calling a professional to ensure it is installed properly and running correctly. I would think it would be higher than 24%, but maybe not.

    Great information in this video, thanks! Is the 50 g. tank working well for you? We are a family of 3 with 2.5 bathrooms and I was not sure if to get a 50 or 65g tank. The tank will be installed in my basement and has the space required by Rheem.

    • @TrolleyBrothers
      @TrolleyBrothers 3 дня назад

      The 50 gallon has worked well with eight people for a period of three months. No one ever ran out of water and now back to five people it will definitely not be a problem. Possibly showering one after another may cause the water heater to not keep up, but that is all dependent on how long the showers are and such.

    The alarm doesnt help much if you are not at home, or if you're wife, kids don't know how to turn everything off.. Better to buy a water pressure stop.. It has the same plates to detect water, but it will also shut the mains off as soon as it detects water on the floor.. Thats useful

      Same thing for a regular smoke detector as compared to a Wi-Fi smoke detector. Some people are home all the time and these are a cheap basic option for them. For others the Wi-Fi one is great that shuts off the water automatically, I will be doing a video on those as well. Every home is different.

    enjoyed the video. been using a Tigerloop Ultra on our burner for a couple years and very happy with it. recently got a bad batch of oil that had water in it. how does the Tigerloop handle water in the oil? read online that it would vent out with the air. is this correct? ty

    • @TrolleyBrothers
      @TrolleyBrothers 16 дней назад

      Im glad you liked the video, The Tigerloop Ultra doesn't do anything for water unfortunately according to the manufacturer. Considering this is great for venting off air which goes up and since water is more dense than oil which would cause it to go down, I do not see it helping with removal of water. You may be able to add a tank additive to remove the water depending on how much you received.

    Thank you for the great video. It helped me clarify how to about diagnosing my humidifier which hasn't worked for a couple of years (Argh!). So I'm finally tackling it. I have the same model of Aprilaire (600) as is shown in your video. I am not getting any water to the humidifier. I checked and there is water coming into the saddle valve and it is doubtful that the copper line between there and the solenoid is blocked. I tested the DC voltage coming to the solenoid and the voltage is zero even when I have the furnace running and the humidistat set at 7. What are the possible reasons for no voltage to the solenoid? Is it clearly a malfunctioning humidistat? I believe that the Aprilaire humidifier is about seven years old. Thanks for your help. Tom Olschner

    • @TrolleyBrothers

      It does sound like you do not have an automatic unit. The percentage will change with the outdoor temperature for avoiding condensation on your windows. @@TrolleyBrothers Very true, and maybe if I was installing from new, I would go that route to. Im also a homeowner that checks on his HVAC more than most people, so the manual way is just part of a routine if needed. The one part I like about manual is when you have a heavy footprint of people in the winter. Large gatherings, more cooking, more bodies making humidity. Family staying over, more showers, more everyhting that creates humidity. If you have an automatic one, it will just adjust humidity based on the outside temp, already adding to that traffic. Manual, if I know a lot of people are coming over for the day or evening, or weekend, I can turn it off, or down.

    • @TrolleyBrothers
      @TrolleyBrothers Месяц назад

      Actually the automatic control checks the outdoor temperature and also the current humidity by running the furnace blower, then decides if it needs more humidity. So this control would take into control the additional showers and traffic automatically.

      I don't have this exact model but a similar variation, and just changed my panels last night. I wanted.to point out that the water panel/filters often have a red or black mark on one side. That should be pointed up, in the frame of the filter. I believe that it allows the filter pleats to remain horizontal instead of vertical. This will keep the water in the filter until it feeds into your furnace intake. If you have the pleats vertical, I think the water will just quickly pass through.the filter and down the drain.

    plenty of useful tips here, thanks for sharing. Do you recommend using a recirculating pump with these for instant hot water at farthest locations? Cranking up to 140 and using a mixing valve is interesting. Bacteria growth isn't a concern where I'm at but the increase in "capacity" is a good idea.

      The 140 degree temp doesn't allow Legionnaires' disease to grow in the water. The recirculation loop would be if you had a long run and you wanted hot water quickly.

      Your local Fujitsu dealer would be your best bet, you can go to Fujitsu.com and find your local dealer. If your in the southern New Hampshire area we could get you one.

    Greetings from Wisconsin. We bought an older house that has the Model 60 (it looks just like the 600). It ran fine last winter, but just as we were changing over to summer mode last April, we noticed the light was flashing change filter. It is now October and time to start it up again and I changed the filter. But now as I am trying to start it back up, there appears to be no power to the controller. I don't know when or how the power stopped but I cannot get it going again. There is a Test/Reset position on the knob, but nothing happens when I try to test/reset. Is there another spot I should be looking at to reset the power? There is no instruction manual to be found from the previous owners. Thanks in advance for any help!

      You my have a bad transformer if it is getting no power at all. I would call a professional if you are unsure of how to diagnose this.

    Hello. Does the blower activation switch get turned on. I don't think I've ever touched that😬

      Only if you want the humidifier to do that independently of when the furnace runs.

    Hey I know this is an older video but are any instances where the blower activation and controls are off? We moved into a house and have never touched the controls. Curious if we should set them to what you recommended in the video?

      Yes, I would turn the dial to 4 or 5 and turn on the blower activation switch then see what happens.

    Does this auto humidifier unit truns on water flow each time the furnace is on, or does it only turn on when it detects low humidity? Reason i asked i recently got this installed and during my furnace run i didnt noticed any water flow but it worked when i did test/rest run. Please give your thoughts. If it is supposed to flow water during every furnace run then i must call the installer to fix. Plz let me know what you suggest.

    • @TrolleyBrothers
      @TrolleyBrothers 3 месяца назад

      The water will turn on only if it decides it needs to humidify or when you put it into test mode.

    I was charged $400.00 for this exact fix and have the same oil burner. Does that sound right?

    • @TrolleyBrothers
      @TrolleyBrothers 3 месяца назад

      There are different prices all around the country and I do not know where you are. That does sound like it could be a reasonable cost. Especially if they had to diagnose that problem for that price. When changed the tech needs to remove the oil in the line, provide and change the part, then purge the system of air and ensure that your system is functioning properly. Keep in mind that $400 doesn't go into the company's pocket. There is employee wage, truck costs, fuel, parts cost, training, insurance, and profit that all need to come out of that $400.
